debanj326: Fubara should put his house in order, embrace diplomacy and face reality. He is the Governor of Rivers State.
Tinubu cannot sack Wike for now. Wike is more useful to Tinubu than Fubara who can't live up to his expectation as a Governor. Wike doesn't understand diplomacy |
Politics › Re: ‘Sack Wike now’ – Protesters storm APC headquarters (Video) by Leonardo4(m): 7:10am On Jan 24 |
Whalis: The money Fubara is using to sponsor all these is enough to settle his problems in the state. He should know that Wike is only a friend who disagreed with him. He is yet to face external contenders like Tonye Cole and others. He is expending and depleting his arsenal very fast. I hope he has more when the real fight starts. He has more than enough. This is rivers state governor. So don't cry |
Politics › Re: Sachet Alcohol Ban Threatens Five Million Jobs, Distillers Warn NAFDAC by Leonardo4(m): 7:09am On Jan 24 |
bunmioguns: This is a very tricky situation for the country right now.
On one hand, you have to look at the economic implications. At a time when the cost of living is high and companies are already leaving Nigeria, shutting down an entire sector that employs over 5 million people (directly and indirectly) could be devastating.
These unions have a point, massive job losses usually lead to increased insecurity.
On the other hand, we can't ignore why NAFDAC and the Senate are pushing for this. The 'sachet culture' has made hard liquor too affordable and accessible to minors and even school children. The environmental impact of these small plastics is also a major issue.
The middle ground should probably be stricter regulation and enforcement of age limits rather than an outright ban that kills local industries.
If they can regulate big bottles, they should find a way to monitor the distribution of these smaller ones without throwing millions of people into the labor market.
Both the government and the distillers need to sit down and find a compromise that protects both jobs and public health. Very difficult to implement that your take. The best is to ban it. Even road accidents are sometimes caused by alcohol intoxication because this sachet a sold in every motor park |

BondRiv: Let me see the impact Bwala will add to Tinubu's re-election. They should keep basking in this euphoria. Once Tinubu loses the election, Bwala will be the first to vanish. Also, nobody is holding the governor. He is violating the constitution and getting the consequences. The governor is only the head of the executive branch, we have three branches of government. Is it Wike that will now make aTinubu win? Wike or no Wike Tinubu will have his 25% in Rivers. Even in previous election wike rigged Obi still did well with Lp polling 175000 votes against Apc 230000 votes. So if the governor is against wike just know he will deliver rivers better than what wike gave in 2023 |

Bosman17: In the history of Nigeria, the governors have never had it this good in terms of allocation… you think they want it to stop? Be deceiving yourself. Allocation that can't do what the previously lower allocation can do. When you do the naira equivalence to dollar you know allocation actually dropped. If he had maintained same previous allocation the Nigeria states would have collapsed |

TheWebbers: Abroad, the most overrated shii by Nigerians.
The most painful thing for the japarians is coming back home to see some people they left behind doing better than them.
I see those tears in their eyes when they come home and we hang out.
The worst thing to even happen to them is you traveling out to their Japa country for vacation, then hang out with them, take them out and ball them, then go back home. Premium tears.
This is coming from personal first hand experience. Don't be happy about people's misfortune. What works for Mr A may not work for Mr B. There are still lot of people who travelled and doing better than. Don't always look at life from one view .don't be surprised yhose people u are talking may have been worse off if they remained in Nigeria. Do what works for u and don't regret |
Foreign Affairs › Re: We Want Greenland, Without The US You All Will Be Speaking German - Trump by Leonardo4(m): 9:13am On Jan 22 |
ottersberger: There's nothing to resolve: Greenland is Danish territory. If Trump, the chronic land grabber, invades (pay attention — I did not say the US), the EU will rise to defend her. This would mean the end of NATO (which Trump wants), and the Republicans would lose the midterm elections. This would result in the Democrats gaining a majority in the House of Representatives, and they would impeach Trump.
In short, Trump is doing what he does best: talking. He knows Denmark will not surrender Greenland, and he cannot attack. Any such attack would end his presidency prematurely. Interesting times we are in |

He has the option of paying a 5 million naira fine or going to prison for 1 year. But he MUST still pay back 272 million naira. If he doesn't, the court will give him a heavier sentence. In all, he has lost. He still has about 132 million left . He isn't going to prison for nothing. At the end he can easily pay the 5m. |

Obasanjo was a military head of state and 2 term democratically elected president of Nigeria . But tinubu is the better and experienced politician. (Even though I hate to admit that.) How has Tinubu bettered Obansanjo in politics .when he hasn't even secured his second term as president. Or is it because he was able to capture lagos? |

Even the original ones do get issue, and original LG is not price friendly.... and many Nigerians cannot even afford it. dettolgel: You quickly highlighted that part did you highlight the parts where I said I am not in support of selling fake goods ( I am not saying that "fake product" should be allowed into the country... ) or where I pointed out that the seller and producers are exploiting (. ..opportunist will exploit the situation and will continue selling fake and dangerous products) the system to sell substandard good? Of course not either you are a hypocrite or too lazy to read the whole post, which one is it? Are you sure this is necessary? |
TV/Movies › Re: LG Electronics Nigeria Issues Consumer Alert On Counterfeit TVs by Leonardo4(m): 5:56am On Jan 11 |
dettolgel: Why are the rich "oppressing" the poor?
If not for the "fake products from China" many people would never be able to afford a flat screen Tv - How many families in Nigerian are buoyant enough to cough out 500 to 800 euros for a quality LG TV?
How many have the resources to even buy original quality phones or other gadgets?
I am not saying that "fake product" should be allowed into the country but as long as there is huge disparity in terms of income and as long as the rich continue "taunting" the poor with their riches the poor will always look for alternative product so as not to feel left out.
In most society, where the income gap is not that wide and where people earn living wage, the chances of opting for fake goods is very low. In fact, most people won't waste their money on such given that they can afford real and quality products and that the system protect them as customers in terms of failure of the product.
Anyways, as long as poverty is supreme in Nigeria and as long as the poor wants to live like the rich, opportunist will exploit the situation and will continue selling fake and dangerous products. Don't support illegality. Why don't they make these same tvs and sell as a completely different name without using the brand name of established company. Using Lgs Samsung or other big brands logo is criminal and deceptive to the buyer. |
