But no, the problem is Tinubu, writing nonsense all over the social media is the best way to campaign for your candidate.
The funny thing here is that, after all these smear campaign about Tinubu ,he will still be the president with effect from May 29, 2023. |

Politics › Re: Nigerian Govt’s Actions Fuelled IPOB Violence In Southeast – Report by LeoDeKing: 5:07pm On Apr 03, 2022 |
[s] InoGetJoy: The intensifying violence associated with the secessionist movement in Nigeria’s South-east is fuelled by the excessive militarised response of the state security forces as well as collective feelings of marginalisation and misinformation, a new report has said.
The report – Multiple Nodes and Common causes: National Stocktake of Contemporary Insecurity and State Responses in Nigeria – was authored and released on Friday by the Centre for Democracy and Development in West Africa (CDD). The report states that Nigeria faces an epidemic of insecurity, including the violent secessionist agitations in addition to terrorism, banditry, and the perennial farmer-herder conflicts.
The proscribed separatist group, IPOB, with its armed wing, ESN, has intensified an armed struggle in a radical push to force the South-east out of Nigeria and create an independent state of Biafra, decades after an initial effort caused a devastating civil war (1967-1970) and failed.
In the violent wave, attacks blamed on IPOB and ESN operatives have resulted in the killings of state security personnel and civilians. The attacks have targeted police stations, markets, and other public properties, including INEC offices and custodial centres.
The separatists have continued to enforce a sit-at-home every Monday to protest the continued incarceration of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is standing trial in Abuja. The weekly sit-at-home protests, with substantial compliance, mean schools are shut to avoid endangering pupils and suspension of socio-economic activities.
In its report, the CDD said military action by the government in 2016 worsened the IPOB crisis.
“Since the launch of a military operation known as “Operation Python Dance” in 2016, the region has witnessed an intensification of confrontations between IPOB and the Nigerian security forces – especially, the police, the Department of State Security (DSS), and the military,” CDD said, and then referenced a report by PREMIUM TIMES exposing massive extra-judicial killings by the Nigerian security between 2015 and 2016.
Among the factors contributing to the recent intensification of violent separatism in the region, CDD identified: “a violent defensive counter-response to the state’s militarised approach; a pronounced perception of contemporary marginalisation in Nigeria’s current federal political and security architecture; and the development and spread of false narratives legitimising armed mobilisation as a pathway to a regional secession.”
“For many interlocutors in the region — both those identifying as formal members of IPOB and those who rejected the movement’s aims — the militarised response of the security forces to the initial emergence of separatism was frequently highlighted as a key driver of the group’s counter-mobilisation,” CDD said.
The organisation further said that “attempts to address the conflict arising from secessionist agitations – which remain the most significant node of conflict in the region with a bearing on national cohesion – need to account for the central role of the state as a perpetrator of violence and injustice in any resolution.”
The Nigerian government has not only proscribed IPOB but also officially labelled it a terrorist organisation, thus ruling out formal discussions with the group.
IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu is currently in detention where he is standing trial for treason and other charges.
There have been calls by political and traditional leaders from the South-east for Mr Kanu’s release as part of efforts to stem the violence in the region. President Muhammadu Buhari has, however, rejected such calls, saying the trial of Mr Kanu should run its course.
On Saturday, traditional rulers from the South-east restated their demand for Mr Kanu’s release. They said this was part of their agreement with violent secessionists who in turn agreed to end the sit-at-homes on Mondays in the region.

Politics › Re: Why Consensus May Force Tinubu Out Of APC by LeoDeKing: 11:29am On Apr 03, 2022 |
[s] press9jatv: LAGOS – There are feelers that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may very likely pick its presidential candidate for the 2023 election by consensus as it was done in the just concluded national convention. Sunday Independent also gathered that those mulling the idea of using consensus to elect the presidential candidate of the party have been able to sell the idea to President Muhammadu Buhari, whom is said to be willing to go along with the idea. A top source within the party, who is also close to Aso Rock Villa, told our correspondent that the party’s presidential ticket would surely go to the south but refused to disclose which part of the south it would go. Another source who spoke in the same direction disclosed that the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is definitely not going to be the consensus candidate of the party. “From all indications, we are going to elect the presidential candidate through a consensus and what we are looking at is a candidate that will be accepted by all Nigerians. “Someone who is still very much agile and not too old; somebody that is well-experienced will fly our party’s flag. That is all I can tell you for now,” the source said. When asked what other criteria the party would consider in choosing its flag bearer, the source said: “We have been mindful to give a sense of belonging to all ethnic groups and religions. We must be fair to them, and that is the reality of where we are as a country. “Now that we have Senator Abdullahi Adamu as our national chairman, it will not be out of place to have a Christian as presidential candidate and a Muslim from the North as his running mate. “The South is not in short supply of credible party members that would build on the foundation of President Muhammadu Buhari. For some of us, money is the least factor in choosing the party’s presidential candidate.” Meanwhile, theparty’smembers who are loyal to Tinubu are insisting on an open primary that will involve delegates of the party to elect the presidential candidate of the party. Last Sunday, the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju 2023 (SWAGA’ 23), said the idea of a consensus presidential candidate for the party is unacceptable as it will cause rancour and division in the party. Bosun Oladele, SWAGA’s National Secretary, said the issue of consensus will not be acceptable as all intending aspirants should be made to slug it out for the ticket. While insisting that nobody should try to get the APC presidential ticket through the “backdoor”, Oladele said: “There is nothing like consensus presidential candidate. “That will be a shortcut, which they know cannot be possible through a primary if all the aspirants file out on the field. Nobody should think of getting the ticket through the backdoor. “Don’t forget, Asiwaju Tinubu deliberately said that he has the capacity. So, I believe that is the number one requirement for anybody that wants to contest the election. “Whoever is contesting, let them go to the field and show their capacity. “After all, if not for contested primaries, would it have been possible for Buhari to emerge in 2015? “I believe if he had emerged by consensus then, there would have been serious protest and division in the party. “Everybody saw that the process that produced him was free and fair, devoid of any imposition. So, that is what we should be looking at, not consensus arrangement.” But the argument against the position of Tinubu’s camp is that he (Tinubu) has never allowed delegates to vote for the gubernatorial candidates of his party as far as Lagos State is concerned. Said a source: “He has always imposed a candidate of his choice. Towards the expiration of his eight years in office as governor of Lagos, he brought Fashola and imposed him on the party as a consensus candidate despite the fact that Fashola never showed open interest in the position. “At that time, all the party members such as Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Ganiyu Solomon, and others who showed interest in taking over from him were pushed aside. “Fashola was then his Chief of Staff and relatively an inactive member of the then Action Congress. “At the end of Fashola’s tenure, he imposed Ambode again as a consensus candidate despite the countless number of active party members who also desired the office of governor of Lagos State. In 2019, the same thing occurred in the case of Sanwo-Olu. “I don’t know why he and his supporters are insisting on an open election by delegates as against the picking of a consensus candidate? “Has he (Tinubu) not been doing this in Lagos, and no one complained? Why does he want a different approach now that he is an aspirant?” The source added: “Tinubu is not bigger than the party and his followers should know that he is not the owner of the APC. “If the party is going to elect its presidential candidate and he (Tinubu) is not favoured by the arrangement, Heaven will not fall. They must know that APC national body is not APC Lagos chapter.”
