Dear V.O ,please I am not here to ask for an update on my status rather to seek your opinion on this. I was interviewed on 28th of January and after the interview I was placed on admistrative processing. The consula told me to give him few weeks and also gave me a paper which says that if I am not contacted within 60 days that I should send them an email. Since that time I have being checking for update on ceac. It turned from administrative processing to issued. Its now 14 days and I have not recieved any mail or call from the embassy, is it ideal for me to email them asking them my case status since it is not up to 60 days ? Meanwhile I am CR1

Visa Officer,
NVC does not accept NPC birth certificate. This issue held me up at NVC for a couple of months, and they didn't budge. They quoted something from a USCIS gazette about births before NPC, they expect a birth certificate from the local council, or Lagos Birth Registry, if born in Lagos. A few people have experienced this issue also.
I called to find out exactly what they want and they specified that they require the letter of certification that one's birth was registered with the local government, along with an affidavit from a close relative, preferably the mother.

@ sisitadun , so my dear did you later get it from the Local govt council where you were born and did they acknowledge it ?

So my V.O what do you suggest I do ? Because having seen this ; Here is the official guidance for Nigeria:

Birth and Death Certificates

Generally available, particularly for events occurring after 1970. Registration of births and deaths is compulsory in Lagos. The National Population Commission issues birth certificates for births after 1992.

For Lagos records, certified copies of records for dates ending with 1979 can be obtained at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Old Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos. For records after 1979, contact the local government that issued the original certificate directly. Most births and deaths outside of Lagos are also registered at the time of the event. Applicants can obtain certified true copies of certificates directly from the local government.

The guidance goes on to say "Alternatively, acceptable identity/parentage documents are infant baptismal certificates and hospital or maternity clinic records of birth. Home births are rare in Nigeria and medical records are available in most cases. Affidavits may be acceptable as substitutes for documents for those born outside Lagos prior to 1960 or born in the eastern part of Nigeria in the 1960's at the time of the Biafran War, when presented in combination with convincing secondary evidence of relationship" -- but if someone who should be able to provide a government-issued document shows up and claims that all he has is a hospital certificate, the officer will very likely strongly recommend a DNA test.
I get more confused because I was born in the 80's and was wondering if I could go to the local govt of my place of birth and get a birth certificate with my own affidavit to back it up or should I still go ahead and resubmit the NPC copy ? Please advice me for I don't know what to do again.

Thank you for your prompt response. I received a call from my husband telling me that the NVC have replied his congress man, that what is missing in the documents submitted is my birth certificate. I summited the one I got from National Population Council ( NPC ) which means that one is not acceptable. I was born in the eighties, I went to the hospital where I was born to get it they issued me this one from this council telling me that the don't issue birth certificats again. Kindly advice me on what to do. Remain blessed

An NPC birth certificate ought to be acceptable at NVC. Perhaps the one you submitted was somehow misplaced? What exactly did NVC say?

They said that the NVC received the following; Passport,Marriage certificate,Financial evidence, Nigerian police report. That they will still need a copy of my birth certificate and after the NVC receives all the required forms and document, they will now schedule me for immigrant visa appointment and forward to Consulate General in Lagos.

My V.O I am still worried about my case. Up till now I have not heard from NVC ,even my husband who is the petitioner has written to them but no reply yet. I believe if there is any problem they could have written to us giving us situation report. Again do you conduct interview till December period and will my interview date be send to me through e-mail ?

We do conduct interviews throughout the holiday season. NVC should contact you both by e-mail and by regular mail. I don't have a guess as to what's delaying your case, but have you tried contacting them through this site? https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php

Greetings my amiable V.O. For all these good works God will reward you. Honestly I am very worried about what is happening. I am CR1 and my case was completed since April my husband was able to get NVC two weeks ago and he was told about the technical problem but somebody on this forum said that their case was completed in may 26th and they have already booked them for interview. kindly assist me because I don't know what is happening.

Different cases are affected by our technical problems in different ways. I know it's hard to wait, but please be patient -- NVC will schedule your case for an interview as soon as it can.

Still very worried my V.O ,I'm short of words. kindly assist me.

Good morning V.O , i applied for a visiting visa last year January as a single lady to visit my elder sister who i have not seen for 8 years that gave birth but was denied, three months after then my husband filled CR1 for me. Although i and my husband have already fixed our traditional marriage for February last year after i might have come back from my tour. My question is ,is it going to affect this present one ?

I must need more coffee -- I'm not understanding your question. Could you rephrase for me (and I'll go get some coffee

Hahaha good morning V.O, i mean i was denied visa last year January, i wasn't married but was in a relationship then. But before the interview i and my have already fixed our Traditional (Feb ) court wedding(march) 2014 and my reason for travelling then was to visit my immediate elder sister whom i have not seen for 8 years that gave birth in in Dec 2013, planned to stay with them for 2 weeks and come back for my wedding and my job. After our wedding my husband travelled back and filed CR1 for me. I want to know if that former will affect this present one. I pray you 'll understand me better now.

Thank you v.o for your reply another thing is I ommitted my village in my parent's address although the house number and the town is there and I know retrieving it will delay my case. I made sure now that the house is boldly seen on the wall of the house. My questions are ; do you still send someone from your office to investigate and know if all the beneficiary said is true. Again do you also go to there place of work . I'm just worry about the mistake

Dear v.o , I really do appreciate the way you tackle issues here . My husband filled for an immigrant visa for me which I know it might have gotten to your office in Lagos by the grace of God. Do i have to provide all the originals of the documents he summited to NVC when coming for interview and even the originals of his divorce papers, affidavit of support, Tax remmitted for 3 to 4 years ,etc ? Another thing , do I have to bring evidence of our joint account ?
