My dear, I don't give room for anybody that feels his/her advise is wat I must follow. There is no competition in parenthood. Do what works for you and helps you maintain your sanity.

For water, I don't have any particular time bt most times I check wen she's thirsty. How I know is that her spit becomes thick so I offer water.

180mls at 3mths is ok. Attached is a feeding guide from aptamil that I follow
Thanks ma

My darling teamie, good to hear from you. Fedora is fine, my love to olaolu.

Sweetie, don't beat urself or feel less of a mother cos of EBF. I'm also doin mixed feeding and dat has been my decision for both babies. There is no medal for EBF! For combination, I feed formula at least 3xs a day. In the morning, after bathtime I give formula so she can sleep for long. Inbetween it's breastfeeding. Around 2-3, I give formula again, inbetween breastfeeding. Around 8-9pm b4 bedtime, I give formula. All tru the night, I do breastfeeding. The important thing is that baby is well fed.
My dear sis I love ur reply exclusive is not a do or die affair. My hubby is a medical doctor and I don't do exclusive pole just over flog did exclusive of a thing. Is as if na me and u dey stay i give formula 3 times a day and breastfeed in between. Pls d only thing I want to clarify is how often should I give water. And also my boy takes like 180ml is too much he is just 3 month.

1. If there is any one using that beautiful boy as a bargaining chip it's the husband. "She has to bring back his child before she can access the funds in their joint account" or so I read.

2. How do you know he's not as bad as she says? She's the one who has been living with him. We don't care about his side of the story here. We aren't here to judge. She is the one who is our own. We know him not.
If she says he's bad, then he is BAD.

3. She's no fool to walk away from ten of years of marriage for no real reason. Imagine another woman in your home. What are you gonna do? Run her bath water, cook and serve her and make your bed for your husband to sleep with her?

It's all boils down to how much you can take. You choose to leave or stay. No one should make that choice for you. Some women don't even consider cheating a deal breaker. 'all men cheat' ' men are polygamous by nature'
They make excuses to stay because of what society would think of them. Some stay because they can't survive alone financially. That's why it is advisable to have your own money.

4. She asked for help. So let's render her help if we can and stop dissecting her marriage. It must have been hard for her to come here in the first place.
You have said it all. I like ur point of view

MamaOO:
I'm not so experienced (my baby is just 6 weeks old) but I can try as much as possible to answer your questions.
First you said when you press your boobies, milk doesn't gush out. Well, truth is milk might not gush out, but you might be Lactating well. I'm a living witness. I've never leaked breastmilk ever. But I tell you, if I use my breastmilk to express milk 4-5 times a day, I get an average of 45oz(1330ml) and my baby only drinks around 28oz per day. I'm even afraid I have oversupply, but I've never leaked breastmilk.

Second, if you're really keen on breastfeeding without supplementing, I will advise you to keep breastfeeding. The more he sucks, the more you produce. You can also try other methods of boosting your supply (Fenugreek, Mother's Milk tea.... etc)

Third, I also have the same problem of baby making your nipples sore. Mine has even tore through my nipples cos he had a crappy latch due to my flat and inverted nipples. I use Medela nipple shield, Medela tender care hydrogel, breastmilk and various methods to cope with the pain and also heal my nipples. Sometimes when I can't cope, I express milk and feed him a bottle, and thankfully because he loves food so much he takes the bottle with no fuss.

Try and get a breast pump to express milk. It helps with boosting your supply and also gives your nipples rest and time to heal. Your baby might also have a shallow latch or not latching on well hence the pain. The biggest culprit is tongue tie. Take him/her to the pediatrician to access if baby is tongue-tied. Don't beat yourself up cos of those issues, breastfeeding is not easy.
The breast pump is the electric or manual how do u managed to pump this much how many oz do u pump per feed pls dont mind my too many question i want to increase my supply as well

If you are exclusively breastfeeding, no water till 6months. ...but if you are using formula, you must give water. There is no special effects for bottle feeding instead of spoon feeding.
Honey is a NO NO for children less than a YEAR please! So it is not ok....

Good eveng mothers. this is my first time here any protocol to be followed?
pls i v a question. my baby is ten weeks already but his first one month i was supplementing my breast milk with NAN 1 cos i wasnt lactating well. after d first mnth i made up my mind dt we are no longer supplementing nd settled with breast milk alone and today we r 10 weeks plus and i still think im not lactating well cos my bby always wants to b put to breast every mins every sec and whenever i press my breast it doesnt gush out like others would another issue is dt my nipple is damn red and painful probably cos of the force he uses to suck and d frequency of d feeding. pls i need help. has anybody experienced this? and plshow can i boost mu breast milk. still doing exclusive despite d pain on my nipple
.

My dear sis is as if u narrated what am going through am so depressed. It all started with my son not latching now he can latch but am battling with sore nipples even now i have a serious wound on my nipple and my boy sucks per second per second. I feel am not producing enough milk. And i seriously want to stop nan.

Interesting view. When I got pregnant, E remain make I use megaphone announce am. Same with when I found out the sex. Some people were cautioning me and I was looking at them as monitoring spirits. cc Tojued. Lansinoh is sold at Medplus and Healthplus pharmacies. Saw it like 2 weeks ago at the mall. In case you can't get that, can you try these tips from KellyMom (it is one of the best resources on Breastfeeding and is recommended by doctors). The authors suggest a saline solution, Lasinoh or pure lanolin and using your own breastmilk to heal the area and airing it. Loistee, I know someone who breastfed with cracked nipples and she said her baby drank like that with the blood!

Thanks ma u are a darling. Kisses from me and my baby to u.

Tojued:
I normally use lansinoh lanolin but I don't know where you can get in naija. I bought on amazon and someone brought back for me.

Kpele. It's very painful but you have no option than to continue breastfeeding. I guess you can use ori or Vaseline instead, but make sure you wash off before feeding baby. The trick is prevent the crack from getting dry or it will get very painful. Rub on immediately after feeding baby.

Try and give the sore nipple a break, feed more from the other side for now while giving the ori or lanolin time to work. E.g feed three times from less painful side before feeding once from painful side. Don't worry about one boob getting bigger than the other for now.
OK thanks a lot.

After washing the bottles, get a plastic bowl that has cover and can accommodate all,I use those transparent bucket like ones, fill it up ,pop one in,and put in the washed item. In fifteen minute time it should be ready.
And the solution can last up to 24 hours in case you want to sterilise more within the time frame.
The direction is also written on the body
Thank u ma I appreciate

I will be an ingrate if I don't share my birth story. I was scheduled for an elective cs on 23rd of auguust due to previous history of myomectomy surger, i was very happy about the date because its my hubby immediate elder sisters birthday. I had an appointment the Friday preceding the day of the surgery which was on Tuesday and I was diagnosed of high bp. The Dr I saw said I will have to be admitted immediately but I declined. because I still had a lot of things to put in place before delivery. I came in for admission on Sunday and d doctors came in for their routine check and they decided that they had to carry out the cs to avoid complications due to the high bp. I was wheeled to the theatre but as God will have it there was no blood in the blood bank. So the surgery was cancelled, the following day another group of doctors came to review me and my bp was still very high so they decided to do the cs but my husband spoke with them to calm down since it was late in the night and the day will soon break so it makes no difference. So they agreed with him because he's also a doctor. D-day came we were 3 to be operated I was the first to go in and God took control the whole procedure was less than an hour. God took control all glory belongs to God .

**********How old is your baby?

I use nan1 too...
And it's 1 scoop to 30ml of water...
2 scoops to 60ml...
3 scoops to 90ml... And so on...

My baby takes 120ml of formula...
That's 4 scoops to 120ml of water...

But I add extra water (about 5-10ml), each time I feed him.. . So, I end up giving him 125-130ml at each feed, and I've had no issues with constipation so far...
I do this EVERYTIME I feed him.. .

He is a week and 5 days
