Sipping her drink slowly, Sophie looked at the time on her phone. It was 11 minutes past 5. She hated being delayed. All things being equal she would have packed up her bag to leave but she needed to let it out. She needed to let Segun know she was carrying his child. She was scared of how he'll take it because he always told her he was not ready to settle down just yet. She had no objections as she felt she wasn't either but the pregnancy had come unexpected. Segun was everything she dreamt of. He was tall dark and handsome, just her speck. He was caring and also very rich. He knew about her past and yet he accepted her with all her flaws and taints. She looked at her watch again, 15 minutes gone.
Segun looked around and spotted the beautiful lady sitting alone and walked towards her. 'my angel' he said with a broad grin as he took his seat opposite her.
'you know I hate it when you keep me waiting' she retorted
'I had to go get something urgently before meeting you here' he replied 'let's place an order then you'll tell me why you look jittered'
They placed their orders and started eating. After a while, Sophie paused and said ' Segun, I really need to let you know, I'm pregnant'
Segun paused and then smiled broadly. He then carefully dropped his fork and dipped his hand into his pocket, bringing out a ring case. He opened it to reveal a magnificent diamond ring. 'I don't really know how to put it but you mean the world to me. Ever since I met you, my life has never remained the same. Will you marry me?'
Sophie was shocked. She never saw this coming. ' yes of course I will.' she replied. Segun put the ring on her finger with a broad smile on his face
' but how..... I don't believe it's just a coincidence. Of all days, why did you ask me today?'
' well ', Segun answered, ' your best friend Chioma called me and told me you were pregnant for me and scared so I decided to allay your fears. I love you, you're perfect for me. So it's all very appropriate. '
Sophie smiled, Chioma could be overly protective at times. She looked at her boyfriend, now fiancé and was filled with joy
'I love you too sugar'

Sophie pecked Segun as she came down from the car. She looked at the ring on her finger and smiled again. She walked towards her house which she shared with two of her friends and knocked on the door. After a single knock the door flew open.
'how did he take it?' Chioma asked.
Rita tossed her book aside and quickly rose up ' hope he didn't dare deny it'
' babes calm down.... Tara!' Sophie said as she flashed her ring finger in front of her friends. They could not contain their excitement as they all began screaming.
'wait, I don't understand, I thought you said he was not ready to settle down? How come?' Chioma asked
' Omo na ashebi things ooooo!' Rita screamed ' babe tell us everything that went down'
Sophie excitedly recounted everything that happened ad quickly as she could
'anyways, girls go get dressed. We're all going for the celebration!'
Yay! '
They all scuffled to get dressed and then they went to celebrate.

Prologue..
Anita peered once more into the book. She tried to concentrate but the screeching voice never seized to disturb her. "mum can't you make it stop?" she said looking towards her mum but her mum didn't even look up. She was soo absorbed in the tiny creature in her arm. The creature that never seemed to stop tormenting her with loud cries. She had always wanted a sister, she had even offered her pocket money to God for one because she was tired of being alone. She needed someone to play dress_up with and someone to show off. Finally, the baby had come, a girl who was like nothing she ever imagined. First of, she was too small,a hat couldn't even even sit on her head. Her fingers were too tiny and worse of all she never ever stopped crying! She looked at her mum once more and saw the stress on her mother's face. 'can I hold her a bit?' she asked. 'stretch out your hands' her mum replied and when Anita did she carefully placed the crying infant into her hands. 'hold her carefully'. Anita held her sister and the baby stopped crying. She looked into her eyes and the world stood still. Even their mum noticed the connection. 'mum she's so pretty'.
'Yes, she is.. Just like you'
She smiled, determined to always protect her baby sister in every way she could.

For me not to say anything would be a very grave sin on my part. I followed this story right from the very beginning and I must say it has been an interesting ride. You've been consistent with updates and I really enjoyed the twists and turns and all that. Totally unpredictable. At a point I was so sure you'd end up with Frances. You did her wrong though and I sincerely hope she has moved on..... need I say she was my favorite character here as she reminds me a bit of myself. All in all, it was worth my while. Thanks a lot

I think guys have it worse
based on personal experience I dont think so. Most guys believe sex is an expression of love and if you refuse them, they'll see it as though you don't see them worthy enough to be your first. It's really tiring I tell you

EducationUsing What I Have To Get What I Want by lilien001(op): 7:50pm On Jan 04, 2017
I want to use what I have to get what I want. I know this is a highly stereotyped sentence as it is grossly interpreted especially when said by a girl to mean using one's body. That's beside the point. I'm a final year student in one of the federal universities of Nigeria and it has been my desire to further my studies abroad. I know I do not have the financial wherewithal as a result I put in my efforts to make good grades. I have decided to use all I have at my disposal to make my dream a reality. Nairaland has really been a very helpful platform to me especially in getting information. I have also heard of several testimonies of people getting their dream jobs and scholarships through nairaland. I wish to appeal to all especially those who have enjoyed or are currently enjoying scholarships overseas to aid me on how to go about this.
I'll appreciate if this gets to front page
EventsRe: Is This The Difference Between An Igbo Party And A Yoruba Party? by lilien001(f): 12:34pm On Jul 02, 2016
KnightRod:
Lol.. I'm Igbo, but I don't attend Igbo parties/functions anymore.. It ain't fun.. They do too much talking, the food is scarce, the meat is petty, and don't even let me talk about the drinks..

Igbo men have this hungry ego.. They always want to feel above their peers. My dad once changed 100k to dollars, just to spray his friend's daughter at her wedding.. Why?? Just because Others were spraying naira and he wanted to show them they don't call him 'Chief' for nothinghuh

But some folks have not even taken as little as a bottle of coke at the wedding, and they were watching people spray dollars and naira on their empty stomachs.

But a yoruba party is always dah bomb!! You must eat to your satisfaction! Assorted food.. Assorted drinks.. Even ordinary naming ceremony.. They don't joke with the food.. They make sure it's available for everyone!!

Then the colourful attires.. Lol.. Really nice.
wow! Spraying 100k in a wedding? I'm booking your dad for my future wedding

Focus on building your current and final CGPA to be a minimum of 4.5 or 4.0. By then, come back and research that when you done. Canada may be different story when you done but with that kind of CGPA, you can go anywhere God wants you to go.
thanks for the tip, but the thing is I wish to research now and be fully equipped so by the time I'm done, it would be a lot easier and faster walking towards it
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by lilien001(f): 5:25am On Apr 13, 2016
Jengbetiele:
Lol to be honest with you an A grade here no be beans o. Because the grade get splited between so many assignments, midterms, class participation and then final exams. As a matter of fact depending on the professor, final exam may be weigh just 15 out of 100 percent. The implication is you have to be on your toes all through the semester. A grade isnt impossible though. A starts from 80-100, B starts from 65-75. For graduate programs the least you can have is a 65 percent fall below that and you are kicked out. It is not really easy but with hardwork and perseverance anything is possible. If you are comming for anything computer science related, that is another story entirely grin grin
hi, I'm kinda new here but I'm interested in the issues being discussed. Pls I have a few questions. Is your study in Canada based on scholarship? If so, is it a full scholarship? How did you go about it?
P. S, I'm in my penultimate year in a Nigeria University

My dear I understand how you feel. If you ask me, i think he sees the relationship as just a fling while you are seeing it as the main deal. To think that this is your first love makes it worse but not to worry, It doesn't always work out the first time. I think you should stop reaching out to him and if he doesn't reach out, you just allow the relationship to die a natural death. Don't keep holding on to him and deny yourself the chance of meeting someone else
