A member of the British parliament, Harriet Harman has written a petition to the British government seeking to know the details of the continued detention of radio Biafra Director, Nnamdi Kanu. Harman, who represents Camberwell and Peckham, sought to know why Kanu, who is a British citizen was arrested on Saturday, October 17, 2015. In the petition titled “Detention of my constituent Mr. Nnamdi Kanu”, which addressed to Phillip Hammond, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and dated Thursday, October 22, 2015, Harman maintained that since Kanu and his Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement was non-violent, he should be protected by Article 1 of the United Nations charter. Nnamdi Kanu (m), Director of Radio Biafra The petition read: “I understand that Mr Nnamdi Kanu, who I am told is a British citizen and lives at …was arrested on the 17th October 2015 by the Nigerian Department of Security Services (DSS) when arriving in Lagos from the United Kingdom. “I understand Nnamdi is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who are agitating for the independence of Nigeria’s former Eastern Region. I’m told that the pro-Biafra group are non-violent and therefore should be afforded protection under Article 1 of the charter of the United Nations. “I’d be grateful if you could let me know your understanding of what Nnamdi has been arrested for, what he might be charged with, where he has been held and what consular engagement there has been.” Below is a copy of the petition: source British Legislator Petitions UK Government Over Nnamdi Kanu's Detention [LOOK] - http://www.thetrentonline.com/british-legislator-petitions-uk-government-over-nnamdi-kanus-detention-look/?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=whatsapp&utm_source=mobile

harristo:3)the ones that haven't had the opportunity. |
kingsolex:Eh ya ....you are trying so hard. |
I noticed I opened this thread just to check the name. If only this rivalry between Yorubas and Igbos can make them productive and innovative......so far the result is just mere hatred. Anyway how many of you guys here can swear they won't do drugs to make quick money with assurances of not being caught. |
Honestly there was so much ado about nothing concerning amechi's ministerial screening. He performed well below par. He never offered any viable solution to the simple questions presented to him. Couldn't articulate his speech and seemed not to know the definition of a corrupt person. He seemed to be rather timid and scared to upset akpabio when asked if 19 was greater than 16(I'll leave that to ffk to decide if he was a coward). I only regret wasting my time watching him with the thoughts that he had something to offer. Everything he said lacked substance and this surely is a loss to democracy and Nigerians. My two cents....and I'm neither pdp nor APC |
Sugarhugs:"Talk less" is considered an incorrect grammar. Rather use "let alone" or "talk more" |
misspicy:My dear you are entitled to your opinion. I've seen guys say things like that all the time. So whether a joke or not, it's your choice. But being awake to respond to posts at 3am...you need to get a job asap >: ![]() |
And is nairaland the relevant authorities? having reviewed this comment and peoples responses to it, I think I was wrong to have made the comment. Social media is a good tool for spreading important information. On another note, people should learn not to resist attacks from these devilish robbers. Don't try to form Jackie chan with them except if you are one. They don't value human lives and are ready to waste anyone who stands in their way. Few months ago at diobu, phc, one guy was shot dead after he held one of the robbers who snatched his bag. What was inside that bag was not worth up to 20k. Finally, may God keep us safe from all forms of robbery attacks this year. Our loved ones will not fall victim IJN. |
Ok |
"My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian"-GEJ Well, that's one of my favorite quotes from nigerian politicians. |
Yesterday, I was having a conversation with my friend on Palmchat, and she was ranting about her Boyfriend being stingy. The guy is very rich and has refused to support her financially in anyway. Would you date a guy like that? Personally, I won't especially if he is rich! Maybe the rich boyfriend wants to know if she truly loves him or his money. The question of "who is stingy" should always be asked to get a clearer picture. Most people give according to their ability. While some guys can buy an iphone6 for their gf as birthday gifts, others can only afford a perfume. Others might go as low as buying a cream. Neither of the above is stingy.its just their capabilities. Being prudent is different from being stingy. So let's get that straight. |
Nice thread |
Opium of the people |

Hmmm |

seniorbros:I know about biafra and afenifere(odua republic). It's just that biafrans are more serious |
ayd91:I like your approach to your disagreement. But I still disagree. First, Nigeria as a country in design had some flaws some of which have been corrected. We've made some progress so far. if the flaws have been corrected, why do people still agitate for freedom? Why did the southerners flee from the northern region during the last election? There was a threat of ethnic cleansing if PMB lost. (2011 comes to mind). Second, We've made some progress so far. oh yes! But very slow progress compared with the huge resources at our disposal. Or simply put we have progressed backwards. What is the poverty rate again? What about the diversification of economy that has always been discussed since 1983. Are you okay with the income distribution in your country? Why do northerners still kill southerners/Christians over issues that happened in Denmark? Etc etc etc. Ghana doesn't have up to 1/20 of the resources available to us but your countrymen troop to their country in masses for higher education. Third, . The question of breaking up should be left to the next two generations who I believe would be in a better position to decide the fate of Nigeria. . Again why should we leave this for our future generation to still tackle? We should leave them with solid foundation to become a reference point in Africa in terms of innovation and development. Not crisis of unity Fourth, To say people are unwilling to die for Nigeria is right and wrong hey bro you need to wake up right now. I know most soldiers I discussed with who wanted to quit the nigerian army cos they were sent to Bornu. They simply remained because it's simply not allowed in the military. Most of them got into the military because of unemployment and not passion for the country. And they remain there because there's no way out. I also took you serious until you said that civilians are willing to die for Nigeria. Even armed policemen who are equally civilians go into hiding when they hear of robbery attack. Conclusively, a nation divided cannot stand. We do not have the same value systems. While it's acceptable to marry a 10 year old girl in sokoto, it is a taboo in delta state. While it's okay to gulp one can of origin in phc, you can lose your hand for that in zamfara. Unity and love is highly needed before a country can make significant progress. The fact there is a federal character is a testament to the fact that we are struggling to be one. |
The question F.G should ask themselves is "why are people still clamoring for this cause?" There cannot be true progress of a nation without genuine reconciliation, fairness, non_victimization, equality to all parties concerned. How many people are really proud to be Nigerians? How many people can die for Nigeria? What is the Nigerian dream(just like we have American dream). Who are our founding fathers....Are they men of integrity? The hard fact is that 80 years from now, the next generation will still be clamouring for break-up which goes to show that the foundation of this country is wrong. Nigeria is not a nation because nobody is willing to die for Nigeria. Breaking this country can be a blessing in disguise for all parties. |
How come |
bugzbunny:Bros nawa o. Are you having eye problems? |
Drchristian:You mean the dirtiest city in the world? |
Hmmm. Seems like the Yorubas are more interested in this Biafra thing than the Igbos. Statistically, based on a research conducted on nigerian social media, 65% of comments made on biafra threads are done by the Yorubas while merely 20% of comments are from Igbos. ![]() |
Yorubas acting very silly nowadays. Is it because Hausas and Igbos see them as cowards? |

Lanceslot:nwanne there's no need for insults. I wonder what kind of bait this is. you need to understand that the British are more interested in keeping the zoo as one. so who will speak for him? the Americans value their friendship with the British than your biafran dream. all these played out during the war when the whole world abandoned us. so before you make your boasts and insults, get your facts right. once again welcome to the zoo...mad people everywhere |
Na lie. First it was oshiomhole when he said U.S official gave buhari a list of corrupt ministers. Second, it was news that Allison maduke was arrested when she was merely invited. Now this.. What's with APC and falsehood? Five months now, the country still has no direction except body languages and body odours. God pls save us from this party. We need you now more than ever. APC and lies is like C. Ronaldo and goals. |
unpredictedone:It's more expensive anywhere far from the coasts. In Lagos, phc, Owerri, warrie etc... It's about 150k. But for Abuja, you can expect up to 1 million if u will do with machine or 250k if u want to use aboki local ones... P.s contact a civil engineer |
Nnamdi kanu is a learner. First he said that the zoo will be worst than Somalia if the zoo police kills any of his members. They did. Only for him to start doing petition against buhari. When he announced he was coming to the zoo, I wondered what gave him the confidence that the zoo dss would spare him. He should take some notes from uwazuruike, abiola, Asari dokubo on how their lives changed after being detained. I will miss him though, his bluntness, his high sense of humor his arrogance and his complete honesty to situations, and his attacks on Yoruba media. I knew it would end this way. The same old script Welcome to the zoo. |
Wow |
miszeno:Okay just call me when u get to portharourt. I will help direct your ways around. You also need where to pass the night. Thank me later |
