At exactly 02.44am, the Chairman of INEC, after an exhaustive over 5 hours (lengthy meeting) assessment and review of the preparation for the 16 Feb 2019 elections, announced that INEC, following logistics challenges and in determination to conduct a free, fair and credible election, will discontinue with the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections which were earlier scheduled for Saturday 16 Feb 2019.

Consequently, INEC decided to reschedule the presidential elections to Saturday 23rd February 2019 while the governorship , state and FCT Area Council elections will be on Saturday 9th March 2019.

The INEC Chairman reiterated that it was a difficult decision to make however, INEC would meet with stakeholders at 2pm, 16th of February 2019 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
