Thank God all those little angels came out unhurt |
THE MAN BEHIND CHIEF TIMI ALAIBE________Samasi Anderson Chief Ndutimi ALaibe known for his term as the Managing Director of NDDC (2007--2009), previously served as the Commission's Executive Director of Finance and Administration (2001--2007). He also served briefly as Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, coordinated the maiden phase of the Presidential Amnesty Program. prior to his appointment at the NDDC in 2001, in 1986 Chief Alaibe served as the Head of Operations and later a branch manager at Africa Continental Bank. He later served as manager at different levels of several financial institutions including Societe Generale Bank Ltd (now Heritage Bank) which he served as a senior manager before his departure from the institution at the dawn of the 21st century. Timi Alaibe is a household name in Bayelsa State, a status that positioned him as an unvoidable political asset in the state. Also, Chief Alaibe as created a precedent for himself as a seasonal political deceiver to Bayelsans due to his declarations of ambition to govern the state but not being on the ballot in 2003, 2007, and 2015 gubernatorial elections in the state. It is a fact that many Bayelsans love and trust for Chief Alaibe is on a slow decline as a result of the precedent created of not being on the ballot severally. But considering his political activities since 2003, Will he again step aside for someone else in 2019? Will he be a governor for all? How will Bayelsa look like if he is crowned the governor? Chief Alaibe being aware of his enviable status of an unavoidable political asset in the state is also aware of his slow decline of relevance in the state due to his name never on the ballot. Knowing this, Chief Timi will decide his political future by putting his name on the ballot or step aside for someone else again and permanently retire from conventional politics of the state. But considering Him as a politician, him loosing his enviable status politically is highly unlikely. Ndutimi Alaibe being a governor with a positive massive difference is highly likely. In 2003, he was up against an incubent and his ambition was felt as an eathquake in the camp of the incubent. In 2007, against all odds including joining a party that has no appearance in the state before, his ambition was a night mare in camp of the ruling party at then, same was replicated in 2015. This is note that He has no political godfather to please or reward while in office. His sole duty will be to serve Bayelsans and them only. Also, Him being an household name in the state since 2003, sending fears to incubent governments is a sign that has worked and tourched the lives of Bayelsans as a private citizen and his time in the NDDC and he will do more as governor. Noting His achievements as a banker, a financial expert, and his term in the NDDC, the fact is he will be a governor as an economic expert managing the resources of the state for the sole welfare of Bayelsans... |
