It is an animation thing. If you can reduce the animations it will be faster.
How do I achieve that please?

Try other keyboards if you aren't okay with gboards animations.
Thanks, I'm actually using SwiftKey and it's a bit better.

wow, i have made up my mind already. 9s is my next phone 6gb ram. The phone is a perfect all rounder in my opinion. How has your experience been so far. Hope u are enjoying every bit of it.
The phone is great all rounder. The only issue I have with it is the slow typing... I don't get the fast typing experience I had with Samsung.

hold power button for 15 secs to force reboot it a number of times, your device is in a phase where it is trying to adapt to the installed update... if it doesn't normalise, you will have to download and flash full rom manually.
I've done that countless times, it's even still heating up as I type this. How do I download and flash full rom?

Hi guys, come to my rescue o..

Ever since I updated my RN9S, the phone has been heating up, it doesn't get hot before regardless of the usage.. Now ordinary to play candy crush without data on, phone heats like it's in a furnace.

Also, it drops 1% in 6 minutes now, as against the 16 minutes it does before.

Is there anything I can do? Suggestions please..

Is it possible to take it back to miui11?

Download Manually with a downloader.
OTA Incremental ROM
https://bigota.d.miui.com/V12.0.1.0.QJWEUXM/miui-blockota-curtana_eea_global-V11.0.4.0.QJWEUXM-V12.0.1.0.QJWEUXM-20eacdfb8a-10.0.zip
After downloading with the link follow the steps below
How to manually update..

Go to Settings > About phone > System update.

If tapping the 3-dot button shows the “Choose update package” option, click on that and choose the downloaded ROM from your internal storage or SD card. In case you don’t find the “Choose update package” option from the 3-dot menu, tap on the MIUI 11 logo inside the “System update” page several times. A prompt will then show that additional updater settings are now available. Now you can tap on Choose update package and select the MIUI 12 update file

That’s it. The system will start decrypting the file and install it automatically for you. Wait for it to finish the process, which may take 10-30 mins

Data should be on during the decryption process
Thank you o

You use EU/EEA ROM (EUXM), Theirs is the global/international ROM (MIXM)
I'm not understanding. Does that mean mine isn't a global version? And is that why I don't get updates?

I've been on this update since August. Look at my security patch level.

When the MiUI 12 Update comes you'll have a larger download to do because you cannot skip these updates. I'd suggest you just update your phone.
please o, why is my MiUI version different o

Nope.

When you install, force restart (Hold power button for 10-15seconds) your phone randomly at least twice.
Okay. I have done this. What next?

You already know the answer. But still download full ROM and manually install.
Downloading. Will this installation reset the phone in any way?

Your network is terrible. I was right but install full ROM first.
Could it be because mtn reception in my area is terrible?

From the signal bars one.

Two go to battery usage stats. Change ranking to details and screenshot.

Nice one.

@Lorbar another thing I failed to mention is sometimes before you go to bed, clear all your recent apps.
Good morning boss. With my recent apps cleared and my phone on airplane, battery still dropped by 9%. The funny thing is I can see apps under the battery stats that I didn't even use yesterday. It's getting worrisome oo..

1. Network
2. Check your data usage, your phone doesn't use data on its own. WhatsApp is a data sucker especially if you are in the habit of open Video Statuses, once you click on one even if you skip it it will still download in the background. If you click images alot on TG you might be unlucky to be clicking full resolution images. TG don't always compress images like WhatsApp does.
3. If you are using a wrong tempered glass, remove it, it might be messing with your proximity sensor.
Thanks for your response. I'm actually guilty of checking WhatsApp statuses, just didn't realize it sucks data. I also think you are right about the tempered glass as the one on it is even covering the front camera. I don't want to leave the screen exposed that's why I'm still managing it pending when I get the protector I ordered for.

You, genius43, are a life saver.

Thanks again.
PhonesRe: The Xiaomi Thread. by Lorbar(f): 7:57am On Sep 02, 2020
Good morning guys,
@genius43, @others.

I have these growing concerns about my RN9S.

1. The battery drops overnight; I charge to 100% at night and by morning it'd have dropped to 96% with data off. Besides that, the overall battery usage is great.

2. The data usage; yesterday I used 869mb and the day before it was over 600mb. I didn't download, normal browsing, WhatsApp, telegram and nairaland. Auto-sync is disabled and I've restricted apps from running in the background yet the phone is still zapping my data.

3. When I dial a number or swipe up to pick a call, the screen goes black or white before the call connects. The phone has never dropped before (I treat like a wine glass) and it's 15days old.

Please, how do I address these issues?

Hi guys. Can someone suggest a good screen protector/seller for my redmi note 9s. The one on it is making my front camera blurry.
