What in your opinion the true value of an Education from the average federal university?

I know if the education isn't subsidized, it def is higher than 20K per year, but I still don't think it's anywhere close to 800K or even 400K, based purely on the value the school delivers.

Bros I have seen that us Nigerians are hypocrital when something doesn't affect us (me inclusive coz I supported fuel subsidy removal hoping that atleast things will be put in place)

We have a rising number of out of school children and the plan is to further make education that's a basic right to be more expensive in secondary school 😁.

At 100k - 200k a year, UNILAG (or other federal unis for that matter) fees still remain heavily subsidised.

Until the fees are raised to about 800k - 1.5 m per session, there is no reason for education bank or a students loan yet.

Government is asking people to pay 20% of the true price of university education and they are crying. What manner of entitlement is that?

Tertiary education is not a human right, It is a choice. Some people leave secondary schools to learn Mechanic and tailoring, where is their own free 700k a year?

The problem in Delta state is that Ibori is by far the best governor we've ever had.

Theres nobody that has gone to Federal Government College that I know that hasn't paid a fee. That it is tuition free doesn't mean you will not pay the other things listed there. Those other things have been increased in price and that is the problem.

Unless information is made available that students are told "you don't have to pay for any of these things if you don't want to.. You can source them outside and that's fine".. Then this is a serious issue and that you don't see the problem in it is your own wahala. I nor fit convince you

Primary and secondary education should be non-negotiable. Personally, i think government should ensure vocational trades (auto mechanic, fashion designers, electricians etc) are formalized and recognized with certificates to incentivize people to take them up. Our current system of over-emphasizing universities is doing more harm than good.

Any policy that puts decent primary and secondary education out of the reach of the poor is a stupid and deleterious policy. Even hyper-capitalist societies like the United States will not dare toe that path.
