There are a few research data(very little) that gender is determined more by epigenetic chromosomal modification that is inherited (chromosomes are passed on to the offspring along with all the biomedical modifications). These modications can activate or inactivate (regulate) gene expressions.
These regulated gene expressions in the brain pathway determines our behaviour and threats -this is apart from anyone being genetically male/female/otherwise.

Univesity level Biology: at least 12 expressions of X and Y chromosomes. Anyone can be anything sexually walahi. This is one of the many reasons evolution is accepted and taught instead of creationism.
