Congratulations! One thing i noticed about Abuja embassy, if you have full funding, they don't drill students unlike Lagos embassy.

Thanks!!! I'm grateful for your help.

Hello everyone,
My visa was approved on May 24th at Abuja, sorry it took long to come back and give thanks to everyone in this group, work has been tight and I only just collected my passport yesterday (not an excuse though). Thank you all for your wonderful contributions to this thread and also @Time2win for the mock interview a day before the interview, your drills were just what I needed to put my mind at ease, even asking questions that up until that moment I had not anticipated.

The interview was very, very brief. To provide a context of how short it was, I had my interview after @Amyfid12 and her interview went exactly as she described, I thought she was very articulate and spoke really well, but she was stopped right after she said Aunty. After her interview she was just outside the interview door arranging her documents when I met up with her, and we walked out together. I genuinely felt for her, I just think the lack of assistantship was the issue.

To the interview proper.

Me: Good morning (she did not smile or really look up)

VO: Pass me your passport (I did), I-20 too (I did also)

VO: Why this University?

Me: This university is unique to me for several reasons. Firstly, it is a research active institution and the research of Prof. Madsen who is a pioneer of sorts in geophysics also attracted me to the institution. Secondly, (VO cuts in)

VO: I see you have full funding from the university.

Me: Yes, I do

VO: Congratulations, your visa has been approved blah, blah blah.

So, thank you all for your continuous contributions to this thread.

Hello bosses, good afternoon, my name is Philip, please I will like to ask if I can start applications now and submit my gre score around January to February and if I will still be considered for funding and even given admission for fall 2019. This is because I am not prepared for the exams, and I aim to score a high score. I will gladly await a response. Thank you

It depends on the school you're applying to, most schools have priority deadline which is usually Nov./Dec. So check on the schools you wish to apply to for their deadline for funding considerations. Wish you success in your preparation and exams.

Quick Question Please!!!!
Is it possible for me to take the GRE test prep on my android?
There's a test prep I downloaded then, it's quite difficult sha oh. The name is galvanize, it has both Verbal and Quant. Manhattan also has an android app prep, but to subscribe to the full package is 7k. In all though most android apps are just for mastering GRE vocabs, apps like Magoosh.

Please who has Ponpon's contact. I need to send additional GRE score ASAP and B.Y. Mafit has been posting me since last week. I want to forfeit the money with them. I cant keep waiting and I can't even go their office as I stay in PH.

I was discouraged also, but read something online about someone who says it's the D day that matters most not your practice, though they matter a lot. But you're performance on the day off the exam that'll tell what your score would be.
Spotlighte:

Ayeeeeeeeeeeeee! Congratulations! 320 is very huge.
I am encouraged by how your score got better even after not acing the powerprep tests.

I'm facing same now. I worked on my first test two days ago and the score wasn't so encouraging. I'm spurred to practice again.

I wish you success.

Thanks alot Man, Thanks for the advice.

Wow. This is good.
It's great seeing a high score in a while. It would be a great encouragement to others. I am also for geology.
Please begin to contact potential supervisors to get some form of commitment if you haven't started, and then apply early. Fall applications began in August for some schools. The importance of early and well prepared applications have been reiterated here, especially for a GA position.
For the TOEFL, I found notefull videos very helpful. The materials are on the thread, but I can't recall the link. For GTA positions, you may need to get certain minimum scores in certain sections, e. g. a minimum of 24 in all sections. It all depends on the school's requirements.
I believe your profile is really good and the sky is just your starting point.
Just google gradcafe geology and open the first web address. You would see a lot of Admission decisions for various schools and profiles of some students awarded GAs or TAs.

Hello house,
I think I should begin by apologising because this message might be long. I have been patiently waiting for my complete scores before I'll post anything here. I can not over emphasize the importance of this thread and I hope it lasts as long as the GRE exam continues and beyond. I am corper serving in ph, took the GRE exam last week saturday.
Scores are
Quantitative - 164 (86%)
Verbal - 156 (73%)
AWA - 3.5

My AWA is really disappointing cause I think I wrote well, and followed Manhattan's guide to the essay. I'm confused a lityle sha. Anyways I started preparing since june using only the materials I got here, in my preparation when I took the first Powerprep, my scores was
Q -149
V-151. Was disappointed cause I knew I'm better at Maths. Studied up to 5 hours daily, with some cheat days though. Then when I took my final powerprep got, V-150, Q-160, I just knew my verbal was in soup. On the exam day, everything was normal until my second verbal, when it started raining and I could barely ckncentrate because of the sound from the roof. I just guessed for most of the answers, cause I was really pissed off and the people there refused giving me and extra scratch paper. Anyways I thank God.
My profile is
Geology from Federal University
Undergrad GP 3.84/4 (WES conversion, 4.73/5)
One ublication pending
I submitted my scores to
University of Texas Arlington
UT of the Permian Basin
Colorado State Uni
University of Delaware.
I thank you all for your valuable informations, I dont know anybody's name except Scholarstica16, I'm singling him out because at a time, all I did was to isolate his posts and read everything cause I couldnt go through all >400 pages. I thank you brother for your contributions. Everyone else who have made this thread what it is. I would also welcome any advice on what next, already registered for TOEFL sha, would be taking it soon.

Poems For Review / Re: Leave Me Whole. - A Poem About Female Genital Mutilation. by Leoney: 9:07am On Feb 16, 2018
TELL TALES

Tell tales of little boys,
Who grow up without fathers
And have learned to live like robbers.
Tell tales of little boys,
Who have none to depend on
And on whom no light ever shone on.
Tell tales of little boys,
Who might not reach their teens
Because these streets is what they glean.

Tell tales of little girls,
Who never learned to become mothers
And have no one to call brothers.
Tell tales of little girls,
Who go down on bended knees to pray
Still their innocence have been sold away.
Tell tales of little girls,
Who their backs are made to crack
And earn a living lying on their back.

Tell tales of older ones,
Who tell war stories of long ago
But still fear the trumpets will yet again blow.
Tell tales of older ones,
Who are too frail to walk the road
But work the fields and lift huge load.
Tell tales of older ones,
Who may have talked and walked for freedom
But whose names the young sees as boredom.
