So this journey ds started with an intent in 2021 to acquire a dual citizen future for my kids visa study route since Express Entry was no longer feasible.

Did tons of research, mostly for info from Nairaland here.

Applied for study permit for Family of 5 (we are 6, as 1 child is a US citizen, we wanted to birth the last one in Canada as wifey had applied and gotten visitor visa in Jan 2020 but was unable to travel because of covid. We tried to birth her in the US but they denied us, thanks to Trump).

So we applied for visa (SP for me and 2 kids, VV for 1 kid, SOWP for wifey) precisely April 30th for the whole fam. Did upfront medicals. 5 days after submission, I began bombing Nairobi office emails with request to update medicals. Medicals were updated on 18th May.

6 weeks after application I started bombarding Nairobi office on status update, applied for gcms notes (it never came out till today), applied for status update thru MP who reverted that our well phonology was under review, although nothing was showing in portal.

I continued with emails firing, updating it every week, sending every Monday and Friday 3 emails per day. Praying them to consider my application on the need to get decision on time to finalize plans for family travel.

Charitojames, 2pretty4u were my goto posts for encouragement.

PPR came for all of us at once on 24 Aug.

Stamped passports on 1st Sept.

Tried to defer till January 2023 but school refused. So I had to quickly buy ticket for myself to ga'an resume. While I will return to pick family after Xmas.

Ethiopian airline departure was 19th Sept. Arrived Abuja Airport, Africa just ask N1500 mk I carry my big bag of foods dey go..I kukuma give an a I no want long talk.

Paid excess luggage about N88k (walahi, I pack foods no be small.. made a checklist from una plenty submissions here... I only saw indomie chicken, I kukuma but 2 cartons brave am like that). Wrapped my bag at the airlift before check in.

Carried hands luggage and extra back pack.
PS: weda or not you are paying excess luggage, your bag cannot exceed 32k..... so know how to sort your things amongst different baah not to exceed 32kg per bag... I sweat like easter ghost while doing this because I have to be weighing the bag after every item removed or added.

Flight route: Abuja - Addiss Ababa (5hrs), had a 2 hr layover that felt like 30 minutes.... Addis Ababa- Dublin (8.5hrs)... speed for refueling, we didn't disembark the aircraft..... another long one Dublin - Toronto (6.5hrs)... I ate during the Abuja-addis flight, n only had dessert for the Addiss-Dublin. I like to travel light so that local man no go tell pilot say make e Park mid air make I enter Bush go do Number 2..... I am choosy like that.. lol


arrived Toronto 8am, did Self declaration, went to immigration, they only asked for LOI, and asked us all student to sitdon. 10 minutes later. They came out with printed study permit. Ushered me to a counter, Arab guy say, give me your study permit and passport, stamped me in. Finito.

Went to baggage claim, picked up my bags, went to drop off with connecting flight Air Canada to Moncton which doesn't take off for another 4 hrs.. omo make I dey waka about dey look.

Na so we see an.. already missing my fam, but no qualms.. if they miss me too much, mk they buy ticket come as visa dey dia pocket.

Do Ircc flag emails? I mean maybe when you email them too much, do they flag emails so they don’t receive anymore from you lol

You are not supposed to submit the form via email or webform. I sent you the link on how to go about it yesterday. Below is the link again.

Then click on "if we sent you the request via your account" . Then follow the steps listed there.

I have filled it and sent via webforms and emails
I logged on to check if it has been updated

I mentioned technical difficulties here because I read on their site that if you can’t submit a document, you can send it to them via webform and letting them know it’s technical difficulties that’s why you’re sending via webform.

The money part is okay . U should HV included Ur degree cert or statement of result. Also, hope Ur tailored your sop that your previous work was done in an hospitality to show career progression. Because there's no relationship between what u studied and what u are going for . These are just my few observations but las las them need your money and it clear your people are capable and u will be granted. Be hopeful

After filling the form , save it, then you will have to login to your IRCC account and upload the completed imm5257 where it was requested.

I only have the form for the first one. I don’t know about the second one.
I hope you know you can only open it with PC?

If you are applying with a passport from a country that doesn't require a visa to visit Canada then IMM5257 is optional. But since you are from Nigeria , you need to fill that form. To make it clearer to you;
IMM1294 : is for your study permit application.
IMM5257: is for the visa you will use to travel to Canada, if your study permit is approved.

If you fail to fill and submit the IMM5257 before the deadline , then your study permit application will most likely be rejected.

Provided you're not from a visa-exempt country (which Nigeria definitely isn't) you must apply for a TRV
TRV is what they give when they stamp your passport, it is what grants you entry into Canada while the study permit lets you Study in Canada.
Please fill it as soon as possible

It’s asking for (Application for a Temporary Resident Visa made outside Canada IMM 5257)
Deadline to be submitted October 8.

Even tho form for Application of study permit made outside canada has been submitted and acknowledged.

I asked Agent about this & she said it isn’t necessary as it’s the same details as Imm1294.

Please what do y’all think about this? Is she right?

Hello guys I've come back to post my timeline

2nd time applicant by the way
Applied June 9th
When I applied my previous medical was still valid so I had to wait for it to expire before doing another one
Submitted upfront medical - July 12th
Medical passed - August 3rd
At this point, I was already hoping PPR would come before my birthday which is August 16th but IRCC had other plans for me it seems�
Waited and waited, Started sending webforms immediately application reached 12 weeks
Then eligibility review started 1st of September yay!
After that, I kept logging in every day until last week I just decided to check my submitted documents and noticed that the client information section had a deadline of 3rd of October. I quickly drafted a letter of explanation with the help of my uncle and my parents �
and I submitted it via webforms and to 4 Nairobi visa office email addresses.
The status of the client information is still showing 'Not provided'
Finally yesterday, PPR while I was in online class.

Documents submitted
1. IMM1294
2. birth certificate
3. passport
4. letter of acceptance & confirmation of enrolment
5. mybankstatement & scholarship letter
6. digital photo
7. IMM5645
8. IMM5257
9. Proof of upfront medical exam

That's pretty much it!
For any June/July applicants don't worry too much you're next!

It was stated we did not receive your required medical result and this even caused a refusal. And the refusal state----You have not complied with our request for information, per subsection 16(1.1) of the IRPA. To date, you have failed to comply with our request for an examination.

And the medical was done submitted by iom and i also submited the medical myself through webform. It hurts oo

She can only change schools and program once she’s inside canada.
And I don’t think she can travel until December for winter 2023.
