🚨🎙️ | “I was told when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer met with Jason Wilcox he understandably, to a large extent said:
‘If I do a good job and get you Champions League football, what is the REWARD?’
‘I'd like something written into my contract that says if I achieve that, then there is a SUBSTANTIVE contract at the end of it.'
“No such requests from Michael Carrick significantly, he has played a blinder here and managed the situation very, very well.”

nitrogen: See list of midfielders (including attacking) we have bought since Ferguson retired. Most of these guys were the best in their respective clubs.
Defensive / Holding / Deep • Marouane Fellaini • Morgan Schneiderlin • Bastian Schweinsteiger • Nemanja Matić • Casemiro • Sofyan Amrabat (loan → later permanent context-dependent) We bought jambody Fellaini from Everton to come and comtrol our midfield. Morgan Schneiderlin no get liver to play for top club. Bastian was practically finished when we bought him. Chelsea fans were already calling Nemanja bag of beans before we splashed 40m on him. And he wasn’t that bad sef. Casemiro was an expensive signing that only had 2 years left at the top level. The less spoken about Amrabat, the better. Box-to-Box • Ander Herrera • Paul Pogba • Fred • Mason Mount • Marcel Sabitzer (loan)
Attacking / Creative • Juan Mata • Henrikh Mkhitaryan • Bruno Fernandes • Christian Eriksen • Donny van de Beek
Also adding Academy players: • Jesse Lingard – attacking midfielder • Scott McTominay – box-to-box / defensive • Kobbie Mainoo – central / box-to-box (key modern starter) • Andreas Pereira – attacking / central • James Garner – defensive / deep-lying • Hannibal Mejbri – box-to-box • Zidane Iqbal – central midfielder Of these lot, Pogba and Bruno are the only ones worthy to start in Man Utd at the moment they were bought. You even listed Scott McTom as if he was a good passer of the ball. His best atttibutr was crashing the box and that’s it. And what does key modern starter mean? 😭 😭 The same Kobbie we saw today and against Grimsby? The best for that kid is to keep getting sub minutes until he’s up to speed. He should not be a starter I’m sorry. In a team requiring competent starters, we’re parading squad options. And we want to compete with top teams. |

Jamiuokolaa: It is you that failed to understand simple, concise English.
A Holistic approach should be adopted to address the needs of the team such that we wouldnt strengthen one area and start crying mid season about another department - same way we have been doing on these pages year in year out! You know what I’m talking about. You’re just doing strong head. The difference in quality between our current midfielders and what we aspire to is quite wide… compared with the wings. Safe to say, we’re sorted on the right wing. Left wing, what’s the difference between Cunha and Semenyo? Compare that with the difference between Mainoo, Urgarte and someone like Baleba or whoever you think will be competent enough for us. |

Jamiuokolaa: The initial comparison was with City and i highlighted why we shouldnt compare with them - they have CL money to spend and are also partaking in more competitions this season. When we were playing CL and had CL money, how may players did we buy per season? Is it not the same 2/3 major incomings heavy laden with hype and a tad overpaid for? |

Jamiuokolaa: Just one injury or loss of form to Mbuemo/Amad and the story would change to how Cunha has been shyte since we bought him yet the board did nothing.
How Mount has spent more time in the hospital yet we stuck with him
No be this thread again? Na today? We need reinforcements on the wings as well but at this moment the midfield is more important. It’s astounding how that point flew over your head. |

eph12: Fletcher last interview, he was singing the song the owners will love to hear. How the United DNA is all about the academy and wanting to look inwards. I just laughed because he will be sacked very soon if he tries that as the manager That one na yes man now. That’s what he’s expected to say. Meanwhile, transfer window will soon close and we won’t strengthen that midfield in any manner this January. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 8:46pm On Jan 11 |
Jamiuokolaa: I never said a CM is not priority. I only pointed out another sore point that should be taken seriously, despite spending 62m to strengthen the same department barely 7 months ago
If you look at the antecedents on this thread, it appears our "needs" are dynamic and always changing
I remember when the general consensus here was that the addition of wingbacks was the immediate solution to Amorim's problems. How has that panned out? Was it not afterwards the talk changed to midfield?
Remember when Onana was pinpointed as the cause of the leaky defence. People swore that we would be keeping clean sheets once we sign a new goalkeeper. How are we travelling with that now?
Whoever it is that is in charge needs to assess the team holistically and properly before making decisions that should be devoid of sentimental opinions of fans.
Till then, the manager has to make the most out of the season - we can still have a decent finish I think we can even still manage Cunha, Mount or whoever on the wings. You see that midfield, it’s one of the most important departments in football. Yet we only have a couple of troublesome options there. Mainoo, Ugarte, and Casemiro. None of these guys should be a starter for Man United right now. Two of them were in the starting XI today and the third one came on to “rescue” the game with his weak legs. We are not ready at all. |

eph12: When I saw Fletcher talking about the club DNA and how they want to look inwards, I just knew we're not leaving the trenches soon. Even city spend good money on players every year We’ll sign new managers but the tears will not go away. I give Nitrogen and his coven 3 weeks before they turn on the interim. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 8:28pm On Jan 11 |
nitrogen: I guess we take one and discard the other. Arsenal is performing because they have above average players not because Arteta seems to know how to make the squad work. Zubimendi and Rice are now superstars? Will you take Zubimendi and Rice over Ugarte and Mainoo—yes or no? Are they superstars? What about Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali? Are they superstars? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 8:23pm On Jan 11 |
eph12: Any coach that wants to be successful in terms of trophy and league domination should avoid people like nitrogen. He will expect you to perform miracles with the likes of Dalot and Ugarte He’ll also tell him to “play the yoots.” As if other teams are relying heavily on their academy to win games. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 8:21pm On Jan 11 |
Jamiuokolaa: The imminent change in formation and tactics might also necessitate slight changes in focus during the next TW.
It appears the addition of a LWF is now a priority rather than a luxury.
Till then, we just have to make do with the resources on ground.
Amad on the LW might not be the best of tactical decisions. However, i feel it cant be worse than the dross we've seen from Cunha as a LWF and LAMF.
Dorgu also needs some time off. He might have more stamina and energy but I think Shaw's superior football brain as a LB would benefit us more at this point. We still need a midfielder pass all these ones wey you dey talk. Arsenal had Rice and bought Zubimendi the next TW. This is in addition to Merino and Odegaard. Chelsea bought Enzo and added Lavia and Caicedo the next year. Dem get 2 heads? I don’t want to mention City who bought 2 GKs in a window. If na Man Utd buy that Trafford and it doesn’t look like it will work out, instead of buying Donnarumma, they will demand Pep to make magic with Trafford. Fire and hire will only work when you back it up with a quality squad. |
