The police on Saturday said they had arrested six (6) members of the notorious Hired Assassins gang responsible for the attack of Senator Dino Melaye at his residence in Kogi state namely;

i. Taofiq Isah ‘M’ 54 years principal suspect (Hon. Chairman Ijumu LGA Kogi State)
ii. Ade Obage ‘M’ 29 years
iii. Abdullahi Isah a.k.a Eko ‘M’ 32 years
iv. Ahmed Ajayi ‘M’ 45 years
v. Michael Bamidele ‘M’ 26 years
vi. Ex- Sgt Ede James ‘M’ 35 years (Orderly to Chairman of ijumu LGA Kogi State at the time of the attack)

Items recovered included one Hyundai Ambulance bus allegedly used in conveying the attackers, five AK 47 rifles, One Beretta pistol and two locally made single barrel shot guns. Others were 25 expended shells of 7.62 mm ammunition, 13 expended shells of 9mm ammunition and 12 expended shells of gauge

Nigerian reggae-dancehall Singer and Songer writer, Damini Oguli better known by his stage name as "Burna Boy", took to twitter to blast bloggers.

He tweeted "If there's really a God then There must be a special place in HELL for bloggers".

In another tweet, he wrote "The ones that make a living off their lies and never see the good in anything. Hell is your destination".

Fans have however reacted to this statement. While some think he's right, others are thanking God that Burna Boy is not God.

The Presidency has responded to the banner headline story in a national newspaper of Wednesday, April 26, entitled: Buhari's Government harassing my family, says Jonathan.

The paper said former President Goodluck Jonathan made the allegation in a new book, "Against The Run of Play", written by the Chairman of ThisDay Editorial Board, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi.

The former president also reportedly disagreed with the style being used by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in fighting corruption.

But in a statement released by President's special adviser, Femi Adesina, the Presidency said that Buhari is only allowing the law to take its course.

The statement reads; "We make bold to state unequivocally that President Buhari harasses nobody; he merely allows the law to take its course. For the umpteenth time, we say that anybody without skeleton in his or her cupboard has nothing to fear about the bared fangs of the anti-corruption initiative. Fear belongs only to those who have abused trust while in office".

"Anybody who feels aggrieved is free to approach the courts to seek redress or justice. President Buhari believes in the rule of law and that is why his campaign against corruption is anchored on that plank.

With regard to President Buhari's anti-graft style, which the former president deprecates, given the scale of revelations and recoveries so far by the anti-corruption agencies, it is obvious that corruption had an uninhibited course during our recent past. In any case, time will give the verdict on whose style of fighting corruption ultimately yielded the most dividends.

For now, President Buhari is resolute and single-minded in the fact that his crusade against graft is not targeted at any individual or group. He firmly believes that national interest must always be placed above personal interest, no matter who is involved"

Hundreds of women on Saturday held a peaceful protest in Aiyetoro-Gbede, Ijumu Local Government of Kogi, over an attempted murder of Senator Dino Melaye, on April 15 at his residence.

The protesters, drawn from the seven local government areas that make up Mr. Melaye’s Kogi West Senatorial District were armed with leaves.

They also carried placards, some of which read "We Kogi west women warn Yahaya Bello, Edward Onoja, Taofiq Isa, touch Dino Melaye and face our wrath”, “Don’t kill Dino Melaye” and “Don’t kill the light, let it shine”.

The issue was dealt with utmost maturity from both parties. I was among the persons that quell it and took Davido to his room . Davido was angry because he Learnt that Ice was accusing him of being responsible for the treatment he was given in Warri. I forsee the trouble coming when Davido was given a Presidential suite wheras Ice Prince was given an Executive Deluxe room in same hotel. It was a predetermined effoert to run Ice down and he only reacted the way any normal human should have done.
