Romance › Re: Is It Appropriate To Help My Married Ex? by Lexusgs430: 8:20am On Apr 18 |
Toolegit123: Good day my Nairaland fam.
Please, matured minds in the house,is it a good thing for a man to help his ex girlfriend who's now married, financially. She used to be someone whom I loved so dearly in the past but unfortunately, she broke up with me immediately she met someone who was already asking her hand in marriage. It's been over 3 years since she got married and I made sure I cut every bit of communication between us. Out of the blue,I don't know who gave her my number. She called me,and apologized for what she did to me. Even before she could ask for my help,I already knew her husband wasn't financially buoyant like I thought. She said she wants to open a provision store ,cuz immediately after they got married, they relocated to Lagos. And she asked for my assistance.
So,I don't know if it's appropriate at all to help her, considering how she left me emotionally stranded when I needed her the most in my life. Tho I've completely moved on with my life, but receiving a call from her brought back a whole lot of memories.
Please,my fellow Nairalanders, reason with me. Should I help her out? One day, you go get sense..... Either by FORCE OR FIRE...... 🤣😂🤣 |

Human ingenuity would continue to blossom and the market would reflect this. If not for anything, the advent of fiat money, guaranteed government printing and inflation ensures money flows to the market at least nominally. The less your stomach can accept a dip in your portfolio...... Is simply a product of your own panache..... 😁😊 A floating loss, is much better than an actual loss.... 😢😂 |

Goodenoch: ISA, LISA, SIPP - All set for regular investments every month and auto-purchases of my selected ETF (just one across all three - I have given up trying to pick stocks (PLTR did me good last year but the seesaws aren't good for my emotional wellbeing lol).
I think dollar cost averaging is the best way to do it and not trying to time the market, which with Trump at the help of affairs; is infinitely more difficult to do now anyway. Your time in the market is more important, than attempting to time the market..... Except you have a massive chest of funds to deploy, for snatch and grab....... 😊 |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Lexusgs430: 11:03pm On Apr 12 |
Goodenoch: It is true that the market has always returned from a slump but depending on when a person needs to access their funds, it might as well be permanently slumped. E.g. If a person was planning to retire in the early 2000s, they'd have started drawing from their funds right at the beginning of the lost decade (the peak of the dot-com bubble in March 2000 through March 2010 when the S&P 500 was down 24%).
That would have been crushing because even though the market rose again they'd have ate a huge drop and also been drawing funds to live on. Assuming the standard 4% drawdown rate, they may have lost close to 60% of all their funds in that 10 year period). To avoid selling in a negative position, one MUST plan for multiple sources of retirement funding + plan strategically...... For example, you can pull funds from your private pensions and state pension.... Let's assume your ISA is not performing well, keep watching it...... 🤣 |

jedisco: Lol @Lamborghini Revuelto. Had to look it up. E be like say your eye don dey look big things.
Finally, it takes balls to sink large money in at once when the market is down. Markets would only fall for a reason and anytime it's down, majority of folks would call for even lower prices. In retrospect, it's always clear. Reason I saluted the chap who put £20k on 6th April last yr. Historically, how many times have the markets, never returned from a slump........ 😁 |

jedisco: With the new tax year, how are folks planning to utilise their tax-sheltered accounts?
I remember last year, someone filled his ISA on 6th April and bought a global fund. That was during Trumps tarrif market selloff- in a short period, he was well in the positive.
I thought about that this year as the markets were down due to Trumps Iran war. Would we have a v-shaped recovery again? Well, if investing for the long-term, these small moves don't really matter and its said that if one has a lump sum, a one off buy beats piecemeal investing in majority of cases. With direct debits long term investors.this swings would simply not affect our portfolios greatly..... But imagine having a £3 million pot on standby, taking advantages of this swings..... A 20% upside is enough to buy you a Lamborghini Revuelto....... 🤣😂 |

Borrow2222: You’re correct.
But they are always quick to blame immigrants over an incident.
Last year, a British woman was inhaling balloons (laughing gas) while driving, Not only did she run a red light, she drove straight on and hit 2 elderly people, killing them instantly.
Why didn’t they blame all British women for that accident? Absolutely.... Unfortunately migrants are seen as strangers in their lands and are the softest of touches and quick to blame....... |

Why didn’t they blame all British women for that accident? I get your point.... I can also be involved in any form of accidents, despite having a full DL..... Why did the guy in question, still retake his driving test and eventually passing it, after the fatal accident..... |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Lexusgs430: 6:30pm On Apr 12 |
Borrow2222: As if people with a full UK driving licence don’t have accidents anymore.
It is mostly down to the individual and not the licence, because someone with a UK driving licence can still be involved in accidents that result in loss of life.
I’ve seen people run red lights. Yes, you're absolutely right... But that tragedy would not be attributed to the illegality of that driver in question...... I hope you get the point..... A vehicle is deemed a dangerous weapon, if handled by unlicensed individuals...... |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Lexusgs430: 6:28pm On Apr 12 |
Goke7: Wow, this is terrible. Even if one is allowed to drive for a year with a foreign licence, it's advisable to at least study and understand all the rules of the road in the UK asap. If this had been well understood, this accident would have been avoided. The theoretical understanding is as improtant as passing the practical driving test. Not knowing who had the right of way was what led to this disaster. The recommendation from the coroner, is the bit, if implemented would affect plenty...... |
