I like as people are not responding to mentions of people.

Lmao.
As e wan turn agenda.
Nobody has said ecowas should not intervene.
They have said use the diplomatic route as against using the military route.
The stakes are different here and we know the world is in a different place.
We can see how the west and Russia are literally showing interest especially with Russia wanting to expand their interest in Africa.

But again.. You guys are beginning to view this as a "I want to win this argument" thing.
Wooh okay

We are not invading it as Nigeria. We are invading it as ECOWAS

The last time i checked, Niger Republic was part of ECOWAS, and one of the commitments of the Community to its member countries is to uphold their constitutional laws and promote and instill peace

If we stop Mr Coupist from pulling this stunt, we would guide them into their next election in 2025, and then Mr Coupist can contest and win easily (shebi his people love him well well? )

But if this guy gets his wish, be ready for another coup before 2024 ends

And oh, they can kiss electing their leaders and democracies goodbye
Lmao..
So when they want to retaliate, they will look at it as ECOWAS?
Incase you are forgetting there are 3 states that border Niger. Meaning the fall out from this ECOWAS invasion will definitely spread into Nigeria.

Also being a part of ECOWAS hasn't done anything coz the gbege Don already sup like this.

I prefer us taking this slow and cripple them economically while holding talks with them.
We are not ready for the blow back at all

You want us to invade a sovereign country with the military backing if the wagna group?
Lol..
Doesn't that tell you that this is about to become a war.
Why are you so confident that our intervention will end it?

BlueRayDick:
Personally I think ECOWAS need to intervene in the Niger issue , but the kind of intervention needed is what needs to be critically examined .

Nigeria and the rest of ECOWAS should not go into Niger gun-blazing with reports emerging that Russia’s Wagner group is backing the coupists. The Wagner group is capable of arming the coupists to repel any military intervention by ECOWAS and the USA . We might have a situation where the Niger crisis may be a continuation of the US-RUSSIA proxy way. Just like everyone had noted , any civil war in Niger will hit us hard security-wise.

Going by videos of Nigeriens jubilating following the capture of power by the coupists, it appears majority of the people are tired of the government of the ousted president .

I believe ECOWAS should dialogue with the coupists probably have them agree to form an Interim national government to fill the gap before the country’s next election where a new president will be elected . A military solution may not be in our best interest in Naija
Exactly oo.
That wagner angle is a serious wahala.
It means that coup was probably backed by Russia and with the way the west has been vibrating since, let us not be dragged into a proxy war with how thinly spread our military is.

Thanks for this break down🙏

If you know the bolded, then anything David typed there wouldn't make any sense.

Well, when a coup happens, the entire economic structure of the country starts to collapse bit by bit

No investor would want to put a nickel into it because there is no guarantee with the words of a coupist. He can be overthrown the next day, so why would i commit much into the country?

Stocks will fall, inflation will rise and then they would begin to jakpa to Nigeria; the same porous border we are managing.

If ECOWAS does not intervene, the NW is Nigeria is toast
Good point now my question is this, how can we intervene?
We don't have the military force to at the very least protect the borders right now and frankly I don't know if we have the military forces to effect a change in Niger.
What is the military force going to look like from ECOWAS?
These are uncertainties and what would the reaction be from the Niger military?

This angle no make sense, bros.

All ECOWAS is saying is that the coupists should follow their own constitutional laws. The moment you give room for a law to be powerless, everyone and anyone would take advantage of it.

So what happens when another coupist tries to overthrow this coupist? Should Nigeria come in then, or take it as another WIN?

Their election is in 2025. Let the coupists form a party and let the majority that loves them prove it then.

Giving room for one coup is just to give room for more.
The problem is people in the country support them.. That's 1
2) they are also a buffer between us and Sudan and our intervention can also lead to civil war in Niger.

The border between us and them is porous as Bleep and we are already spread thin. THIS FOR ME IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE.

3) we don't know the number of international interests in Niger.

Point is which ever way we choose to act, it's still going to present issues.
Which is why I said it's another angle. Whether it makes sense or not is still a possible reality sadly.
