Congratulations! Ngoven: *VISA APPROVED*
*NO FUNDING* *NO SCHOLARSHIP* *UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM* *LOCATION: USA EMBASSY ABUJA* *DATE: 23/11/2020* *WINDOW 8*
I arrived to the embassy by 7:30am and myself appointment was 10am. On the avenue, those hustlers of money stopped me and said I should wait for them to check my documents and see if it wasn't complete and I insisted that it was complete before I saw up to 5 persons there who were asked to go and get 5x5 passport size , where as I am with 2x2. I allowed them to check my documents and they said I would have to reprint my DS 160 confirmation, showed me the one the embassy would need and I agreed. I asked how much and he said #4,500 and passport #2,500 which summed to be #7,000. I began bargaining with them and finally gave them #4,000 for both respectively.
I went inside there and do the needful processes . Now the interview proper which was around 9:30am.

*FINDINGS:*
I found out that one should fee relax and be confident enough. Have it in mind that two things, one much happen today because you have come and no going back, it will help you relax your mind. Dress like a student you are.
Lastly, pray fervently because God never changes. Even as I entered there, I said to myself self , US embassy, here I come and I will never go out with my an approved visa and I said 3 hail Mary prayer. Even as the VO was typing endlessly, I continued to say "Hail Mary in my heart".
I pray that those having their interview ahead will got approval message. |

JulianBarnes: Date: Friday November 20 Location: Lagos
Duration: (The VO could make 58 seconds feel like ten minutes)
Status: Approved
Atmosphere: I was among the first eleven applicants ushered in for the 7AM interview. After the biometric screening, we waited for what looked like some good fifteen minutes or so before two windows commenced interviews. The VO at window 9 ( I believe the window that is directly opposite the only door that leads to the interview hall is 9) denied four people straight and approved two. From my observation, the four either didn't have adequate/ full funding as she went through the bank statements for about three of them or she wasn't convinced. All this time, the other VO adjacent to window 9 had just concluded two interviews and granted one approval and one denial. I didn't need to pass further maths to know that the dx/dy didn't balance in window 9. I wanted an escape from this mathematical disequilibrium. But before I could do so, I found myself presenting my documents to her.
I stood in front of her for a few seconds to allow her to finish up what she's typing.
VO: Good morning Me: Good morning
VO: Let's first get your scanning done. You will have to put your four right fingers here for me….
VO: Where are you going to?
Me: I am going to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for a master's program in Creative Writing.
VO: ( does as if she's not listening). You said you are going to Miami Florida? Me: No. I'm going to Miami University, in Oxford Ohio.
VO: What did you say you are going to study in Florida?
Me: (temi bami). I'm going to Miami University, Oxford Ohio for a master's in Creative Writing.
VO: Okay. Why did you choose Miami University in Ohio? Me: I chose Miami University because of the prospect of working with prof xyx. She's a brilliant writer and will be mentoring me on lyrical essays, a sub-genre I'm passionate about. But that's not all. Miami University provides a stimulating environment for the study of the craft, culture and criticism of …
VO: (cuts in) What will be your focus? Me: Nonfiction Writing VO: What do you write about? Me: I write lyrical essays about losses, cities, people and places and the contradictions of contemporary life. As a writer, I don't see people or places for who they're or what they're but the stories that made them. I see a bridge and I want to know the story behind it. Did people try to blow it up during a civil war? What will life be like without it? I have written about my experiences about places I have been to. I write about these things because stories matter and shape how we see the world, people and ourselves. I submitted some of these essays to the admission committee.
VO: (behaves like she's typing and not paying attention to me, but was in fact listening as she spoke immediately I stopped speaking) Who's covering the cost?
Me: I received a Graduate Assistantship that covers monthly stipend and tuition waiver. (She peers into my I-20). My cousin will cover the deficit.
VO: Where does your cousin work?
Me: He works with xyz construction company.
VO: Are you married? Me: No VO: Do you have kids? Me: No
VO: (about three seconds of silence). She begins to rifle through a stack of papers for a white paper, and I thought I was done for. But she then added a yellow paper to my passport and confessed those words that we have read on this thread several times when a Visa is approved. By this time, I was retrieving my passport and the yellow and white paper and wasn't even capable of listening to anything from her. The music of approval had left me deaf to instructions.
Tips: I have no new tips. All the tips in previous transcripts here are mostly true and tested. I'm rather grateful to those who posted their transcripts here courageously, even when they experienced temporary delays to their pursuits, so we could all learn. You're the real deal and I wish you all the best. May your desires find expression soon. Big congratulations! |

GeoOla25: It’s really a crazy and frustrating feeling... I am having a similar issue, i spent much of my hours monitoring the reschedule page for an earlier date but nothing positive yet... this is so draining... I call them today as well .. but there is no assurance that getting another MRV and requesting for Emergency that the appointment will be granted.... this so confusing and draining! I swear man. It’s just so so confusing and draining. I think one may just have to risk another MRV if nothing happens this week. |

Since time is far spent already, today is already 16th, was denied emergency appointment, been waiting for new dates for almost two weeks now. What do u guys suggest I do? My program begins in January 3rd.
I’m really very confused and worried now. I call the embassy everyday, and they say there’s nothing that can be done, I should just keep monitoring my page hoping they release early dates soon. I don’t just want to be hoping there and time is going.
Please guys advise me on what to do......Thanks. |

Ftos: We're you within 60 days to the start of your program when you requested for DS160? I think it takes 3 days after submission of DS160 and 3 days after sevis fee payment for it can reflect on there system. Yes my program starts in January, 5th to be precise. But let’s assume my application for the emergency appointment was to quick, what about people who followed the wholes of three days after submission and all that but were still denied the emergency appointment? And no reasons were given. I really don’t get. But it’s passed now, I’m hopeful that dates will be released soon, because going to pay another MRV fee is not even an assurance that one will get the Emergency appointment approved. |

GeoOla25: Calm down.. just take your time .. you will definitely secure an appointment, do you mean you cannot login on your portal or is it only the rescheduling icon is what you can’t access? Just be patient.. hopefully there will be available dates in December. Where u can view your appointment date. But I will call them later just to try my luck. |

zeeLady: they are very likely to deny your application. Please quickly email/upload your sevis receipt NOW. if you read the instruction on their website, you wont be blowing your chances like this My account has been frozen until 72 hours. It’s getting frustrating. I will upload my sevis receipt once it’s unfrozen. But there are also people who uploaded everything and were still denied emergency appointments, what do u say to that?? Is there anything I can do to release my account now since it’s been frozen |

Ftos: Did you upload your I20 and sevis fee receipt? Also, were you within 60 days to the start of the program when you applied? Yes my I-20 was uploaded and admission letter, but sevis receipt wasn’t uploaded. I don’t think that’s the issue anyways, what I suspect was wrong with my application for emergency appointment is that I noticed I just took and screenshot of my I-20 the way it was sent to me and uploaded it, I didn’t upload the printed screenshot I had signed. So today when giving a feedback on my dashboard I uploaded the one I signed on the column I am supposed to sign and sent to them. They said they will reply within one or two working days. Fingers crossed. By Gods Grace it will happen. |
