If you have never had a Dawa I definitely recommend it. Its a Konyagi or Vodka based drink. One of the best things to be sipping whilst you watch the sun set over the Zambezi river the fourth largest in Africa is the Dawa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEG-E5KjOLo |

The fastest way to get from Bodø to Svolvær is using the Ferry, if you don't want to fly. During my visit September 2020 I covered the experience going and coming back. On the way back I did and overnight this you will see in the second part. Anyone else been on the Hurtigruten? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5cwNhPg5cc |
I didn't live in Botswana but I visited. One thing you have to note is that they have a different climate than in Nigeria. It gets really cold in Botswana from June to august. The Pula is one of the strongest African currency. 100 naira is 2.76 Pula so you definitely going to need to come with a bit more money to maintain the same level of living you have had in Nigeria. Botswana does a lot in the tourism sector so that maybe the best industry to look for jobs but at the moment the sector is suffering because of Covid restrictions. |
Unfortunately some countries require a letter of invitation to process visas. This is the same with Malawi. I had this discussion with the embassy and then just came to the conclusion these are things someone implemented in the past that have become outdated and yet certain African governments don't see the need to update them. In my case what I did was to get in touch with my Airbnb Host and he provided me with a letter of invitation. I would suggest you write a letter to the ambassador explaining what happened and suggesting the review their visa application requirements. Do not know that they will do it but at least you would have logged a formal complaint |
I have never taken the train on that route but I would definitely recommend using the train. Its relaxing and you get to experience the landscape and if you are lucky it maybe peaceful and entertaining. this was my train ride in Tanzania https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hyLI3uSDOQ&t= |
All Nigerian passports are Ecowas passports - this simply means you can travel into the Ecowas countries visa free normally but some weird officials at the land borders may still try to extort money from you. For any where else outside the Ecowas region you must verify on their websites/embassies what the entry requirements are that always includes having a passport with not less than six months validity |
I would always choose the road if its feasble. Not only is it good for the environment but you get to experience more. Having said that I don't want to change vehicles 20 times before getting to where I am going. So road trip only if its a direct commute or not more than one change involved |
Interesting post I do both but most times I Solo travel and make lots of connections, I end up later visiting these people. For travelling is a personally hobby and commitment if there people available to come along at time I am on the road and we have similar interests then definitely yes lets do it but I am not about to be looking for someone to go with because I love my freedom and you can always meet people on the go |
