https://www.bellanaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Wole-Soyinka-July-2014-BellaNaija.com-01.jpg Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka speaking yesterday, November 23 showed his exasperation over pupils who wear school uniforms that depict their religion in Nigeria. he made this stand at the inauguration of a N750m school built by the Osun State Government in Ejigbo. The school was named after him. Professor Soyinka warned against dividing the pupils along religious lines by allowing them to wear uniforms that portrayed their religious distinctions. furthermore, he pointed out that the feeling of holier than thou was one of the factors that brought about the abduction of the Chibok girls by Boko Haram militants. Soyinka also chastised the federal government for not being able to rescue the kidnapped Chibok girls since they were abducted by Boko Haram. He described it as a “shame” on the federal government. He said; “One of the ways we can reduce this fatalistic sense of holiness is to reduce the element of difference. I wish to implore that we do not distinguish our children by their religions. In schools, we need not distinguish our children, the fatalistic religious holiness and the holier-than-thou attitude must be reduced among our pupils. It is a shame that the nation cannot account for over 200 girls in Chibok. I sympathize with the religious policy of governments in school; children must not be brought up feeling that religion inhibits knowledge.”Source: http://blog.livefromnaija.com/2015/11/24/wole-soyinka-lashes-out-on-the-fg/ cc Lalasticlala |

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, has once again restated that insurgency has no place in Islam, advising Muslims to extract bad elements among them. He also advised Muslims to teach their children to avoid the young ones from being needlessly radicalized and recruited into insurgency. Sultan of Sokoto made the statement at the turbaning of the Grand Imam of Ekiti state, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, as the president general of the League of Imams and Alfas in Southwest, Edo and Delta states. Abubakar said: “Occasions like this are not for celebration mainly but a time to tackle the situation facing us as Muslims in Nigeria and every part of the world. “The problems that await the newly appointed president-general of League Imams and Alfas is to bring together all the Muslim leaders in this region and other parts of the country. “This is to resolve and work together on how to stop our children from engaging in terrorisms. It is imperative for us as Islamic leaders to teach our children what is Islamic and what is not Islamic. “I cannot imagine when a small boy or girl is paid to commit suicide and kill innocent people all in the name of using Islamic religion to perpetrate evil. “For the record, those children and people killing innocent people in this country are not Muslims but terrorists. “That is why the newly appointed president-general must ensure that adequate teaching of Islamic religion is given to Muslim brothers and sisters. “I urge all the Islamic youths present in this occasion not to accommodate bad ones among you because they want to destroy the Islamic religion in this country and the world at large. “Islam does not allow weapons, explosive or bombs, so, therefore, we must educate all our youths not to indulge in the act of terrorism.” Nigeria’s militant Boko Haram sect is fighting to take over the government and create an Islamic state. The group promotes a version of Islam which makes it “haram”, or forbidden, for Muslims to take part in any political or social activity associated with Western society. Source: Naij. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/govenor.jpg Akwa Ibom State Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel has responded to rising issues in the state as regards to the fuel scarcity which struck the state and other parts of Nigeria as well as other trivial issues in the state. Mr Udom Emmanuel addressed the issues while giving a speech this morning at a prayer meeting session which took place at the state government house Latter Day Chapel. speaking on the issue of fuel scarcity the state governor had this to say “I appeal to the federal government, the solution is simple; empower Akwa Ibom and we’ll give fuel to Nigeria”He went on further to explain how the prevailing issue of lack of foreign exchange has affected the the marketers of petroleum products. “ … in Nigeria, there’s serious scarcity of foreign exchange, banks do not have foreign exchange to give to importers of fuel, so even when they pay subsidy, you’ll have the Naira but you need the dollars to use and import petroleum products and banks are not giving them because there’s no foreign exchange.”he said. He also advised the country to encourage local refineries while mentioning that about 3 investors from the United States were interested in developing local refineries to better standards in Akwa Ibom State. In other news, the Governor mentioned his administration’s plan to build a Jetty in Ikot Abasi to compliment the Ibaka Deep Sea Port when completed. He pointed out that it was appalling that the state which boasts of the longest coastline in the sub-region does not have a Jetty. The governor also spoke on the reason why some parts of the state experience power outage for as long as four days stating that it was due to the fact that there is a lot of renewal projects going on in the sector such as building of new injection stations in some areas and that in other areas there was a need for complete overhauling of power cables as the ones present were mostly dilapidated. The governor also advised detractors to desist from lies and all forms of calumny while encouraging the state to be steadfast and have faith in his administration. He also reaffirmed his resolution to remain focused and that he will always put matters affecting the general well-being of the state first. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Screenshot-31.png The enemies of Mr Udom Emmanuel, the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, were each given seven red cards by Prelate Isaiah Isong of the Believers Assembly Evangelical Worldwide at this month’s state executive prayer meeting which held today 21st November, 2015. The service holds once every month at the state Government House Chapel; Latter House Chapel. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Screenshot-28.png Speaking from 2 Samuel 15:21 and 31 on the theme “O Lord, I say NO, NO, NO”, the prelate issued seven red cards to the enemies of the Governor and those of the state, stating that no one can dethrone the state boss by any means. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Screenshot-27.png One cannot but wonder if this is plain sycophancy, given the political topsy-turveydom in the state or if the man of God is actually doing his master’s bidding. However, the man of God should have at least tempered justice with mercy and given the Governor’s enemies yellow cards first. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Fuel-Scarcity-In-Uyo-4.jpg Fuel Scarcity has continued to be on the increase in Uyo the Akwa Ibom state capital and across other parts of Nigeria..This menace has gone on for almost two weeks now, findings have shown that some marketers deliberately hoard the already scarce products and the few filling stations that dispense the products do that at skyrocketed prices. For instance just this morning, only Oando filling station along Aka Etinan Road (And maybe few others) is dispensing the product. Surprisingly Oando sales at the 87 naira fixed rate, being a mega station. There’s a very long cue and an uncontrollable crowd struggling to get the product, due to the fact that other stations are not selling. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Fuel-Scarcity-In-Uyo-31.jpg According to our reporters who are on ground at the filling station we have been made to understand that getting the product is a survival of the fittest and a battle for the able as consumers are seen engaging in vehement struggles just to be able to have access to PMS. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Fuel-Scarcity-In-Uyo-31.jpg It is pertinent to note at this point that a lot of business depend largely on petrol in order to run their generators as power supply in the state continues to dwindle. The cost of Transportation in the state has double, just this morning one of our reporters had to pay twice the price he pays for regular route. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Fuel-Scarcity-In-Uyo-1.jpg Could the fuel scarcity in the state be directly connected to the fact that marketers are yet to be paid the N413bn subsidy claims? we’re yet to find out and once we do, you’ll be the first to know. Also our reporters are working on getting an interview with some of the angry crowd. We’ll keep you updated once we do. President Muhammadu Buhari speaking today reemphasized that Nigeria remains one indivisible body regardless of all the internal chaos and civil unrest it has suffered over the last 55 years. He made this statement in reaction to the ever increasing clamour for the creation of sovereign state of Biafra across parts of the country. https://blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Muhammadu-Buhari-epic.jpg Buhari made this known while launching the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance and Appeal Fund at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja in his words: “Our nation has recently celebrated 55 years of political independence and continues to remain as one indivisible entity despite several grievous challenges. Since independence, Nigeria has witnessed a lot of internal strife, survived a civil war and has remained united. This feat achieved by the country is an eloquent testimony to the determination of our citizens to remain as one people.” PMB went on further to promise that the sacrifices of the nation’s fallen heroes, heroines and veterans who rose up to the security challenges could not go unnoticed. A statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday said Dr Enoch presentation of the Proof on November 11, 2015 during the International Conference on Mathematics and Computer Science in Vienna, Austria becomes more symbolic coming on the exact day and month 156 years after the problem was delivered by a German Mathematician in 1859. The Riemann Zeta Hypothesis is one of the seven Millennium problems set forth by the Clay Mathematics Institute with a million Dollar reward for each solved problem for the past 16 years. https://i2.wp.com/blog.livefromnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/maths.jpg?resize=460%2C212 According to the statement, “Dr Enoch first investigated and then established the claims of Riemann. He went on to Consider and to correct the misconceptions that were communicated by Mathematicians in the past generations, thus paving way for his solutions and proofs to be established. “He also showed how other problems of this kind can be formulated and obtained the matrix that Hilbert and Poly predicted will give these undiscovered solutions. He revealed how these solutions are applicable in cryptography, quantum information science and in quantum computers,” it stated. Three of the problems had been solved and the prizes given to the winners. This makes it the fourth to be solved of all the seven problems. Dr Enoch had previously designed a Prototype of a silo for peasant farmers and also discovered a scientific technique for detecting and tracking someone on an evil mission. Enoch has succeeded in inventing methods by which oil pipelines can be protected from vandalism and he is currently working on Mathematical approaches to Climate Change.
