CornOak: I think only your HND is sufficient, but you can check DAB for further confirmation. It's was not specified on DAB |

Hannania: you need your certificate and transcript. They might request for more documents when they start processing your application. Thanks |

@Hannania Iits like u skipped a question if mine earlier about which certs and transcripts I need to submit for DAB, Is it both HND and ND or just HND alone? |
Travel › Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by leppyj(m): 8:02am On Jul 22, 2025 |
Hannania: All you need is DAB which cost €150 for those with vocational education (HND is vocationally categorised in Germany). With this, you qualify as a skilled worker and all you need is your SL/BA. When apply, you can apply as a business analyst, which means you have to submit motivational letter and CV to show this Thanks, God bless you. |

Good day bosses, I am interested in the opportunity card and I have a few questions - as a HND holder, is it statement on a foreign vocational qualification I will use? - Do I upload only HND cert and transcripts or both ND and HND? - As HND holder what do I qualify for in opportunity card route? -For context I studied Electrical Engineering but I have over 5 years experience as business analyst. |

Good day bosses. Planning to upgrade from RN10 to the MI series. Which of the MI series should I go for? multi tasking, RAM, ruggedness, battery life are all key, not really a camera person. Also heard that the Chinese versions are always better than global versions how true is that? Price range 700k to 800k max @genius43 @noobody et al |

okesuku: You can also check the other way round: your spouse. If she is younger and has a higher educational qualification with 3 or more years experience in a demand occupation then she can become the primary applicant either through PNP or EE.
I work with NSCDC and I got PNP and I have also gotten PPR...so you will most likely pass criminality check. You just need to look into the eligibility and CRS and weigh options through your spouse , TEF and educational qualification.
TEF is also another great opportunity. I also did TEF and it sure did have some advantage.
Age seems to be the only thing you cannot control, but you can look at other ways to boost your points like education, spouse etc. Your NOC, the province u got nomination from and your time line pls? Wifey has the same HND not employed so her own side is out |

GraciousWords: You have inferred incorrectly....whatever anyone does they should just enter that pool. The CEC guy with CRS of 75 never saw his ITA coming in Feb 2021!
Get in the pool, now matter how low your CRS may seem, you just never know. 75 got ITA for real? Wow, I will get in the pool, thanks so much for the encouragement and kind words |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by leppyj(m): 9:41pm On May 22, 2022 |
GraciousWords: If I catch your drift, you are making a distinction between CRS points and Eligibility points and that is the right thing to do. BOTH CRS and eligibility points are reviewed when an application is submitted.
However, take a look at the Eligibility Grid again, you'll see an extra 4 points for second language https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/federal-skilled-workers/six-selection-factors-federal-skilled-workers.html
If your original calculation was correct and a 40 year old candidate was at 64, then getting a good score in TEF could move them to 68 (64 plus 4), thus making them eligible (greater than 67). You are right about PNP though, it adds nothing to one's eligibility points. Spouse IELTS does, so the OP hopes to get an extra 5 eligibility points there. 67 is usual not too hard to scale. Na for CRS wahala dey. Also, Ednut makes a valid point that I missed. CLB 8 is not enough for either CRS or Eligibility. CLB 9 will give extra 4 eligibility points compared to CLB 8. CLB 10 is what the aim should be. CLB 9 may be ok for Eligibility but CRS wise, the person is leaving 12 points on the table.
Page 1 though, you won't regret studying it.
@ Leppyj What I can infer from this is that meeting eligibility requirements of 67 for FSW and above does not make any difference as long as CRS scores remain low as far as EE is concerned, with that one should not bother to enter the pool? |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by leppyj(m): 9:35pm On May 22, 2022 |
observerspecial: That's precisely my point. Once you hit your 40s, attaining 67 points becomes elusive, unless you've got family ties and/or secured yourself a job offer. There could be some PNPs not linked to the EE program but with less lofty requirements. I guess it's just a question of research. I was told that to get job offere from here is almost impossible. I heard of AIP formerly AIPP that is not attached to the EE program. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by leppyj(m): 9:32pm On May 22, 2022 |
GraciousWords: I would highly recommend studying page 1 of this thread also. 67 is for ALL Express Entry. There is a FSW stream under EE, think of it as a sub category under EE.
40 year olds get PR under EE......some blood, sweat and tears may be involved though. Thanks, I will study page 1 very well...i pray I get PR too |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by leppyj(m): 8:44pm On May 22, 2022 |
observerspecial: Yeah. this is just a ranking system for selecting candidates in the entry pool. These points, however, are not factored in when assessing your application for the PR. In other words, you get no additional points towards the PR for being nominated. So, if you do not meet the minimum point requirements (67 points or above) for the actual PR, your application will likely be denied even if nominated by a designated province. Please correct me if I'm wrong. My own understanding is that the 67 points requirement is for FSW and the CRS is for Express entry. I might be very wrong though |

ednut1: clb 8 is a poor score for even someone with good age and masters. Clb 9 and clb dey there. Masters too increases the eligibility points, having a relative like uncle or aunt is 5 points too. Like gracious said tef is the way , a police officer cannot qualify for most pnp too. If he worked in sars or any the evil departments there too he cant pass security clearance of Canada too I never knew band 8 is poor, I am not a NPF officer, I work with NSCDC, never worked in any evil department like sars sir, no relatives in Canada, masters not an option for now, will check out the tef thread. Thanks |

observerspecial: Just a quick observation. It seems as though once you hit 40 or more, your chances for obtaining a PR under the express entry quickly fade.
Based on the info provided above, leppyj will not even qualify for the PR under the express entry system. He will need at least 67 points.
Age (40) = 7 Language proficiency (CBL8) = 20 Work experience (10) = 15 Education (HND) = 22 Adaptability = 0 Arranged employment = 0 ______________________________ Total = 64
I guess to qualify, leppyj, will need a job offer, or meet some other adaptability factors (e.g. studied and/or worked in Canada for at least 1 year).
So the question is, those in their 40s that have made it into Canada, what route did you follow? Thanks for this, I am even considering letting my spouse write IELTS so as to get 5 more points for FSW. The issue of getting a job offer seems to be a knotty one, though I will appreciate any help/info in that regard. |

Good evening folks, I am 40 years old, married, I have HND in electrical engineering, I have been working in a paramilitary organisation for the past 10 years, done ECA already, I have CLB 8 in ielts. The problem I have is that I don't know which NOC to choose ( I wanted to choose 2241 as I had once worked in the technical department once and I also saw 0431 and 4311 that is similar to what I do in my present place of work though not a personnel of the Nigeria police force but another law enforcement agency with similar mandates) I need all the advice and pointers I can get. |
