dridowu: i dnt believe in wearing it all d time because sincerity in marriage comes from the heart not from the ring. Gbam! Wearing some piece of metal doesnt stop u from cheating, some women or men dont care. Your luv 4 ur spouse should be in ur heart not on symbol. Same with wedding ceremony, honeymoon, etc.. my best friend been happily married 20yrs without the nonsense ring, only five ppl at his wedding. Check ur heart not the symbol, I think the jewelry companies started the idea. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Was The Sacrifice Of Jesus On The Cross That Big A Deal? by Legit: 4:25pm On Apr 23, 2013 |
bolaino: It's a question that should be answered with utmost sincerity, with all honesty and with no religious bias (but I doubt my christian folks will be able to do that).
But let's examine the death of jesus, christians from time immemorial have given us the illusion that it was the greatest and noblest thing any man or God could have done for his people, by paying the ultimate price, ( giving up his life),
But I chose to disagree, in the case of jesus, he is said to be God, and he created all things, having this knowledge how would coming to earth and dying and going back to splendor a big deal? I know of people who have gone through a lot worse for no reward at all, not to talk about jesus, who is supposed to be the beginning and the end, this should have been like a walk in the park for him.
But it was'nt, even knowing fully well that he was going to rise up again and be praised in heaven and on earth for all eternity, he was still scared, begging himself in heaven not to allow the whole thing happen.
Personally I would go through all jesus went through just to be given one billion dollars, I know of people who would go through same tin or even worse for less, did jesus suffer more than the slaves in america? Or did he suffer more than the people who were tortured and beaten to death, in places like cambodia, uganda, rwanda etc, the answer is No, so christians should stop saying how difficult it was for jesus to lay his life down for sinners. The following are quotes from the bible. Psalm 47 v 2 Lord is terrible, Leviticus 19.27 Dont cut your hair, Denteromy 13.12-15 Kill unbeliever, Exodus 35.2 Kill on who work on 7th day, Exodus 21.1 Justify Slavery law. Xtianity is about power to control others. Religion is man's invention. Faith & Believe means unproven. Why feel so strong on something that is not proven without a doubt. Whether "GOD" exist or not nobody knows, we just follows like mumu, bcus mom & dad say so, and they may b wrong like two left foots. |
Politics › Re: MASSOB: Try Uwazuruike For Treason, Face Hell by Legit: 1:43am On Apr 23, 2013 |
berem: The Alliance for Igbo Youths (AIY) an umbrella body for Igbo youth organisations in Nigeria has threatened that the country would experience mayhem if the leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Ralph Uwazuruike is tried for treason. Uwazuruike, alongside six members of MASSOB had filed an appeal to extricate themselves from an impending treason trial, which was initiated against them by the Federal Government in 2005.
But a five-man panel in the Supreme Court had on Friday 19, 2013 approved a trial for treason for the MASSOB leader and some members and ordered that their trial should commence without delay. Reacting to the judgment, the Secretary General of AIY, Emeka Moneme said if the government goes on with the trial, Igbo youths might have no option than to embark on unending protests.
According to him, “the Federal Government is underestimating the capacity of Igbos to engage in militancy. We want to make them aware of the fact that if they go on with their plans to try Uwazuruike for treason after granting amnesty to Niger Delta militants and planning to do same to the Boko Haram sect that has killed a lot of Nigerians, then we will be left with no choice than to cause mayhem in this country.”
Also speaking, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law, Emeka Umeagbalasi described the court pronouncement as a means of oppressing the Igbo nation using the judiciary. He said, “MASSOB is a non violent organisation that has not at any time taken up arms against the Federal Government like other groups such as the Boko Haram sect and the Niger Delta militants had done in the past. Despite the fact that the Boko Haram sect had taken up arms against the country and had even caused the death of thousands of innocent Nigerians, the government is still bent on granting them amnesty even when they are rejecting it. So far, these groups have not been made to face trial.
“Therefore, the decision to try Uwazuruike and members of his group for treason shows the high level of inequality in the country. “The Igbo have suffered the worst form of marginalisation and this ruling is going to further aggravate the situation and cause unrest in the country.” Meanwhile, MASSOB has warned that it will cause mayhem in the country if the life of its leader is threatened.
Speaking to Daily Sun, MASSOB’s Director of Information, Uche Madu said it was unfair that the government sort to grant amnesty to a group responsible for the death of thousands, yet wants to prosecute a group that had carried out its activities in a peaceful manner. “Boko Haram’s activities would be child’s play compared to what MASSOB would do if the government goes on with its plans” he said.
http://sunnewsonline.com/new/cover/try-uwazuruike-for-treason-face-hell/ If d govt start to listen to every agitated group, where would this end. This MASSOB ppl shld get a life, if they dont like the ruling, they shld take their grievance to court. If they make any trouble, the law shld deal firmly with them, Shio. |
Politics › Re: Okonjo-Iweala Denies Pursuing Igbo Agenda Allegation by Legit: 4:23pm On Apr 15, 2013 |
Sincere 9gerian: ** "I don’t give a damn. If the people got their on merit they deserve it and we will stick with it as long as we know they didn’t get it through the back door,”- Okonjo Iweala
The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has denied pursuing any personal or Igbo agenda in the President Goodluck Jonathan government.
The minister disclosed this at the weekend when she delivered a paper titled: “Values, Mindsets and Culture” at the Ola Ndi Igbo symposium which took place in Lagos at the weekend.
Okonjo-Iweala, who was apparently worried by the allegations that she was pursuing an Igbo agenda in the government of President Jonathan, insisted that all appointments into most federal government’s establishments were strictly carried out on merit.
She denied having any hand in the appointments of some Igbos into top positions in the Jonathan government, maintaining that such persons got their appointments merit.
The minister said: “There is something ethnic and I am going through it now. If you check on the internet there are articles saying that Okonjo-Iweala has gone ethnic but I believe in merit and competition and I don’t really care what part of the country you come from as long as you can do your job and that has always been my tenet. So, actually Igbo don’t find that I am that convincing because I think in Nigeria, we need to have a culture of merit. But by the way, when you think of merit and competition Igbos don’t do badly and that is a problem, we do rather well. Somebody said everybody in the financial sector is Igbo then they began to list people like the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Director-General of Stock Exchange, Director-General of Securities and Exchange Commission, Director-General of Debt Management Office, myself and Sovereign Wealth Fund.
“Of course, they said because I am Igbo the person in charge of Sovereign Wealth Fund is also Igbo. He won completely by open competition and merit and the other top person there, Mrs. Stella Onyejekwu, got the job completely on merit. We should be proud of the president because despite of everything he insisted that merit prevailed and that those who got the job should be allowed to take it. The president should be commended because there was so much pressure on him. I said to somebody could you check the employment history of some of these people when they were saying that everybody in financial sector is Igbo because I am there. They got there independently on their own merit and most of them got there before me.
“Somebody wrote an article on this saying that I have come there to prosecute an Igbo agenda and then I saw another one saying this a biglie what has she done for the Igbos? She is there with Jonathan prosecuting a South-south agenda so I thought that was wonderful. So my point is, I don’t give a damn. If the people got their on merit they deserve it and we will stick with it as long as we know they didn’t get it through the back door,”Okonjo-Iweala said.
Okonjo-Iweala also called on all the Igbo leaders to do something about the negative perception given to Igbos, noting that something drastic should be done to change the wrong notion that every Igbo has a price.
“We don’t support each other, let’s be very clear about that. We don’t, so we need to change because of the way others perceive us. Let me just tell you when I was in Obasanjo’s administration, I was in the midst of some northerners who were having a conversation and I think theyforgot maybe because they think I came from the US. The conversation was quite free and their perception of the Igbo was that any Igbo person is for sale. You just name a price; there must be a price that will get that person to do something even if it’s killing a fellow Igbo person. They will do it for a price. That day, I felt like crawling under the table but I was brave. After they finished, I said “well, I just want to remind you I am Igbo and not everybody has a price but they said Ngozi no it is not you we are talking about. We know you don’t have a price. I said: ‘no,I am not talking about myself. I mean that 99 per cent of Igbo people don’t have a price. They are honest people doing their jobs. So this is the perception and I think we need to do something about that now. How? It begins with you. It begins with the individual, if you decide to maintain those Igbo values of honesty, integrity, dignity,” she said
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/im-not-pursuing-any-personal-agenda-says-okonjo-iweala/144947/ Obviously she has an Igbo AGENDA, look at her statements, is full of "WE, US" meaning Igbo ppl, when would it be Nigerians. Just remember when another tribe get there dont cry fowl. When are we going to get out of these tribal issue. She is talking about merit, who decide whether someone is meritous, who give someone a chance to show their merit, if the door is not open you cannot get in to show your merit. It is not coincident that financial affair are run by Igbo for the most part. Remember she was a cook for the Biafran warloads. So she cannot find anyone from other tribe that is qualify for these position except ibos, so dont blame the Hause for helping their own when is their turn. This is why ppl are afraid to elect Ibo president. Iherica is doing same thing in the army I heard. |
