There were several moments Amad had him as the easiest passing option. All Ugarte needed to do was control, turn and find a free teammate. But Amad knows if he gave Ugarte that pass baba could crumble under small pressure. Instead he just passed to Yoro to recycle possession. Some players no suppose dey collect salary walahi.

I really think Amorim doesn’t read games. Too many changes affects coherence etc. we were not playing well before the subs, but we kind of okay, just needed to see the game out while hoping to get another goal. A major reason we conceded the second goal is because we were 1 man down through injury, with all 5 subs already gone in a flash.

The subs didn’t “go in a flash”.

The last sub came in the 80th minute, and it was a reaction to Dorgu’s card (which was another unnecessary yellow). If he didn’t make the sub and Dorgu gets a red, we’d still finish with 10 men— and you will still use that stick to beat him.

It’s easy to judge in retrospect.

how about just adding numbers to the midfield and a change of shape. His problem is we must stick to the formation regardless of our position in the game. Be flexible a little bit.

We had 4 guys playing in midfield when we conceded. But he obviously needs to do better.

Subs were not that bad (3 in 72 min). The quality was what was bad. Cunha was seriously begging to be taken off with the rubbish he was playing. Casemiro was also being beaten in midfield anyhow.

Maybe he should’ve staggered the 3 subs. Maybe. But giving each sub 18 mins isn’t that bad that it should be the reason we concede.

Amorim started Maguire over Yoro because of Spurs’ aerial prowess. I think half of their league goals this season have come from set pieces or so. Maguire is very good in the air compared to Yoro.

The problem is that Maguire is also slow as hell and is abysmal when setting offside traps.

Would’ve been great if Yoro is decent in the air and Maguire isn’t a fridge.

Yeah I am in complete agreement with you about the Forest game.

Looking back, you are right the Brighton subs were not too early but I think he felt the backlash from those subs in his own mind and swing to the other extreme in the next game.

I didn’t watch the 2nd half but I can’t comprehend a manager making only 2 subs in a game in which he is chasing points. The only explanation is fear and it sends a message to the players on the bench. How they respond will depend on each player.

It’s very clear that he is a rookie that is still learning on the job. Took him so long to acclimatize to the PL and he still hasn’t completed his orientation- after a whole year.

Zirkkzee especially deserves some minutes in that Forest game. He was decent last season and can do a job in that game.

The guy is erratic with his substitutions.

In one game he makes early substitutions en masse which has the potential to disrupt the rhythm of the team. In the next game he refused to make substitutions at all in a game we were chasing maximum points in.

From one extreme to the other. If we are being fair and honest there is a balanced line that could have been taken.

In my opinion, the Brighton subs were not too early and he shouldn’t take too much blame for the sluggish performances of the subs. Dorgu cracked under pressure with an unnecessary mistake which led to the first goal, and the other subs should have been able to hold down their own.

But that Nottingham Forest game, he was a coward. The attack needed fresh energy and he should’ve still brought on a few guys, even though their introduction unbalanced the ship in the last game.

It was reminiscent of Ole’s period. Where he wouldn’t make any sub even though the game was desperately calling for one.

Should’ve brought on Mount and Zirkzee for maybe Sesko and Cunha, or even Cunha and a defender.

He was probably afraid to introduce an attacker for a defender because he thought we’d suffer at the back and concede another goal.
