“First of all, my criticism of Dangote Refinery has always been about the timing of its delivery and the politics that made them "commission" it in May 2023, nearly 2 years before it was due to be fully operational. That was, and remains an entirely valid criticism.

Every other criticism I offered revolved around concerns of monopoly business practises and potentially turning Nigeria's energy market into a monopoly - which is also a very valid concern. Ideally, one entity should not control the energy market for 200 million people.

However where the choice presented is between a potential domestic energy monopoly and the imposition of eternal energy poverty and import dependence by foreign actors, which side do you think I'm going to pick? You think I'm going to campaign for the continued poverty of my continent for the benefit of some rich white guy, simply because I don't like Dangote?

Furthermore, you think as an educated person, I would EVER want a $20bn project - the largest single investment ever made in West Africa - to fail? What do some of you think this is? Manchester United vs Manchester City?

The same you is now shining teeth that David who once called the refinery a scam rejected money to write something negative about the refinery. As if calling the refinery a scam is a compliment.

The refinery is not ready. Like we said, he is rushing it online early in order to show some cash flows and refinance. I believe it was Gloriousgbola that showed his sulphur content he claimed is a major lamba. What he is producing is of kpofire grade, and is not able to distill further to PMS, only diesel.

I’m not in the mood for lengthy back and forth this afternoon. I will only answer once with an example of the presidential election result in Lagos.

Obi won in Lagos with Atiku on the ballot box . APC has always won Lagos and the bulk of their votes usually come from their political base chief of which is Alimosho.

Guess what ? Obi did not only win in Lagos, but won in the heart of political power in Lagos; Alimosho LGA .

There’s no way u will tell me Atiku would’ve gotten those Obi votes either in Lagos in General or alimosho .There’s no historical data that suggests Atiku or PDP can win in both aforementioned constituencies . I know this because I’ve once lived in Alimosho and I know the political terrain quite well.

States like Delta, Nasarawa, Cross River, Abia, Akwa Ibom, FCT, Anambra, Taraba, Enugu are all states Atiku would have won handily with wide margins.
In states like Benue, Kaduna, Plateau; Atiku would have won outright or be close.

Besides Lagos, how many more states would Tinubu have won if Obi was not on the ticket?

The number of people who vote for Tinubu because of his region of origin will dwarf the number of people who will not for APC after its disastrous 8 years and the number of people who will not for a Muslim-Muslim ticket over a Muslim-Christian ticket.

And it would have been better that you guys voted Tinubu because even if Atiku had lost, it'll make the 2027 rematch way easier.
Because as of today, Obi is still a thorn.

On this thread alone, I can count at least 7-8 people that would not have voted for Atiku if Obi was not contesting. On my whatsapp contact I have a quite a handful too.

It's always amusing the way lapse of time make people triviliaze things and start say " A would not have happened .....blah blah blah...." months after an event.
