Culture / Inside Indonesia's Tree-dwelling Cannibal Tribe (PHOTOS) by limpopo: 3:42pm On Aug 20, 2017 |
These incredible images reveal Indonesia’s tree- dwelling cannibal tribe who had no idea other people existed until the 1970s. The pictures show the Korowai people of West Papua in Indonesia building their treehouses, marching off to hunt and carrying their children in huge nets over their shoulders. The Korowai, also called the Kolufo, are the people who live in south-eastern West Papua in the indonesian Province of Papua, close to the border with Papua New Guinea. They number about 3,000. It is possible that the Korowai were unaware of the existence of any people besides themselves, before outsiders made contact with them in 1970. Source: tori.ng

So sisters... What exactly are you bringing to the table? A big booty? Perfectly sculpted brows? A shape to die for? A full head of Brazilian hair? A penchant for the latest songs and dance steps? A group of empty and vacuous brained friends? What exactly is he going to find when he knocks on your head? All the episodes of Zee World, Telemundo, Jennifa's diary, Tinsel and Africa Magic all recorded in perfect sequence? Empire nko? Every soundtrack, every character dissected to a tee? Do you know anything about the New World Order? Neo-colonialism? Your own home politics? What's happening in Ghana, The Gambia, Gabon? Do you even know something about anything remotely connected to intelligent discourse? When last did you read a book? No not Hints. Not Genevieve. Not Arise. A book. You know that sort that has printed pages in between covers and no pictures just words of wisdom? Oh they give you a headache? What exactly will bring a man your way and keep him? Do you have a source of income? A skill? Financial intelligence or you are a walking ATM seeker? Do you always ask ask ask and not work work work? Do you know how to cook? Yes cook. Cook for yourself at least not because you want to keep a man but because you ought to take better care of what you feed your body? Do you know the way to the kitchen or are you a Mr Biggs, Dominoes or KFC shareholder. Never mind the bigger swankier restaurants. Tell me what exactly are you bringing to the table? There are times he would need a real woman to share his worries with and your miniskirts and long lashes won't bring anything to that table. Most of ladies tend to spend so much on appearances trying to look sexy as hell forgetting he will not be Hot forever! There would be days when he would need your managerial qualities, but you're only used to being lavish;SLAY MAMA! Don't spend all your days making up and turning up anywhere a DJ takes his speakers to. Build yourself. Learn and practice things that can add value to your life, that is the real sexy! We need responsible mothers for our unborn children, not just SLAY QUEENS! This is 2017. Entitlement died on December 26th and was buried on December 31st 2016. Wise up. Culture / Emir Of Kano Sanusi Surprised Guests At Book Launching!!! by limpopo: 9:13pm On Sep 20, 2016 |
The former Central Bank Governor, and Emir of kano His royal highness muhammadu Sanusi the second , surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi. Below is his unedited speech. “Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir also fulani my uncle and guardian was also the immediate late Emir of kano Alhaji Ado Bayero and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation. “My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I cannot forgive people of my generation speaking in that language. “Let us go into this issue because there are so many myths that are being bandied around. Before colonialism, there was nothing like Northern Nigeria, Before the Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano regard himself as bakane. The man from Zaria was bazazzage. The man from Katsina was bakatsine. The kingdoms were at war with each other. They were Hausas, they were Muslims, they were killing each other. “The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko, Egba. When did they become one? When did the North become one? You have the Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one kingdom. They now said it was a Muslim North. “The Colonialists came, put that together and said it is now called the Northern Nigeria. Do you know what happened? Our grand fathers were able to transform to being Northerners. We have not been able to transform to being Nigerians. The fault is ours. Tell me, how many governors has South West produced after Awolowo that are role models of leadership? How many governors has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe that can be role models of leadership? How Many governors in the Niger Delta are role models of leadership? Tell me. There is no evidence statistically that any part of this country has produced good leaders. You talk about Babangida and the problems of our economy. Who were the people in charge of the economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae, Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in the North? “We started the banking reform; the first thing I heard was that in Urobo land, there will be a curse of the ancestors. I said they (ancestors) would not answer. They said why? I said how many factories did Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the ancestors of the Urobo people support her? “We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in 1959, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It was not. “The problem is: everywhere in this country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to get his hands on the pile and how much he can steal. Whether it is in the military or in the civilian government, they sit down, they eat together. In fact, the constitution says there must be a minister from every state. “So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria . The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty that you find in any part of the South. The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi talked about few numbers of graduates in the North (two as at independence) . What he did not say was that there was a documented policy of the British when they came that the Northerner should not be educated. It was documented. It was British colonial policy. I have the document. I have published articles on it. That if you educate the Northerner you will produce progressive Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in Egypt and India. So, do not educate them. It was documented. And you say they love us (North) more than the south. “I have spent the better part of my life to fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows it. Yes, my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in the pro- democracy movement fighting for June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano ? Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)? “There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth. “Stop talking about dividing Nigeria because we are not the most populous country in the world. We have all the resources that make it easy to make one united great Nigeria . It is better if we are united than to divide it. “Every time you talk about division, when you restructure, do you know what will happen? In Delta Area, the people in Warri will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was the Niger Delta constructed as a political entity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was happening? Now they have become Niger Delta because they have found oil. After, it will be, if you do not have oil in your village then you cannot share our resources. “There is no country in the world where resources are found in everybody’s hamlet. But people have leaders and they said if you have this geography and if we are one state, then we have a responsibility for making sure that the people who belong to this country have a good nature. “So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have infrastructure, we don’t have education, we don’t have health. We are still talking about Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is anybody saying there is no poverty among the Fulani?”, he said. This is a great message to our generation. |
Politics / A Clarion To NDIGBO From A Son Of The Land by limpopo: 9:58pm On Sep 10, 2016 |
Chris-lance Ogbonnaya Osondu-Onyemechara. (2016 September) writes; I'm glad to announce to Ndigbo that the exiting of the economic recession is ushering in a new Commercial Vista within our country. The Nigeria Government is targeting over 10,000 megawatts of electricity while Dangote has assured another 12,000 megawatts all before end of 2018. It's also important to note that these additions will not be at the mercy of vandals. With over 20,000 megawatts of electricity, there will be no stopping the industrialization of the New Nigeria. Sequel to these, there are undercurrent scheming, lobbying and strategic positioning and repositioning on - going at the moment to attract the best and most viable industries and investments within the different regions of the country. State Governors, notably Mallam Nasir El Rufai, leading the pack of a few other Northern State Governors, Ibikunle Amosun and Akinwumi Ambode running on the frontiers of the South West have made virile underground work to sit Africa's best industries within their states. Governor Amosun is taking advantage of the saturation of Lagos to open up Ogun State to investors, while A+ won't have any of that as he is busy opening up Agbara, Lekki, Ikorodu and other coastal and hinter areas of the state for commercial and industrial purposes. Time would fail me to reel out El-Rufai's solid plans in Kaduna State and the reverberation of his influence with the North to make the Northern part of the country a piece of Industrial haven. Foreign investors have been working underground with these leaders to bring back those industries that once announced this great country. Our Textile, Plastic, Rubber, Cocoa, Groundnut, Leather, Aluminum, Cable, Car, etc industries are all coming back on stream. With the reemergence of these businesses, Banks, Insurance and other service providers will have a field day in our nation. Nigeria is getting ready for a better tomorrow. Millions of our youths shall be gainfully employed! My poser today is: How ready are the Igbos? How prepared are the South East Governors? How willing are our industrial Giants? Where are the Ifeanyi Ubas, Arthur Ezes, Eric Umeofias, Innosons, Emmanuel Iheanachos, and hundreds of other unsung multi- billionaires from the land of the rising Sun? Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Are you ready to take advantage of this golden opportunities before us? For once, are you going to look Eastward for your investments? Are you willing to change Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi, Enugu, Okigwe, Afikpo and other sundry areas of the South East that are crying for Industrialization, or will you still be fixated on looking for forex to buy and sell? For our youngies, are you ready to Commence "operation hold our leaders responsible" for the actualization of this paradigm shift or are you also going to continue in your wild goose chase of Biafra Republic while the rest of the country moves on to Eldorado? Ndigbo, time to lay the foundation is almost over. By the end of next year (2017), other regions would be nearing "DPC". By 2018, these businesses will shoot out like the Chinese Bamboo! Do not blame Buhari for it if you do nothing today. Do not cry of marginalization if you do nothing. Do not say it's only Hausa- Muslim people that are being employed at that Alhaji Gambo's Textile Industry in Kano. Do not say the people there are all "speaking ngwati - ngwati" and won't look at your CV despite your first class or 2.1 grade. Ndigbo, you remain the sweetener of this Country. You are the only tribe that is found in over 95% of the earth. You pick up dust and you turn it into gold within a moment. Ten of you are killed today and another fifty are on their way to same place tomorrow! Your resilience amazes the most brave. Your intelligence draws both wealth and hatred to you, yet your prosperity remains unending. You are the most hated yet the most resourceful nation in the African continent. You are almost indispensable! Those that hate you cannot still do without you. Why don't you rise from this present obscurity and beam your Sun to the rest of the Nation? Nigeria is yearning for it. It is most needed to move our great country forward. Ndigbo, please for the sake of the great Zik of Africa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe arise! For the sake of Dr. Michael Okpara, arise!! For the sake of Eze Igbo Gburu-gburu, Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu arise!!! For the sake of our great nation NIGERIA, I say ARISE and re-take your place in our Political, Economic and Industrial landscape. - Chris-lance Ogbonnaya Osondu-Onyemechara. ikechu1: And do you realize that am also Yoruba and I don't talk like that..... In short, WE (Yoruba, IBO, Hausa and co) don't need to talk like that... In as much as am on this tread to have fun and also correct some wrongs and set the record straight... we should all remember that most of the things we are fighting for today are due to our Elders or Leaders Actions or Inactions,, Our leaders/Elders will cry FOUL of Marginalization when they are not invited to eat the National Cake... they don't do most of these things in the interest of the People... Is Ngige not from the EAST?? is he saying anything about Biafra Capital NO,, Why?? because he is at the TOP with them... let the govt get rid of him tomorrow, then you would hear another story entirely from him...... They meet in Clubs and make fun of us ( the common man) they only serve their pockets.. Please!! let's not get caught up in the whole marginalization and bad name calling of a thing.... WE are ALL better than these.. I Stand to be corrected!!! 1 Like 1 Share |

Yoruba's sell lands to every tribe.. we don't marginalize..... its hard to see a Yoruba man own a land, talkless of owning a house in IBO land, and if you see, then something must be out of place...
