PoliticsRe: Troops Clear Gworege Village Of Terrorists, Recover Arms & Ammunition - Photos by livebyday(m): 5:57pm On Sep 09, 2019
Monday headline : ISIS and Iswap wipe 40 Nigerian soldiers and seize all the weapons

Wednesday headline: Nigerian Army says they cleared out bokoharam from 400 local governments in Borno state

Friday Headline: bokoharam ambushes army convoy 200 soldiers missing and about 100 confirmed dead

Saturday headline : Nigerian army says they pushed back a bokoharam assault on a village in borno and hundreds of fighters killed

It's looking more like the army specializes in.propaganda after they have been dealt a blow by the Terrorists

Otherwise I don't understand why we usually see these headlines days after bokoharam or ISIS kill lots of soldiers and it gets to the media then suddenly they do something
undecided

Sad indeed

BusinessMTN South Africa Fined R5 Million For Whatsapp Price Hike by livebyday(op):
MTN has been issued a fine by ICASA’s Complaints and Compliance Committee (CCC) for not observing the required notice period when increasing the price of its 1GB WhatsApp data bundle.

The fine comprises a total of R5 million, of which R2 million is suspended for three years following the date of the ruling.

MTN was found to have contravened regulation 9 of the standard terms and conditions by not notifying ICASA at least seven days before changing the price of its monthly 1GB WhatsApp data bundle to R30.

“The contravention, even considered within its background was, accordingly, a serious contravention,” the CCC stated.

“ICASA obviously, by regulation, places a high premium on compliance with the seven working days’ notice. Only two working days’ notice was given.”

However, the committee did acknowledge that MTN faced extenuating circumstances in changing the price before the notice period had lapsed.

MTN explained that it was forced to hike the price of the bundle to avoid a potential disaster.

“The earlier implementation of the price increase was forced by technical risks whose eventual occurrence could have been catastrophic,” the ruling stated.

“The volume of traffic on the WhatsApp bundle was unprecedented, and thus it presented novel challenges to MTN.”

3G demand
MTN South Africa Executive for Corporate Affairs Jacqui O’Sullivan stated that the price change was implemented due to the unprecedented demand on the operator’s 3G network.

“In April 2018, MTN launched its social bundles and introduced a monthly WhatsApp bundle of 1GB for just R10,” O’Sullivan said.

“The public’s response was exceptional. WhatsApp usage on the MTN network increased by 300% in just eight weeks.”

“An unintended consequence of the low-priced WhatsApp data has been an extraordinary increase in demand on MTN’s 3G network,” she said.

At the time, MTN urgently invested a further R200 million in its 3G network to accommodate the huge spike in traffic.

After an initial price increase earlier in the year, MTN notified ICASA of another price increase to R30 for its WhatsApp bundle, and requested leniency on the regulator’s requirement of a seven-day notice period.

MTN SA CEO Godfrey Motsa sent a letter highlighting the risks to the company’s 3G network due to the spike in traffic caused by the WhatsApp data bundle price.

MTN said it did not receive a response to the letter, and on 16 July, it introduced the pricing change.

Fighting Back
“MTN is committed to compliance and to maintaining good relationships with all stakeholders and the decision to proceed, without some sort of ICASA-issued condonation, was not made lightly,” O’Sullivan said.

“At the time, we believed this was the only action to ensure the continued functionality of MTN SA’s 3G network and considering the risk posed to millions of customers had that network failed, the difficult decision was made.”

“We were very aware of the required ICASA timing, which is why we applied for leniency, but this was a tough situation, and, at the time, we did what we felt necessary to protect the connectivity of millions of South Africans,” she added.

MTN said it has considered the content of the decision and argues that the penalty applied should be proportionate to the transgression and that it should be reasonable considering the circumstances.

For this reason, MTN said it will be fighting the decision in the High Court.

Why Nigeria cannot afford a stand-off with South Africa
Today Abuja addresses Pretoria from a position of weakness.

At present, it is clear Nigeria does not have the military, the intelligence capability or the diplomatic clout to pursue a serious escalation against even a regional power, such as South Africa.

This diplomatic "standoff" with Pretoria has again exposed the weakness Abuja has masked in parading itself as a self-styled "Giant of Africa". South Africa used to be a bully that Nigeria could restrain through its support for proxies inside the country and its neighbourhood. But since the end apartheid, this relationship has evolved into a regional competition, which Pretoria is winning.

TravelRe: Total Number Of Foreigners In South Africa As At 2017- United Nations by livebyday(m):
This is not surprising, I intentionally don't comment much on this incident due to the general level of reasoning I see on this forum

Nigerians are the minority in terms of foreign immigrant population in SA for crimes.

A poster asked above why we are in the headlines and it surprises me! is it that the person doesn't understand the concept of envy?

The regular young man in Mzanzi is lazy, gives into the cull of hard drugs, derives pleasure in.raping under aged High school girls and when his wife returns home from work tired and exhausted then confronts him with the information the neighbors gave her that he brought a teenager into their home while she was at work he proceeds to beat her up.

Now then moves in the Nigerian trader who came armed.with determination to hustle hard and repay the money used to send him there, he has no time for trivialities but Hawks his gala and coke on the streets there..

Mind you mzanzi youth see such jobs as far below them, they believe they have earned the right to a good life for their parents suffering apartheid... They have a serious entitlement complex

But they watch the Nigerian hustle everyday leaving his house at 6am to catch the early morning train out to sell gala and coke in CBD joburg to workers

After six months same nigerian trader rents a shop and starts selling medicines in a chemist and he is getting more money the typical mzanzi young man is infuriated and upset as his wife he beats up regularly is comparing him to the Nigerian ..and this annoys him!

To cut a long story short the Nigerians hustle spirit holds a mirror up to the SA youth faces and they don't like what they see, hence they resort to the age old primial instinct which says what they don't understand they fear and how do weaklings respond to fear ? They mob attack and inflict bodily harm

Nigerians aren't a major concern for crime in SA as they are just loud and more determined hustlers

The typical Mzanzi youth is local , uninspired and a masochist

This is good

We need to really stem the tide of fake news spreading across local social.media forums.

If you are a blogger, platform moderator, or free Lance content writer , remember it behoves you to do some due diligence in verifying news you post.

Don't say it's not your concern or after all others are also spreading this news, remember your quest for clicks or views can plunge a nation into civil war.

And I am old enough to have seen how karma works, trust me she is precise and deliberate

The problem we have is people like frobels being picky in his/er information. Nigerians are Nigerians outside. And because we still segregate, the respect would never be given to them.

I was in Italy last time and I met some Nigerians speaking pidgin. The moment I called my name, they started identifying themselves with me as their brother. I was just talking to a security official and they were stranded.

Like I said, we do not come from same state or even geopolitical zone but for the mere fact we met turned us relatives.

That is suppose to be the oneness and not this rubbish youths of leaders of tomorrow that the fathers don't want them to be is possessing.

To hard to understand.

What is derailing in what I said. When is it a sin to mention a certain tribe on Nairaland? Because I said i pity them for what is happening, does that necessarily mean I'm derailing the thread. Are we operating under a military regime on Nairaland where the MOD will dictate every word we need to use? I as much as I am not abusing any tribe I think you are the one derailing the thread yourself.
Are you done?

This is what happens when Nigerians reason your matter. That guy was doing well before o. But all of a sudden Nigerians started hyping him up and calling him highest paid robotics engineer in the world. When there is no real measure for it.

It didn't take long for scrutiny to come. As soon as eyes took interest in him due to the hype and decided to look at the company books they found out something else. And the smart guys decided to shut down quickly before hurting their reputation.

I don't know why you guys will be calling this guy the highest paid engineer and the owner of the company when he is just a co-founder and there are many Japanese and Chinese robotics industries like DJI with lots of products that consumers use.
He signed a deal with apple to market the robots and launch the AR feature to the market unfortunately the robots weren't selling well, hence apple pulled out

End of the journey
