Good day guys

I started programming out of passion at first until when stuffs got really tough that I got really got concerned about the money. Currently I'm learning Javascript as i intend to be a web developer. I know the basics of html and css.

Most times I do see adverts from some developers about building a website for 20k some of them 15k and it's very discouraging to see such adverts. I'm asking senior and experienced web developers if this is how much they charge for so much work they put into building a website.

I know how much my parent sacrificed to get me a laptop and I would to repay them handsomely.
Please i'll be delighted if I can get a mentor here. Learning on your own can be confusing at times.

There is nothing top notch about nairaland,you’re over estimating nairaland. Nairaland has content is the reason it is thriving don’t confuse the two. A mid-level dev flopping in space of two month ain’t one to begin with.

I am talking about the engine = simple machines.

Just look at all the futures of NL engine, it also has an admin section take that into consederation.

Its not some thing for a mid devs in Naija.

And it will require lots of people to build not even 3 ppl.

Download the file and check.

Or better still try to build it from the scratch.

This is a big project form the scratch.

I was talking to a start up company. 250k is the price for a mid-level dev. Nairaland is not a high end site on the software angle. Many on the marketing aspect

The site looks ugly lame on the outside, but inside its top notch inside.

Even 3 devs cant build NL in 3 months.

Just check the size of the file.

The 250k per month mid-level devs cant handle a job like this effectively. It will flop.

I know how long it takes to code even the smallest of things effectively.

Devs build and test at the same time and it takes so much time.

Ok for a start you need
A frontend developer
A backend developer
A ui/ux expert.
Maybe a product manager

For a start one person could be the ui/ux and frontend developer
The other person a backend and product manger/team lead.

Let’s say frontend dev 150k - 250k/month
Backend developer/team lead 150k - 250k per month

If your developers are productive, in the first two month they should be able to match what Nairaland functionality offers especially if they use Agile methodology and if you don’t distract them.

Other roles are graphics designer, Agile master, social media expert and SEO expert, marketer etc

So on the software side you should be looking at 1.5M with a timeline of roughly 3 months to get started

There are also other cheaper strategies though.

Which dev will take 250 k a month to build a site like NL in 3 months. Sites like NL are high end sites, no be childs.

Only high end devs can do it well and they are not cheap.

1.5 MILL Naira Cant build a custom site like NL. Even 100k used cant.

I was so ashamed and felt embarrassed when I found out that my son who I thought was using his phone for something productive was actually using it to troll and be a nuisance on Nairaland. Though I have punished him by collecting his phone and grounding him while waiting for school to resume so he can go back to his boarding school where they are not allowed to use phone.

Hello guys! So in a 24hrs period, I spend close to 14hrs attached to either my system or phone. Got really busy from sept last year when I got my system. Elite book G3. The problem now is, my right eye is cloudy, and sometimes gets red.

I love tech and research, and that's what I can do in a room for 1 week straight without getting bored. I'm not fully a nerd, but probably my introverted nature contributed to it.

I got anti blue ray glasses around dec, but no much difference. Please for those with similar predicament before, what's the remedy.

I'll appreciate if modes push this to front page. Not ready to lose my sight.

Between 2010 - 2012 I was deeply into crude oil business that yielded no positive returns at the end of the day except the wealth of experience.

Last year a nairaland redpiller and misogynist named OYINBOGOJU was arrested for rape and other crimes and he came here to tell us stupid sob stories.

This year I see more redpillers getting arrested. If you don't see a redpiller online for more than 3 months just conclude that he has been arrested. Some of them will be ashamed to post it here but some won't.

NL Programming section is anything but coding related, I have seen so many trash filled in this section and I think we can do better, However I would like to also appreciate alot of members who contributed but we also have some elements among us who spam this thread with trash contents and I think we can do better. Reddit is a more better haven for programming because we have allowed low quality contents here and it saddens me to see this, because this is my fav section on NL.

The oil in the ND started off in the Middle Belt and flowed down to the delta, but Nigerians are not ready for this conversation, so I'll stop here.

Please be thoughtful in your words when speaking on the North, the North is the only reason this nation is still standing.
