Manchester United is a quick transition counter-attacking team, that is our identity, that is our DNA. The board should not be unfortunate to bring in a Manager that doesn't place this style, no more nonsense possession, payout from the back, 3 at the back rubbish. If United can tempt Hansi Flicks away from Barcelona, let them sign him up or wait till after the World Cup to sign Julian Nagelsmann..
Man Utd’s identity is not quick transition or whatever. It is WINNING. anything other than that and wahala dey always sup.

Do you remember Ole’s style? It was the same quick transition counter attacking football that you mentioned. But it was never enough to win games consistently.

Plus you can’t have one style of play in the premier league. As evidenced with Ole, other teams will set up exactly to counter that. SAF played possession football, quick transition and even borefests that ended in 1-0 victories— all just to win.

United fans, including you, don’t care about formation or 3 at the back or counter attack or whatever. We just need to win and win consistently. And several things have to be put in place to achieve that.

Fletcher as interim coach..lol.From frying pan to fire.Amorim is far better than him
Fletcher is basically going to be their lapdog. They’ll tell him what tactics and what players to use. Like an overbearing step mother.

They are tunnel-vision people.

With every sacking things appear to get worse. Even this interim appointment of Fletcher dey risky. He has been coaching for less than 6 months.

The first thing I did when I hear the news was to go to check out points in the table to make sure say relegation no dey possible this season again.

Like I always say, the sacking of a coach is not the main issue but the appointment of the replacement is where we stumble. We also need to improve in squid building.

The only manager left that I have some hope in is Nagelsmann but he is another philosophy king. With the last 2 appointments those philosophers don dey scare me.
We are very safe from relegation. Abi? Even without a coach, we should be able to get 10 points from the remaining 18 games. It’s probably why they placed another rookie in Fletcher to take charge.

We are 6th. Same points with Chelsea so I don't know what you want this season with the squad you have since you said you don't want to challenge for title
Na lie.

Every United manager will be expected to challenge for the title. Even when we finished second with Ole and Mourinho, it was never enough.

Why are Chelsea, Barca and Madrid fans not tired of manager sackings? Even fans of bottom and mid table club don’t complain like this. Utd fans are just somehow. Maybe it’s ambivalence. I don’t know.
That’s because they’re more experienced at squad building and planning.

When last did you see these teams have just one competent player and 5 inexperienced academy kids on their bench for consecutive match days?

It was the outburst yesterday. I knew they were trying to keep him based on the long term plan and nonsense that they’ve been telling us since forever.
It was outburst that triggered the sack not the bad results? That’s more evidence of incompetency.

Lol. Naso dem dey do. Not only on nairaland. The complaints are on every social media platform. It’s just unbelievable.
You don’t think it’s because people are tired of the sackings whilst the club keeps getting more rotten?

Or do you think United have been getting better with the sackings?

From Jose to Ole to ETH to Amorim. The results keep getting poorer even though the expectations remained the same.

My only concern now is the replacement. I don't want us to be back here in the same place in 2028
Better prepare yourself for the worst. This board wants a perfect replacement that doesn’t exist. They want a top competent coach who will be their puppet whilst using an inferior squad with the expectation to compete with them City and Arsenal.

And the worst thing is that they themselves are incompetent.

I don’t like Ineos at all, but to be honest, they have put in place the so called structure fans were craving for. I do agree that they got it wrong with manager appointment. I would assume that they thought they could get him to do their bid given he’s a young manager seeking professional progress or the well experienced CEO, director etc did tell him what they were looking to achieve irrespective of the 3-4-3 nonsense.

But getting the wrong manager for a particular system and structure is a common issue across clubs. You realize it early and move on. Unfortunately, Amorim is a fish bone in their throats. Management does not want to follow the ‘sack and fire’ approach that most fans hate, hence the reason Amorim is still here.
Amorim is not a fish bone in their throats. They’re just cowards.

If they want to sack him, they can easily do that. But they want to tell him how to do his job. They want to turn him into a puppet because of external pressure. And since he’s decided not to bend to their will , they’re leaking selective information to the press to make him look bad and add pressure on him.

I really think Ineos is giving the fans what they wanted. I remember the whole conversation and demand for a structure in place with the said structure determining the style of football we want to play. We would only need a manager that will come in to play based on the players signed for him and the style to play. The only mistake they’ve made is to get someone like Amorim who is inflexible and is insisting on playing a particular formation.

Amorim should stop moaning and whining about the concept of coach vs manager and start getting results by adapting. The 3-4-3/5-2-3 nonsense won’t take us anywhere. It’s mainly for mid and bottom table teams that want to have 5-6 defenders on the pitch.
You don’t think the “structure” goofed by appointing a philosophical coach who has a totally different football strategy/structure/system to what they thought they wanted and was very clear with them from day 1 about it?

We know say you be Glazer and INEOS mouthpiece but softly softly.

Such a shame Mainoo and his brother decided to be unfortunate. He would’ve gotten good minutes during this period, enough to pick up form and potentially displace someone from the starting XI.

Casemiro Maino Bruno midfield with Cunha and Sesko ahead won’t be bad. Mainoo and Bruno would rotate the AM position. That’s because Mbeumo looks tired and lethargic every game now. He needs some rest on the bench.

People say he's not served meanwhile he's useless.

A striker that cannot hustle a goal from nothing should remain at the academy.

He's just making up numbers at this point.
I think he’s going to get better. He just needs to settle down and know his teammates better. I’m expecting him to come good. The attributes are there. We need to beat that ginger and hustling spirit into him.

If he hustles half as hard as Weghorst did, with all his talents, I’m certain he’d get at least 20 league goals every season.

He also made many runs that were ignored.
Then he and his teammates need to have a serious conversation. They have to understand each other better about those runs.

I’m sure Bruno would never ignore his runs. Licha too. But you see Ugarte and Dalot. If you see the ball with those two, don’t bother to run. They will never find you.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 3:39pm On Jan 04
Heaven. What a player. Seeing good things from him. Can play in a 2-man or3-man defence. If he’s injury free and reliable, we can build that defense around him. Could be the start of something good.

What a talent.

If we manage him and Yoro well, we might have our defense sorted for years. Really love what I’m seeing from that kid. He was out of the team for a while. Kept his head low, worked hard, and is now developing nicely. There’s room for improvement but the foundation looks solid.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 3:35pm On Jan 04
Sesko needs that ginger spirit. There were several moments his teammates were looking for him and he was just lackadaisical.

He’ll get there.
