Paul Pogba recently flew out to Dubai to join up with the rest of the squad for warm weather training. Initially, Pogba had remained at home following a knock he picked up during United’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the Premier League.

Pogba recently conducted an interview for MUTV in the United Arab Emirates with the sun blazing overhead as members of the squad train in the background.

In the clip a football is seen in the distance heading straight for Pogba who is looking away and in the direction of the camera.

Seemingly with eyes in the back of his head, Pogba telegraphs the ball and coolly knocks it away from the camera equipment with the back of his left foot.

The cameraman exclaims: “That was close!” before they recommence the interview.

Fans on Twitter loved Pogba’s composed flick, and reacted as you’d expect.

Pogba has been in blistering form since Solskjaer instructed the Manchester United team to play in a more attacking style.

The Red Devils face off against Tottenham at the weekend as they resume the quest to salvage their season.

An angry man reportedly stabbed an Ikeja Electric’s technician, over a disconnection at his residence at No. 13 Adesanya Street, in the Mafoluku area of Oshodi, Lagos State.

It was gathered that Oluwaseyi Amao, the technician who works with Ikeja Electric alongside his colleague Yusuf Tunde, acted on a disconnection order by the management of Ikeja Electric, an electricity distribution company, which had marked some flats in the building for disconnection over unpaid bills, when they were attacked.

Prior to the disconnection, residents of the area were given one month grace to pay their outstanding bills. However even with this, the 22-year-old man identified as Oluwadamilare Temenu whose apartment owed N300,000, went on to stab the Ikeja Electric’s technician.

Speaking to Punch’s correspondent, the 42-year-old technician said;

“We were given a disconnection order to execute at No. 13 Adesanya Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, last Thursday. The building has four flats; one flat has a prepaid meter, while the remaining three are on estimated billing; but we were given a disconnection order on the two flats with over N200,000 and N100,000 debts, respectively.

“Before that day, I had visited the house for disconnection last month and one of the residents, the one using prepaid meter, had pledged to speak with the others to pay their debts, because it was only one wire that supplies power to the four flats. If we cut off the wire, the whole flats will be affected, including the one with prepaid meter, but they still refused to pay.

“So, on the day I was instructed to execute the disconnection order, I explained to the residents, including the guy who stabbed me, that I was there the previous month and that since they had refused to clear their outstanding bills, I had been instructed to disconnect power supply to their apartment. He never argued with me, but I was surprised that he said I was looking for trouble when he saw me climbing the pole.

“All of a sudden, he went inside his flat, brought out a crate of bottles and broke two bottles. I quickly jumped down and he chased after me and stabbed me. He first stabbed me in the neck and head; to avoid more harm, I held him tightly and told my colleague, Tunde, to inform our other colleagues to bring a vehicle so that we could take him to the police station.”

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti who confirmed the incident said that the case was being investigated, adding that the suspect would be charged to court soon.

“Some IE officials went to that location to disconnect those that owed them and in the process, a young man attacked them and injured one of them. The case is being investigated by the Makinde Police Station and the suspect will be charged to court soon,” Oti stated.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that President Buhari’s government has lost its moral ground in the fight against corruption because of corrupt practices within the administration.

Saraki in an exclusive interview with Channels Television said the Buhari-led government came in on a promise to oust corruption but have rather allowed a new set of corrupt officials to thrive. Saraki said there is no way the present government can be speaking of integrity when it has “a member who has been found wanting, left without charge or prosecution”.

According to Saraki, in 2015 the Jonathan administration was ousted on three major promises which are: security, economic growth and the fight against corruption. The lawmaker, however, opined that “Nigerians are not better off today than they were in 2015”.

He said that Boko Haram insurgency has worsened, in that “more territories are being lost”.

Speaking about the economic situation in the country, the Senate President said: “creation of more jobs has failed”. He also added that Nigeria has dropped to a very disturbing position on the poverty chart.

Regarding the pace of the PDP campaign, Saraki said the steam has not fizzled out for the opposition party. He, however, noted that the environment has become very different and hostile under the All Progressives Congress.

“the people are more edgy because of the intolerance of the government”, citing the arrest of Deji Adeyanju. The Senate President further noted that there is no issue within the PDP, arguing that the opposition presidential candidate has the full backing of all members and stands a great chance against President Muhammadu Buhari. he said

Saraki also alleged that there is massive fraud within the oil sector saying, ‘applying subsidy on assumption that Nigeria consumes fifty million litres (50million litres) of fuel a day, is fraudulent.

Saraki said in the Jonathan administration subsidy was based on an assumption that the nation consumes 30million litres of fuel daily. He added that he and some other lawmakers warned that the Jonathan government was condoning corruption “by over importing fuel and because of that we were losing a lot of money”.

The Senate President said the present government instead of changing the process, jerked up the importation by 20 million litres extra. He said, “you would have thought that a government that was to fight corruption and prevent leakages would even if you are going to continue subsidy, ensure that it is better managed.”

Saraki added that there is no way Nigerians can consume 50million litres a day, “it is just money being stolen,” he alleged. He further argued that there is almost no way that President Muhammadu Buhari is not aware of what is going on within his government, stressing that the Senate has investigated the issue but “we have an environment where agencies of government are emboldened to disregard the National Assembly, it is a big issue”.

A man mistakenly proposes to girl he actually planned to dump using the ring he had intended to give to a love interest, he had been dating secretly at work.

The man, a Reddit user named Propermistakeregret, said the last new year’s eve was a nightmare for him, as it was the time, he mistakenly proposed to his longtime girlfriend, whom he had intended to break up with. He placed a portion of the blame on alcohol though, reports Metro UK.

he regretted it.

He said:

“I’m seeing someone else, wanted to break up with her. I bought the ring for a work colleague, wasn’t planning to propose until the holiday we planned.

“During New Year’s Eve, I proposed to my girlfriend. It’s been posted on my friend’s Snapchat, my girlfriend’s Facebook page, everywhere.

“I saw people proposing so I wanted to go with the flow and proposed to my girlfriend whilst partially pissed. Can I get the ring back and cancel the engagement please?”

Unfortunately, law experts on Reddit explained, it wouldn’t be possible for him to get the ring back unless perhaps it costs a fortune and he was able to show that he was so intoxicated that he lacked legal capacity to offer a gift.

After a few unforgiving comments from users including pleas for the poster to see a therapist, he posted an update, that he is now marrying his original girlfriend.

He said:

“I’ve had a long and hard think to myself, I decided to hand in my four-week notice to my boss and start afresh.

“I think it’s best my girlfriend doesn’t find out about the affair, I’ve been having so I’ve spoken to my colleague and told her I’m not going on holiday with her and I’ve ended it with her.

“I’ve known my girlfriend longer and my mum gave me a call saying she’s happy and she’s always wanted grandchildren and whatnot, so I didn’t want to disappoint my mum. I’m going to marry my girlfriend.”

World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim has announced that he would step down next month, more than three years before his current term was due to expire.

The decision ends Kim’s six-year tenure and may give US President Donald Trump decisive influence over the future leadership of the 189-member global development lender.

“It has been a great honor to serve as president of this remarkable institution, full of passionate individuals dedicated to the mission of ending extreme poverty in our lifetime,” Kim, 59, said in a statement.

Kim, who became the bank’s president in 2012, is to join an unnamed firm focusing on investments in developing countries, the bank said in a statement, and will return to the board of Partners-in-Health, which he co-founded. World Bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva will serve as interim president upon Kim’s February 1 departure, the bank said in a statement.

Under Kim’s leadership, the bank set the goal of eliminating extreme poverty by 2030 and ramped up financing. Last year, it also won approval for a sharp $13 billion capital increase after acceding to requests from the Trump administration to curb loans to high-income countries like China.

The CIES Football Observatory has released a list of 50 most valuable players in World football.

According to a research carried out by the CIES Football Observatory, the list was made up after they crunched the numbers for an algorithm that takes into account performance, age, marketability, and their current contract length, among other factors, to come up with very specific values.

On the list, France and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe was named the most valuable player in world football with an estimated value of £196million, while England and Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who came second on the list is valued at £180m.

Senator Shehu Sani has warned the Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s wife, Mrs Hadiza el-Rufai to stop talking about his hair.

The senator, who recently left the All Progressives Congress (APC) after he failed to secure the APC senatorial ticket for another term, asked the governor to caution the first lady over her comments on his hair.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Sani said Hadiza el-Rufai always talks about his hair whenever she is out campaigning.

Hadiza, who is a published author, has been actively involved in the re-election campaign of her husband ahead of the March governorship election.

He said:

“I appeal to Mr. Governor to caution his wife to stop talking about my hair everywhere she goes on campaigns. Everywhere she goes it’s all about my hair. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has insisted that it never collected N150m from Nigeria’s Presidency, following the association leaderships’ visit to President Buhari at the state house in Abuja.

Reacting to the backlash it got in a statement signed by Mr Adeyemi Amoo, it’s National Public Relations Officer, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Saturday, NANS called on Nigerian students to discountenance the allegations by ASUU, saying that the association was ready to protect the interest of all the students.

The statement from NANS reads;

“Our attention has been drawn to the purported and sponsored allegation, that NANS had been bribed by President Muhammadu Buhari with a whooping sum of N150million to protest against ASUU.

“We commend the well-meaning, intellectual and genuine civil society groups for not falling for this blackmail, as we’ve been informed that they’ve also been lobbied by ASUU to join them in pushing this blackmail.

“We are not surprised that this blackmail isn’t flying beyond the pseudo groups they’ve been able to arrange and mobilise with cash.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, is a known person in character and style to virtually all Nigerians, even the oppositions know that Buhari will never give out such amount of money for any reason(s) that is not of national benefits or developments.”


Amoo who recounted how NANS declared November 17, 2018 as a nationwide day of mass action tagged: “SAVE EDUCATION RALLY ” which held simultaneously across states to protest the incessant strikes across universities, polytechnics and colleges of Education, added that in October 2018, NANS national leadership, met with the Minister for Education, to fine-tune ways of finding a long-term solution to the regular strikes in the educational sector.

“We demanded as the major stakeholders in the sector, to always have representatives at the meeting of ASUU with Federal Government, as this was targeted towards adding to the strength and voice of ASUU, so as to make government yield to their demands speedily.

“The Federal Government on her own side sees the request of been an observer at the negotiation table with ASUU as a welcome development.

“NANS was invited twice to the meeting of Federal Government with ASUU, ably represented by the NANS national president, Danielson Akpan, but was walked out twice by the ASUU leadership, insisting that such negotiations must not be done in the presence of younger ones.”

The statement added, “NANS, therefore, uses this medium to inform Nigerian students and Nigerians at large, that its leadership will not, has not and will not for any reason sell the interest and integrity of our dear organisation.

“Conclusively, we want to tell ASUU that NANS is not for sell, we have not and will not turn our struggles to a source of empowerment.”

The Coalition of United Political Parties has called for mental health tests for President Buhari; former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and all other candidates contesting the 2019 presidential election.

It said the test should be conducted by an independent team of experts in mental health issues. The coalition’s demand was contained in a statement by its first national spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere.

Ugochinyere said the test was necessary in order to ascertain the presidential candidates’ mental stability before elections, “so that any person who does not pass the examination should not be allowed to participate in the election.” He said the CUPP had secured the assurances of Atiku, who is contesting the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, to subject himself to the medical test in the general interest of Nigeria.

`He urged Buhari to speak more to Nigerians and Nigerian journalists, especially through presidential media chat. He added, “CUPP also calls on President Buhari to face the Nigerian media and stop holding them in disdain as they are professionals and are renowned world over for their expertise. How could a President not speak to any Nigerian media house or journalist for over three years? How could a President hold his entire country’s media and citizens in such disdain that he speaks to them only through a crowd of spokespersons?

“Nigerians want to know the identities of the persons that write his speeches, their ideologies and their stake in the Nigerian project because, many a time, the President reads speeches that are not in tune with reality, as he did during the presentation of budget 2019 and was rightly booed by lawmakers. This medical examination is very necessary and all Nigerians of goodwill should join this call for the unveiling of the real facts behind this façade presented to Nigerians.”

Although we feared there might not be a Davido Live in Lagos concert this year by reason of his political meddle which led to an alleged disappointment in his venue of choice but imagine how our hearts lit up following the news that he would afterall be hosting a live show in Lagos.

It will be happening live at the Eko Atlantic tonight and so here are 5 reasons why you shouldn’t miss this experience.

1. Davido equals surprises
The name Davido has become very synonymous with surprises. Everytime Davido steps up to the stage, there’s always a treaty in the offing for the fans. And so we don’t need a public announcement to know there’s already a grand plan being hatched by the OBO himself. While we strongly believe that millionaires will be made tonight going by OBO’s mantra to lift others, some are of the opinion that it is the chef Chi who will finally be making her debut on stage but others say he will be unveiling a newly signed act tonight.
