I don't like literature. Can't boast of reading up to ten novels for the past 30 years of my life. But here am I reading the rock's story ever since it made front page. For you to hold me spellbound reading your stories, YOU ARE JUST TOO GOOD AND YOU REALLY ROCK.
Religion / Re: Is It Right For Churches To Record Tithes? by Lincolnburrows(m): 8:15am On Oct 27, 2013
my dear, all churches record their tithes here in Nigeria. some give u a unique number identification, some would give u a tithe card. whichever way they all register their members tithes and use for important decisions. now the practice didn't start today. remember in the parable of good Samaritan, a priest ignored that dying man cos his name was not in their tithe record books. I don't know if the practice is right, and honestly I don't care to know because I can't convince my church to stop doing it and neither can u.

TV/Movies / Re: DStv Raises Charges Again. by Lincolnburrows(m): 11:58am On Oct 06, 2013
I'm surprised that there are people here who didn't know there are so many alternatives to dstv in Nigeria. I have been using metro digital for three years and I watch all stations I could ever dream of watching on it. This includes la liga, epl, Italian league, French league etc. in fact all major sport shows including grand slams and ATP tours( if you love sports, go for metro or ctl). How about the news stations-CNN,bbc, aljazeera, etc.. then the national geograhics, animal planet, discovery channels(all these for N3500)... then the movie channels-mbc2, mbc4, osn, and so many of them.
After all these, I decided to buy a dstv decoder just two months ago for no reason at all(maybe to do big boy). I must confess the picture quality is superb. But I subscribed for family(because it falls in the price range I pay for metro). I ended up having only CNN and NTA as my favorite stations. All I could see was that other interesting channels were either scrambled or unavailable. Upon enquiries, I found out that those stations I was enjoying in metro for N3500(including ordinary BBc) I can only get them in dstv for 11k. Now I'm looking for a buyer(dstv decoder and every accessories) but people are pricing it 8k for a cable I bought for 30k and have lasted for less than 3 months...sobs

Travel / Re: You want to COME TO AMERICA - Do You REALLY Know America? by Lincolnburrows(m): 11:05am On Oct 06, 2013
InvertedHammer:

Now you are talking. Don't let people like ozo emeka talk you out of pursuing better life for yourself. Remember in life there are 2 categories of people: People who see a cup of water as half-empty and others that see it as half-full. Be optimistic.

USA is the shiznit! Simple as that. With USA passport you don't need visa to most countries of the world. Try beating that. I was in Guangzhou
last year. While most Nigerian business men were having their passports scrutinized by the hotel they intended to lodge in, I breezed in like
a royalty with my USA passport without any delay. Other countries that matter respect USA. And you want to listen to ozo emeka? Laughs.
Heck if any country wahala me, I will run to the nearest USA embassy and will be offered full protection. Try running to Nigeria Embassy anywhere.

Two days ago, I flew back into Cali from Houston where I went to chill for a week to relieve stress.

Last night I left Grand Havana in Beverly Hills, drove through 101 FRWY heading south and drove past downtown Los Angeles.
Boy or boy. This is the place to be my brother.

I get paid bi-weekly and have never had to deal with salary in arrears. Government in Nigeria sometimes owe more than 2 months salaries in arrears. How can one plan his/her life around that shenanigan?

The funny thing is that no matter how busy things get in USA, I enjoy it. It beats being idle. I guess that explains why I get bored after 1 week in Nigeria. If you drive through Central District Abuja at night,it has that eerie feelings to it. No night life. NEPA does not help matter either. I chill at Transcorp most of the time and go to Cubana, Central Park or few other places in FCT to wind down. It gets old after few days. Now throw the fear of Boko in the midst, you have boredom waiting to happen.

Lagos is a no go area. Too dirty and noisy. I pretty much stay in doors in that city because if you don't jam trouble, trouble will jam you.

My brother, come "away" to broaden your horizon. After all na our people talk am say "waka waka na im sabi pass gray hair". The exposure is unquantifiable.

My brother, YOU ARE A BIG BOY. I thank God for your life.

What's the need for traditional marriage when you don't want to do it in your village. Simply ignore it and proceed to the white wedding. If u must do traditional, it has to be in the village.

Anyway there might be some few cases which the umunna has to approve.

kinxlee: Just as it was in FIFA13, Nigeria is missing from national teams in FIFA14 despite winning AFCON, another notable omission is japan, what could possibly have gone wrong? Is it because Nigeria still does not have a starting 11 yet(building process) or is it our woefull performance in the past years that is still keeping us away from it?

The FIFA13 I have on my ipad has Nigerian team in it.

Religion / What If God Decides To Judge Us By What We Believe? by Lincolnburrows(m): 9:07am On Aug 25, 2013
Oh yeah! So many religions, so many doctrines. Everyone believes his own is the only true religion. Just in Christianity alone, I heard we have over 45000 doctrines. The funny part is this: Catholics believe the Protestants are on the Wrong path. The Protestants believe the Catholics are not true Christians. The Muslims are not left out. As they stick to Islam as the only true revealed religion. Same thing goes on with every other religion in the world including Buddhism and Judaism.
My major concern here is this: in all these religions, there are tenets, principles, and laws you are meant to abide. So many Christians are ready to defend and fight for the doctrine they believe in whether on the streets or in the Internet. Yet most of them live in sin.. They consistently fail to turn the other cheek when offended as Jesus commanded. I know so many Muslims that steal, accept bribe, lie, fornicate as against the teachings of the prophet. But we are very quick to quote the Quran and the Bible on nairaland but fail to heed to the teachings of your religion.
Right now, I'm not interested in proving which of the religions is right. Just like everybody claims his own is perfect and real.
My question is just simple: if God decides to judge you by that religion which you believe is the right one, will you be safe or damned

Passing judgments without hearing from both parties...

She never mentioned unprovoked attacks like slaps, breaking my shoulder twice as well as bruising my hand on the rough wall and most recently, breaking my tablet...

I need clarity from her on assistance in Uni days...for crying out loud was I a hungry student even with a ride on Campus and a comfortable off-k apartment?

I have told her if she wishes to leave, she can get the hell out...women borku left, right and centre, no time...she cannot cook, she cannot do anything, such a lazy azz, no african man wants a lazy azz, she can leave if she so wishes instead of killing me...and for the period she's still around, she should stay off my phones...why should I be asleep and she's busy searching my phones, even when she chats with guys, etc, I keep deaf ears...

My 2 cents...

Don't understand. Are u the husband? I mean- are u the wife beater she's talking about?

Religion / Re: TB Joshua Sees A Revolution In Nigeria by Lincolnburrows(m): 11:47pm On Jul 15, 2013
Na today! Nigerians I know are not ready for any revolution even in 50 years to come. People here comparing us with the Arabs fail to realize that we Nigerians are cowards. Nobody is willing to die for his cause. We don't have the same mentality, oneness, and love like the Arabs. A good example is what happened during the subsidy crisis. Why Lagos was busy doing occupy Nigeria, portharourt guys were just enjoying themselves because of the long break from work. Even the lagosians that did occupy Nigeria also showed how much of a coward they were when everybody hid in their houses as GEJ deployed soldiers to Lagos. I would be very sincere here- any call for revolution, I will gladly join in the protests. But not in the streets with placards. I will be doing my own revolution in my sitting room with my eyes glued to channels television while also doing "first to comment" on every threads opened on nairaland at the time.
