That's the problem right there. This is not a personal achievement, it is one for the nation. regardless of political affiliation. And instead of you seeing people celebrating something good for the nation, you see them bickering about who should take the credit (for doing what they were elected to do in the first place). Ask the average American who built the Brooklyn bridge or ask the average British who constructed the London underground railway system and they won't have a single clue. But they take pride in the fact that have such infrastructures. That's called patriotism.
