PoliticsCourt Of Appeal Reserves Judgment In Ondo PDP Disputes by Limitednow(op): 5:55am On Nov 17, 2016
THE Court of Appeal, Abuja on Wednesday reserved judgment “till when it is ready” in an appeal filed by Eyitayo Jegede seeking to be re-listed as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.

Justice Ibrahim Salauwa led two other Justices of the panel to reserve the judgment after arguments were adopted by counsel to parties.

Salauwa said: “Now that counsel to parties has concluded arguments on this appeal, the judgment is reserved.

“Parties would be informed when we are ready.”

Jegede had challenged the ruling by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP candidate for the election.

The appellate court on November 10 granted Jegede leave to appeal the decision of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Earlier, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), counsel to Jegede, prayed the court to set aside the ruling of the lower court, adding that it was given in bad light.

Olanipekun also said the court should order the reinstatement of his client as the authentic candidate of the party to contest the election.

According to him, Jegede is the candidate that emerged from the party’s primary conducted in Akure.

He argued further that Ibrahim’s name was submitted and immediately recognised by INEC following the ruling of the lower court.

However, Beloulisa Nwafor (SAN), counsel to Biyi Poroye, the Chairman of the Ondo State Chapter of the PDP and eight others, told the court that it lacked jurisdiction to hear the appeal.

Nwafor had announced to the court that the November 10 ruling that gave leave of the court to Jegede to appeal the nomination of Ibrahim was appealed against at the Supreme Court.

Nwafor said: “Your Lordship, with profound respect, I am here to inform the panel that we had challenged the ruling of this court that granted leave to the applicant to leave the decision of the lower court.

“The Supreme Court has acknowledged the pendency of the appeal and stay application.

“The Supreme Court being a superior court has from this moment usurped the jurisdiction of this court.”

Nwafor further argued that the panel ought to hands-off all the proceedings pending the determination of the appeal.

He submitted that the panel should refrain from further action on the matter, adding that doing the contrary would amount to the violation of the constitution, the rules of the court as well as the oath of judicial office.

He said the court had earlier demonstrated courage to hands-off on two sister appeals upon notification of pending appeals at the apex court.

Nwafor also said the appeal was not ripe for hearing, adding that time allowed for filing of respondent’s brief would expire on Wednesday at 12 midnight.

He argued that the limitation to file processes excluded Saturday and Sunday as enshrined in Section 15 of the Interpretation Act, 2004.

Godswill Mrakpo, counsel to a factional National Chairman of the PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, said the appeal was ripe for hearing, adding that his team was not served notice of hearing.

Mrakpo said: “I had come to the court for another business only to be told that the matter was listed for hearing today.

“This is totally against the right of clients and counsel who are supposed to be notified two days ahead of a matter.

“It is also important to state that some of the processes relating to this matter were served me in court this morning.”

According to him, an adjournment remains the best option to allow for the filing of responses to the appellant’s reply.

The presiding judge, however, insisted that the extant appeal earlier argued by counsel to the appellant sufficed.

Sheriff, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Senator Ben Obi are all parties in the matter.

The Executive of the PDP in the South West Zone and the Ondo State Executive members of the party were also listed as parties.

The court is also mandated to decide the authentic leadership of the party.

The Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee had also filed an appeal challenging the decision of the lower court that recognised the party’s primary conducted by the Sheriff faction.

PoliticsWhy I Decamped To APC - Kalu by Limitednow(op): 7:27pm On Nov 16, 2016
ORJI Kalu, former governor of Abia State on Wednesday stated why he decamped from Progressive Peoples Alliance - a party he formed in 2006 - to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.

Kalu who addressed a press conference said his decision to join the ruling party was to de-bunk speculation that the APC is an  ethnic or religious contraption.

“If they see us in this place, they will know that that APC is not an ethnic or religious party,” Mr. Kalu said.

The former governor admitted that the APC will be a tough sell in the South East, but expressed optimism that it will eventually be accepted after intense lobbying of those that matter in the region.

“It is something that we need to be explaining to the Catholic bishops, Anglican bishops, the Pentecostal churches and the rest of them,” Mr. Kalu explained.

Mr. Kalu also said he registered as a member of the APC on Sunday, while also disclosing that two (2) House of Representative members from the state are joining him to his new party.

“Between Sunday when I registered at Igbere and now, there are 4,000 new members already registered with the APC in Abia without making it open,” Mr. Kalu said adding that “there are two members of the House of Representatives who are there right now that are joining the APC.”

Mr. Kalu was received by the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, in the presence of other members of the National Working Committee at its Wuse 2, Abuja headquarters.

Mr. Kalu’s move to the APC came two weeks after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission re-arraigned him for corruption he allegedly perpetrated while he was governor of Abia between 1999-2003 on 34 counts of money laundering to the tune of N3.2 billion on October 31.

Recall Orji's corruption trial was shifted from Lagos to Abuja and barely a month to that effect he decamp.

After decamping, APC-led govt won't probe him, just watch and see!‎

Someone should better advise, Fani-Kayode, Usman Nnandi, Metuh, Dasuki etc to decamp to APC and watch their trial die a natural death.

In 2015, Fani-kayode decamped to APC, PDP brought back opened his trial and as soon as he went back to PDP, the party ‎did not only withdraw his case, they also compensated him with the spokesman of Jonathan's campaign,

PoliticsSenate Passes Maritime University bill by Limitednow(op): 2:30pm On Nov 16, 2016
THE bill for establishment of Nigerian Maritime University at Okerenkoko in Delta State, on Wednesday scaled second reading at the Senate, months after Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, announced scrapping of the project.

The bill sponsored by James Manager (PDP-Delta) was unanimously supported by the senators after the mover’s lead debate, making case for the establishment of the university.

The groundbreaking of the proposed school at Okerenkoko in Warri south-West local government area was done by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 and, according to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, physical asset were on site.

However, there has been no law backing the establishment of the university.

Addressing the senate committee on maritime on January 19, Mr. Amaechi had announced the scrapping of the project, which was to be financed by the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Administration Agency, a parastatal under his ministry.

Mr. Amaechi then cited insecurity in the area, and said the project was a “misplacement of priority” because there are transport institutes in Zaria (Kaduna), and Oron (Akwa Ibom), already.

Later on June 14 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the Minister said the Federal Government lacked the funds to continue with school; and that unless the N13 billion spent on the procurement of the land for the project was retrieved, the project stood scrapped.

“Okerenkoko (Maritime University), I am not against,” he said. “My argument about Okerenkoko is that land alone is 13 billion(naira). If you give me 13 billion, I will buy the half of Lagos. That 13 billion has built the university already.”

“What to do: let EFCC retrieve the money and release the money and we build the university. If they bring the N13 billion, I will build the university for them. That’s for land alone. I believe the Federal Government does not have money. When we have money, we can continue. The minister of petroleum has said he would look for the money. Minister, give me the money and we continue,” Mr. Amaechi said in Uyo.

But the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu disagreed with Mr. Amaechi, saying he was in support of the project, drawing a loud applause from the audience.

“First, let me say on Okerenkoko University, I disagree with the Minister of Transport,” he said.

“Any facility that is located in the South-South we should work close to developing it. I don’t care the circumstances under which you are placed.”

On Wednesday, the Senate shunned the transport minister, ensuring the bill for the establishment of the Maritime University scaled second reading.

Mr. Manager, the sponsor, argued that maritime sector had huge potentials and that Nigeria should have a university for the purpose of producing capable manpower for the sector which, as he said, is currently dominated by foreign interests.

On suitability of Okerenkoko for the project, he said the area was close to the sea and surrounded by oil wells.

The move that the bill be read for the second time was seconded by Fauster Ogola (PDP-Bayelsa) who said the giving legal backing to the school would make Nigeria become a “hub of manpower development in the Maritime sector.”

He said Nigeria would be the first to have maritime university in West Africa once the bill received approval of the National Assembly ultimately.

Gbenga Ashafa (APC-Lagos) and Jibrin Barau (APC-Kano) also supported the bill.
After the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, called the voice vote and the Senators unanimously responded ‘ayes’, Mr. Saraki ruled the bill be referred to the committee on tertiary education and Tetfund.

The committee was asked to report back in four weeks.

Also, the Senate made progress on the bill to make the Maritime Academy in Oron, Akwa Ibom State a degree awarding institution. The bill, proposed by Effiong Nelson (PDP-Akwa Ibom) was read for the second time.

PoliticsWhy APC Would Soon Disintegrate - Fayose by Limitednow(op): 11:04am On Nov 13, 2016
AYODELE Fayose, Ekiti State Governor has said President Muhammadu Buhari is bereft of ideas to revive the country’s economy

Fayose also said the All Progressives Congress would soon disintegrate because it was founded on deceit.

So also did he say he begrudges no one despite his many travails in life, adding that total reliance on God was the secret of his political victory.

Fayose added that total reliance on God was his power and nothing else.

He cited a Biblical injunction to buttress his claims: “Phillipians Chapter 4 verse 13, says I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me. Jesus Christ is my strength. If I am talking, If I am heard, if I could not be cowed or suppressed, If I am providing good governance to Ekiti people who elected me as their governor, If I am providing good leadership to people, it is because I have Christ as my strength and truly in him, I can do all things.”

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the Governor, who reflected on the rough journey of his life while addressing members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly during a closed door meeting at the Government House in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, said though his road had been bumpy but because he was a man of destiny he had never lost any battle.

He said: “Let this be known, I wasn’t born with sliver spoon but with wood spoon in mouth.

“My struggle in the journey of life, founded on truth, hard work and ‎firm believe in God, landed me where I am today.

“I remember God telling me never to avenge, but do good to all manners of men.

“In doing so, lies my victory and progress.”

Fayose said his return to power was beyond human comprehension, saying the stone which was rejected by the builder became strong pillar of the house.

Governor Fayose, who went down memory lane about the conspiracy of 2006 against him by the then members of the state House of Assembly, which saw to his sudden, un-celebrated but undeserved exit from the seat of power by an impeachment, later dismissed as illegitimate by the Supreme Court, told the current lawmakers: “The traitors of yesterday, where are they now.?

“God said in Psalm 68 verse 6, …but the rebellious dwell in dry land.

“God also said those who pay evil with evil, evil will never depart from their house.

“These messages are warnings to traitors.”

Speaking about his performance in two years in office, Fayose said he had a pact with Ekiti people to transform the state, adding that he had ideas up his sleeve but has been hampered by time and finance.

However, the Governor said: “I will complete the flyover, King’s Market, Judiciary building, new governor’s office, Ikere-Ado Road dualised and other projects going on at the local governments.”

He urged Ekiti people to continue to support him and ignore the lies of APC about him.

Hitting hard at the ruling APC at the centre, Fayose said: “Very soon, APC will explode and disintegrate because it was founded on deceit.

“If you are in PDP, you are a pen robber, but if you gate-crashed into APC, you become a saint automatically.

“Within one and half year, the APC government grounded the economy.

“Unfortunately, Muhammadu Buhari cannot find solution to hunger, unemployment, depressed economy and insecurity in the country because he is bereft of the ideas.

“Nigerians should brace up to change the change because the right leader, the right president is yet to come.

“What we have now is aberration.”

PoliticsNo Ransom Paid To Free 21 Chibok Girls – DHQ by Limitednow(op): 7:45pm On Nov 12, 2016
THE Nigerian military said on Saturday that no ransom was paid for the release of the 21 Chibok girls freed by the Boko Haram.

The girls were among the over 200 female students kidnapped from their government owned school in Chibok, Borno State, in April 2014. Scores of the remaining g girls are still with the insurgents.

The federal government had in October denied swapping Boko Haram members in detention for the freed girls, saying the release was “the product of painstaking negotiations and trust on both sides.”

On Saturday, the military spokesperson, Rabe Abubakar, said reports of payment of ransom were not true.

Read the full statement by Mr. Abubakar below.

“The attention of Defence Headquarters (DHQ), has been drawn to a news story by the Punch newspapers alleging that ransom was paid by the government in exchange for the recently released of 21 of the abducted Chibok girls. This unsubstantiated story, to say the least, is quite unfortunate. It is important to recall here that several statements have been issued by the military high command to clarify the issue surrounding the release of the girls, which the whole world applauded. It is therefore worrisome that some sections of the media continue to undermine this modest effort of the government, security agencies and other stakeholders. It is imperative to state categorically that the sponsors of this media campaign have a hidden agenda which is best known to them.

“The military and other security agencies will not be distracted and would remain focussed in achieving its objectives in the North East. The important thing is that the release have been made and circumstances surrounding this effort should not be a matter of controversy so as not to overheat the polity and jeopardising the ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining girls and other innocent citizens still in captivity of the terrorists.

“The insinuations that ransom was paid to the terrorists which the terrorists used to escalate the recent attacks in the North East is completely false and imagination of the author. The general public should therefore discountenance it in its entirety.

“The DHQ wishes to once more remind the media to be cautious of such reports which has serious implication on national and to further add that, as partners in progress, the media also has a stake in the ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace in the North East and the country in general.”

PoliticsNew Edo Governor, Obaseki, Takes Oath Of office by Limitednow(op): 12:32pm On Nov 12, 2016
THERE was tight security within and around the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, where the new Governor of Edo, Godwin Obaseki, will take his oath of office.

The security personnel which were drawn from the Police, Army, State Security Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, were positioned inside and around the venue.

The News agency of Nigeria reports that stadium road and adjoining streets within the precinct of the stadium were also heavily guarded by security personnel.

Apart from ensuring free-flow of traffic to and from the stadium by the police and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, security personnel were also on hand to control movement of people into the stadium.

It would be recalled that former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole, whose government was inaugurated on November 12, 2008, handed over to Mr. Obaseki last night in a brief ceremony in government house.

The former labour leader, after his first inauguration in 2008, won a re-election as the governor for his second term in July 2012.

The new governor, Mr. Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress, had on September 28 won the governorship race by defeating the People Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

THE story of the sex video involving former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, broke a few weeks ago, several groups and individuals have come forward with different versions of what transpired between the embattled 20-year-old beauty queen and the organisers of the pageant.

The former beauty queen was seen in a shocking x-rated video with a lesbian partner. Surprisingly, the video was released on October 11, 2016, a few days before the expiration of her tenure originally billed for October 28, 2016.

Every day across the state since the video hit the streets, different versions of what led to the scandal are churned out by the actors, leaving the people confused and unsure of what to believe.

Since the scandal broke, Miss Chidinma Okeke, who won the Miss Anambra beauty pageant, organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), has remained incommunicado, choosing to go into hiding over alleged threats to her life. She has also remained silent, leaving her lawyer to do most of the talking.

While the father, Sir Jeremiah Okeke, had claimed in recent reports that his daughter had been handed over to a relation for safety, some others claimed that the ex-beauty queen had relocated abroad.

But after weeks of keeping quiet, Miss Okeke has finally broken her silence, she debunked claims that she threatened to commit suicide, adding that there was never a time such thought came to her mind.

She also said her life might no longer be in danger, adding that her traducers were no longer threatening her life, and maintaining that those who were after her life had stopped contacting her.

She also said the faces behind her agonizing period in Anambra would be revealed soon, adding that with God, all things are possible.

Narrating her own side of the story, she said: “Early last year, the ABS advertised for the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. I heard of it and went to make enquiry.

“My roommate was also interested, but one of the organisers told me to apply. I told them I was not interested but the man insisted that I might win the competition. He also promised to give me the form for free if I indicated interest, and he did when I agreed to contest.

“But one Jane told me that before a winner would be declared, there were certain things to be done, including the (sex) video. I consented after some persuasion from the organisers. I later went for the contest at the Marble Arch Hotels in Awka, and I was declared winner with a Kia Rio vehicle as star prize.

“When I went for my car after the contest, the organisers brought out a contract form for me to sign, but I told them I wanted to contact my lawyer to see it. I was not given the opportunity to do so.

“What they kept telling me was that if I insisted on not signing the contract or wanted to contact my lawyer, they would release the video.

“At that point, I became uncomfortable and signed the contract to avoid such embarrassment, and the car was released to me from where it was packed within the premises of ABS.

“From that moment, I became a slave to them. On October 11, 2016, they called me to come and make presentations inside the office of one the organisers. After that, the man excused some people in that room and showed me the video again.

“They told me to drop my car and removed my crown from me. I told them I would take the car as stipulated in the contract. They insisted I should pack it in the premises of (ABS).

“I told my uncle in Abuja about the situation. My uncle called them and asked them to release my car to me. Instead, they forwarded the video to him as part of the blackmail. That was what happened,” Chidinma said, crying.

She also said the scandal had weighed her down. Amidst sobs, she denied being a lesbian, saying she had never been involved in the act.

PoliticsDetails Of Money Released For 2016 Budget By FG by Limitednow(op): 7:09am On Nov 12, 2016
THE Federal Government has released the sectoral performance details of capital allocations in the 2016 Appropriation Act for the different ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) as at the end of October.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udoma, said on Friday last week that government had spent about N3.577 trillion, or 58.7 per cent of the N6.06 trillion 2016 budget.

The amount included a total of N2.44 trillion for capital, non-debt recurrent and service-wide vote expenditures, in addition to about N1.14 trillion, or 46.7 per cent paid out to service domestic and foreign debts.

The total expenditure also included about N44billion transferred to the Sinking Fund to retire maturing obligations on bonds issued to contractors handling various projects across the country.

He said all the releases had been cash-backed. In terms of performance, the minister said this translated to 79 per cent, in terms of the pro-rated budget allocation for the three quarters up to September 30, 2016.

Mr. Udoma described a total of N753.6 billion already released for capital expenditure in 2016 out of a total allocation of N1.8 trillion allocation approved for capital expenditure as the highest in the nation’s recent history, even in the era of low oil prices.

Details of the capital releases from the Federal Ministry of Finance headquarters showed the Ministry of Power with the highest allocation of N209.25 billion, followed by defence (N69.5 billion), and transport (N30.54 billion).

The Ministry of Agriculture has so far received N29.58 billion; water resources (N25.2 billion); interior (N21.2 billion); health (N18.47 billion); education (N16.74 billion) and Niger Delta (N8.16 billion).

The other ministries included science and technology (N6.68 billion), mines and steel development (N3.36 billion), petroleum resources (N2.414 billion) and other agencies (N312.5 billion).

Angered by the alleged call by the president of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Igwe Achese asking the Federal Government to engage the service of a security outfit managed by some ex-militants to guard oil facilities in region, the Adaka Boro Avengers yesterday issued a seven-day ultimatum to all multinationals to evacuate the area.

They threatened that "there will be total War across all states in the Niger Delta region" thereafter. The group said the call by NUPENG was meant to cause crisis in the region.

A statement by its spokesman, Gen. Edmos Ayayeib, read: "Avengers to go on rampage, giving Federal Government and NUPENG to immediately ask all multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region to evacuate our territory within seven days. Failure will lead us to go on rampage with all NUPENG workers and oil installations.

This time around, we shall leave no stone unturned. We want all Nigerians to know how we will surprise Igwe Achese on how he wants to cause crisis in the Niger Delta region. His words are a slap to the region's agitators."

CelebritiesLinda Ikeji Goes Social, Hits 50,000 Sign-ups, Dominates Google trend by Limitednow(op): 2:53pm On Nov 10, 2016
THE launch of a social network by top Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji, was top on Google search this week, an official of Google in Lagos said on Thursday.

Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, made the disclosure in a statement in Lagos, saying that the search was between November 2 and 9.

Google Trends, launched in May 2006, allows one to see how popular search terms and demography had been over time on Google.

Kola-Ogunlade said: “Google search trend this week moved between the tension-filled U.S. elections to Linda Ikeji social, the newly launched social networking site of famous gossip blogger.

“The awoof buying spree on Jumia online store along with some other exciting news also got people’s attention online.”

“Ikeji goes Social” this week witnessed the announcement of the latest competition to Facebook in Nigeria, the Google manager said.

He added: “Top Nigerian blogger, Ikeji launched her new social network and hit 50,000 sign-ups on the first day.

“Linda, who runs a blog that is widely known as a top gossip site, says she plans to pay users to gain more followers on the site.”

According to Kola-Ogunlade, with a few hours remaining to the November 8 US elections, search for updates shot up on Google.

He said: “Internet users wanted to know things like the latest forecasts, what time winners would be announced, and even the newest gaffes from either of the two contestants, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

“Up until the day of elections, citizens wanted to know who was likely to become the US President.”

The Google manager said that folks went into frenzy search on Google when the ‘Awoof’ buying on Jumia Black Friday sales dates was announced by the online retail giant, Jumia Nigeria.

He said that they offered buyers amazing discounts on the website for quality products ranging from electronics to beauty products and more.

“Jumia announced that this year’s Black Friday will start on November 14 and end on the 25th and customers who spend 10,000 and above will win mouth-watering prizes,” he said.

Kola-Ogunlade said other sites visited included those that had the story: “Stop the rumour: Kogi’s helmsman is alive.”

He said that to calm the rumour, which went around over the weekend on the demise of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, the state government sent out a statement refuting the death.

He said that the Director General, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed that the governor was on a two-week break outside the country approved by the state House of Assembly.

He said that in some other reports, the governor was said to be in Germany for an eye surgery.

“Several people went scampering for news on Kwara Poly all over the internet to know if indeed the polytechnic had increased its school fees,” Kola-Ogunlade said.

He said that the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic rebutted the rumour, adding that people should stop listening to rumours that started on the social media.

THE crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party appears not to be abating as the faction under the leadership of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has accused the Senator Ahmed Makarfi group of wooing aggrieved stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress to form a new political party.

It said the plan of the Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee was to dump the PDP after ensuring that it had gained sufficient confidence of those who appeared to have lost out in the APC.

This is coming few days after Thisday Newspaper reported that the Makarfi-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have decided to chart a new course by setting in motion a process that would eventually lead to the formation of a new political alliance ahead of the 2019 general election.

A member of the National Working Committee of the party under Sheriff, who spoke on condition of anonymity to Punch Newspaper wondered why the Makarfi camp would set up what he described as “inter-party committee” instead of “intra-party” committee to reposition the former ruling party ahead of 2019.

The source added, “They (members of the Makarfi group) have been meeting clandestinely with some disgruntled members of the APC with a view to forming a new party ahead of 2019.

“They are also talking with those who have corruption cases against them by either the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, the Police or the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

He said, “They are looking for people of questionable character and all those who are not happy with President Muhammadu Buhari in the APC are their target.

“How do you set up an inter-party committee when the problem is with us, the PDP alone?

“Why would they be scouting for people who have corruption cases against them, and those who are being tried for one criminal case or the other?

“For us, we will take the party to the people who own it and we won’t allow just one governor to lord it over the people of his state at all times.”

It was also learnt that the Sheriff faction had concluded plan to set up a rival committee on how to rejuvenate the troubled party.

Membership of the proposed committee, which will be named before Monday, was debated by the faction at its meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Events5 Enjoyable Weekend Habits That Prep Party Freaks For A New Week by Limitednow(op): 11:21am On Nov 10, 2016
Party freaks can’t wait for the weekend as it is a time for them to indulge with friends. They glide from one nightclub to another as they dance to loud music and down their favourite beverages. You can relate to this if you are in Lagos because the city offers the best of nightlife. They are addicted night crawlers and they forget everything about work. This is why many of them dread Mondays as they are always smug and appear unprepared for the demands of a new week. Nevertheless, you can still party as much as you want and still get the best out of the week. Want to know how to ace this? Jumia Travel reveals the secrets!

Choose a weekend day to party

You are wasting your time if you tell a party freak not to party. This may be impossible. But what is possible is that you should choose a day for you to party throughout. Afterward, all partying should be suspended till the next weekend. It is a nice way to curtail excessive partying.

Try to sleep

After your partying, it is important for you to find time to sleep. Often times, you think you have enough time, but at the tap of your fingers, your weekend is over! For example, if the nightclub is in Lekki, you can book hotels around Lekki.  This will ensure that you get a proper sleep and recover from the party hangover.

Avoid drinking yourself to stupor

You cannot be a serious party freak without drinking especially alcoholic beverages. Hence, the tendency for you to drink yourself to stupor is high. Try as much as possible not to fall for the temptation of drinking competitions with your friends. Apart from being embarrassed, it may suffer an alcoholic hangover which may probably take time to wear off.

Plan the week on Sunday night

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If you don’t want to fail, plan your week on Sunday night. This will no doubt take the pressure off the new week.

Party with friends who can caution you

There is always that person among your circle of friends who can caution you whenever you party. He is the one who prevents you from getting drunk and drives you home when you are tipsy. Without them, you may never be able to recover from your partying escapades.

RENO Omokri, a former aide to the former President, Goodluck Jonathan has advised Nigerian Nobel Prize winner, Prof. Wole Soyinka to think twice before tearing his United State green card.

The statement is in response to a comment credited to Soyinka while addressing some students in the United State.

Soyinka had boasted that he would tear his green card if the Republic Candidate, Donald Trump emerged the winner of the Presidential election.

Mr Soyinka said he feared the Republic candidate would ask all green-card holders to reapply to come back into the US.

“Well, I’m not waiting for that,” the Nigerian author told his student audience.

“The moment they announce his [Trump’s] victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up,” he added.

Responding to the comment, Omokri said “Dear Professor Wole Soyinka, please think twice before you tear your Green Card. You may find the recession back home hard to deal with!”

The former aide also pointed to a self-acclaimed man of God, Prophet of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) T.B Joshua who predicted that Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton will win the election in a narrow victory against her Republican rival.

Prophet Joshua had said “Ten days ago, I saw the new President of America with a narrow win,”

“By the way, in order not to keep you in suspense, what I frankly saw is a woman.”

Omokri who didn’t hide his position on the failed prediction said “Dear TB Joshua. Who gave you your prophecy? My God is not a man that He would lie neither is He the son of man that He would repent!”

Foreign AffairsLike Jonathan, Clinton Calls Trump, Congratulates Him by Limitednow(op):
REPUBLICAN Donald Trump stunned the world on Tuesday by defeating heavily favored Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House, ending eight years of Democratic rule and sending the United States on a new, uncertain path.

A wealthy real-estate developer and former reality TV host, Trump rode a wave of anger toward Washington insiders to defeat Clinton, whose gold-plated establishment resume includes stints as a first lady, U.S. senator and secretary of state.

Worried a Trump victory could cause economic and global uncertainty, investors were in full flight from risky assets such as stocks.

In overnight trading, S&P 500 index futures fell 5 percent to hit their so-called limit down levels, indicating they would not be permitted to trade any lower until regular U.S. stock market hours on Wednesday.

The Associated Press and Fox News projected that Trump had collected just enough of the 270 state-by-state electoral votes needed to win a four-year term that starts on Jan. 20, taking battleground states where presidential elections are traditionally decided.

Democratic Party’s Hillary Clinton has telephoned her Republican Party rival, Donald Trump, conceding defeat and congratulating him for winning the election, the CNN is reporting.

“She has called him to say she believed he (Trump) will emerge president,” a CNN anchor said a while ago.
