It's not a misconception, most White Americans are indeed very ignorant.
I didn't mean what you said was a misconception. I am talking about misconceptions Africans have in general that the white man is Superior. :-)

Trust me, I've lived in the US for most of my life and the vast majority of Americans are just painfully ignorant.
My next topic should be Misconceptions Africans Have About Americans and Europeans.

And to imagine that our African fathers of old thought they were gods to the extent of putting their hands they used to shake Europeans in their pockets for weeks. (How Europe Underdeveloped Africa - Walter Rodney).

Thank God for the World Wars. They were really eye openers for the Black man.

My guess is that you have never travelled out to America or Europe before. Some Americans think that Africa is a country and Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya are cities in the country. LOL! Until you travel out and get to experience the massive ignorance about Africa then you will know.
Very hilarious but sadly true. And they call themselves "enlightened'.

1. That Africa is a country.

2. That we all speak a dialect called African. (Like WTF??)

3. That we have lions, tigers and bears - oh my!

4. That we are all naked and running around with the above. (I wish)

5. That we all have AIDS.

6. And now, that we all have Ebola.

7. That all Africans are acquainted with all other Africans, regardless of country, state or city. Oh wait - #1 comes back to mind.

8. That we live in trees - how would that even work?

9. That we are all BLACK as charcoal with afro type hair. (Have u seen Tonto?)

10. That those of us who no longer live there are so HAPPY to be abroad. (visit Nairaland)

A few things my fellow students said when I was in boarding school in
the USA:

1. "Aren't you supposed to be really skinny with your ribs showing since you're African?"

2. "Don't you have AIDS though?"

3. "Is that mark from when you fought with a lion?" (I'm not kidding)

4. "Do you know my friend Paul? He is from Africa too!"

5. "But you're not really African like those wild people on tv. You're more like us."

Like what? human? Lols.

So Dear Foreigners...
If you know nothing about the African continent. Know that beyond the negative, often inaccurate and incomplete images and stories the media shows - we really are just people, like you.

FamilyParents Should Stop Worrying About These Things! by liveyourlife(op):

Parents worry quite a bit about what others may think when it comes to their home life. This is a hard thing to let go of. There are a lot of things that parents worry about for years because they think that they are things that they should be worrying about.

The Huffington Post compiled a list of things that parents should not be stressing out about through 2015:

1. Continuously picking up toys – Why bother wasting all of your energy picking up their toys when they are just going to throw them back on the floor within a few minutes anyway? Sit and play with them instead until it is time to put them away for the day.

2. The future – Yes, they will be going to
high school and then college, they are going to be pressured by their peers, and they are going to be put in compromising situations. But those are all things that have not happened yet. You can simply prepare them and stop worrying.

3. Matching socks – Who is going to see their feet anyway? Even if they do have two different socks people will think it is cute or whimsical because they are kids.

4. Time – Make sure that you think about the timing of your day and make sure to make time for your family as much as you possibly can.

5. Bre@stfeeding – Some mothers think that they have to avoid formula or milk for as long as possible with their children. When you are done, you are done, don’t worry about it!

6. Messy spaces – Yes, your house may be a mess. But if you ask your child what you did together that day are they going to remember that the house wasn’t perfect? No, they will remember that you were too busy cleaning to play with them.

7. Meals – There are no set times for meals. You can feed them when they are hungry. A schedule is good and if you can keep meals on a regular
schedule that is great, but if you can’t don’t make a big deal about it.

8. Family – When you have to make decisions for your family they are for your family and what is best for them. You shouldn’t be worrying about what your cousins or great aunts are going to think about that decision.

9. Independence – Your child is still dependent on you but give them a little breathing room and let them be independent once in a while.

10. Money – Money troubles affect almost all of us at one point or another. You have to make sure that you aren’t worrying too much about it because you will stress yourself out. Money does not make the world go around.

God how and what do you start teaching kid`s at that tender age.
MY five year old runs out of the bathroom naked and does not even know that there is something that should be hidden undecided
I keep telling her to use a towel or robe. She puts it on but somewhere along the line it is thrown of and she stands there naked again.
I wonder where the world is heading to.
The kids must have been exposed to their parents doing that or to the TV and were playing mum and dad.
How could the teacher anticipate such a thing:
Unfortunately, the school board didn't consider that.

When you send your children to school you are trusting the teacher and other staff members to keep an eye on your children and keep them safe.

A school in New Jersey located in Mullin Township is now being asked “where was the
teacher?” after twokindergarten children were found in a bathroom “having s*x”.

Teacher Kelly Mascio opened the door to a bathroom in the classroom and found a boy and a girl in the closet, naked. She asked what they were doing and they told her that they were having s*x. Hopefully they just thought that
“having s*x” meant just taking off your clothes.

The teacher reported the incident right away. It still begs the question, where was the teacher or a staff member when these two students went into a bathroom and had enough time to get in there and get undressed?

Their class teacher, Mascio has been a teacher for 15 years but she is currently suspended with pay and may even lose her job over the incident. The Board of Education has decided to file charges against the teacher and the police were brought in to investigate as well. They claim that she is supposed to be responsible for the children and this incident may lead parents and members of the school to not be able to trust this teacher again.

Even though this may stem from a lack of supervision on the teacher’s part, is it her fault? Or has she been forced into a classroom with too many children and not help in the classroom? School classroom sizes are getting
bigger and bigger and it is both the students and the teachers that suffer.

Was she in a situation where she couldn’t handle watching so many children at one time? If so, did she ask for any help? Either way a teacher is supposed to be there at all times to know what is going on in the classroom and to know that the children are not harming themselves or others.
