The former president said that besides proper devolution of powers, there was need for a review of revenue sharing formula in favour of the states and the local government councils. He said that a greater percentage of revenue should go to the state and local governments because their closeness to the masses.
I believe adequate money is being shared to the states and local govts, yes they are close to the masses but do they care about the masses?

I just finished from driving school so I felt confident that I was good to go.
I took the car on a friday and I drove perfectly on the street even on the express road.
I took it out again on satuday to the market and also visited a friend,on getting back I hit the car on the fence and the bricks fell plus the gate and car damaged. I jumped out of the car sweating like christmas chicken I didn't touch the car for a whole month due to fear. grin

PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 12:32am On Oct 21, 2013
Katsumoto: To ensure that development spreads to all parts, I believe that various areas should be strategic capitals. Lagos of course will be economic capital, Ogun industrial, Ekiti/Ondo - academic, Ife/Osun - Spiritual, Ibadan - administrative, etc.
Hmm,brilliant.
A particular thing will be designated to kwara as well.
I do feel there will be battle for supremacy though and disagreement on choosing leaders.
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 12:22am On Oct 21, 2013
Desola: Tell me, was Lagos made capital of Nigeria because it had the largest population of Nigerians at the time?

YOur arguments are stale.
Calm your nerves madam, this is not an arguement. This is just a question.
I don't have to agree to your tribalist arguments.
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 12:13am On Oct 21, 2013
Katsumoto: You should stop calling them a minority in the West. You don't need a census to know that there is no group with a majority in the West, so all groups individually are minorities. Don't create a schism where none exists.
I see, let's assume there is yoruba or oodua republic, who then rules or which state becomes the headquater?

OAM4J: What will make them powerless? Which core south will dominate them?

Where have you seen or read in modern times of any Yoruba part dominating another?

And you think they will be more honored and welcomed with their Yoruba language in the North?
I wrote it in one of my post earlier, whoever chosen to go with, they will be a minority whether the west or the north.
Their usefulness will be dependent on the impact they make on either region.
Although I sincerely wish nigeria remains the same and we should not separate. It pays to remain as one for everyone is dependent on another no matter how much we shy away from the truth.
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 11:39pm On Oct 20, 2013
alj harem: exactly, Oduduwa should not be the subject of discussion here. Your History on yoruba is quite poor and thus misleading others. Read Katsumoto's post in light of that.

Kwarans especially Ilorin people are not fulanis but yorubas but other migrants such as the hausa and fulani are present in the city. This does not apply to the whole of Kwara state and certainly does not mean Yoruba speaking parts stops at Ilorin. Moreover there is not part of Kwara that does not speak Yoruba even Edu and Patagi. Go to Niger state especially Jebba, their is an Oba there speaking yoruba etc after river Oya or Niger as we know it.
I know all these oga smiley, all parts of kwara speak yoruba but it doesn't mean all kwarans are yoruba.
Then history on yoruba: I dint write anything on that, you can see that I am catching humour with the guy that said ijebus are not yoruba.
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 11:36pm On Oct 20, 2013
9jacrip: My friend, Oduduwa did not give birth to Yoruba. He only introduced the Obaship/Kingship system which his sons spread across Yoruba land and this is why he's a very significant figure. Before Oduduwa, there had Yoruba people living in in Ife but operated a loose political system which Oduduwa forged into a monarchy system - there are several journals/books on this and if you search through NL you'd find interesting threads where such topics have been discussed at length. If you look in the posts of Katsumoto, DuduNegro, TonySpike, Tolexander to mention a few, you'd find enlightening reads.
Alright thanks. smiley
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 11:34pm On Oct 20, 2013
Desola: My dear, the question you should ask yourself is: Do majority of Kwarans see the Saraki family as corrupt? In so far as Kwarans hail the Saraki family who have imposed itself the defacto ruler of the Kwarans, Kwarans would continue to align with the north.

If you are bent on the course of not ceding kwara to the north, then you need to start a reorientation programe in Kwara to relieve them of the Saraki brainwash. They need to be unshackled from the Saraki slavery chains before they can think of charting their own destiny.
Until there is a strong opposition for saraki in kwara, who would not be selfish and would have the interest of the people at heart, who is also ready to pump money into politics then saraki will continue to be the leader.
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 11:28pm On Oct 20, 2013
alj harem: So Oduduwa gave birth to the Yoruba race ? LOL

Oduduwa is just a uniting figure whether myth or real does not matter and does not relate to this discussion
I can see you just joined this and you are trying to make a point,go through the thread from page two and check if oduduwa has been mentioned severally or not.
One talk leads to another and therefore it is relevant in the discussion.
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 11:25pm On Oct 20, 2013
alj harem: lertee is a troll really grin grin

@ Op you are absolutely correct not only about Kwara or even Illorin in particular but also Kogi west/central and delta west.

The truth is that Illorin people are not enlightened about their history and have been brain-washed for years but fulanis. I met someone was called himself/herself fulani and it took me an hour to convince and tell the person why Islam DOES NOT EQUATE TO BEING A FULANI. He/she is Yoruba, speaks yoruba (although halfyorubafulani father and halfyorubafulani mother). A very interesting mix I said to myself. This person is from the ilorin caliphate quite alright but I gave the person history and actually convinced the person why his/her kids are yoruba.

They speak Hausa,Fulani and Yoruba in the house quite fluently but their lifestyle is yoruba. I believe if I can convince such a person then it is possible to educate a minority of them. Although NO ONE SHOULD FORCE ANYONE. IF THEY ARE MORE YORUBA OR MORE FULANI LET THEM BE anything but IGBO is fine by me grin grin grin grin grin grin JK jk jk just let them be wink

note: apologise for not specifying the gender cus the person knows me smiley
Thumb down for this.

9jacrip: You seem to be very interested in Yoruba history, why is that? I'm curious.

The history of Oduduwa being Saudi Arabian does not hold water and has been debunked severally.

Lastly, Oduduwa, he did not 'give birth' to Yoruba, so we're not from wherever Oduduwa was from.
I am curious as well, where is the origin of yorubas then if not where oduduwais from? Who gave birth to the yorubas? Orunmila, sango, obatala or who?
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 11:14pm On Oct 20, 2013
shymexx: Bwahahahahaha.

Yes, we the Ijebu's were Arabs before modern-day pale-skinned Arabs. Their race started probably during the 23th dynasty in Egypt, however, we existed before them.

Anyway, we the Ijebu's used to live in Palestine and we were the Jebusites of yore. Migrated to Waddai, before coming to present day Nigeria, with our Itsekiri brothers. We're NOT Yoruba's. Perhaps, that's why a lot of pretentious Yoruba's hate us. grin cool
What are you saying in essence? That ijebu should be carved away from yoruba?
Even oyo shouldn't be classified as yoruba then, judging from history, the ogbomoshos are baruba settlers.
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 11:05pm On Oct 20, 2013
shymexx: What are people letting trolls derail the thread?

You've got an Ijebu hater on the thread who would rather side with opposing groups than support Yoruba's. Her people also need to join the Fulani's and the Afonja's. Else, Ijebu's are also not Yoruba's. We came from Waddai in Sudan!!!
Hehehehe, even from history, oduduwa himself was a saudi arabian. So yorubas are arabs. undecided
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 10:54pm On Oct 20, 2013
Afam4eva: Most Ilorin folks that i have come across call themselves Yorubas though they have this northern disposition to them. I think the problem is mostly with their elites who would rather align with the north both politically and even culturally. I have heard the utterances of people like Bukola Saraki and other Kwara leaders and they're not disposed to the hole Yoruba thingy. That's why i'm concerned about how those that will represent the various ethnic groups will be chosen.
Let's say in politics, you allign with where you are wanted more. If they allign with the west, politically they will be powerless cos the core south western prts will dominate.
There is confusion in ilorin as to where they belong due to history as well as the geo-political sharing which makes kwara fall to the North central.
Infact the major question should be“where will kwara, kogi, benue, nasarawa fall should Nigeria separates”
PoliticsRe: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by lertee(f): 10:45pm On Oct 20, 2013
papparatzzi2013: Ilorin east and west have a majority Yoruba population and even moro and isin.

Isin comprises several towns and communities including Isanlu Isin, Ijara isin, Owu isin, Iwo, Oke-Aba, Oke-Onigbin, Alla, EDidi, Odo-Eku, Oba, Iji, Pamo, Oponda, Igbesi, Eleyin, Kudu-Owode etc. To the north of Isin are Igbajaland,Oraland and Ireland; to the west are Ajasse Ipo and Oro; to the east are Oro-Ago and Olla and Osi in Ekiti LG; while to the south are Apaland, Arandun and Omu-Aran.
Yes the same classification, you only expanded it. smiley
