Frankrobbn1: What they meant by official proof of diploma from University of Lagos is that you're ought to send the official copy of your diploma certificate directly from the exams and records of University of Lagos via courier to the school in Canada. However, you scan the unofficial and upload it on your admission portal and explain to them your inability to get the official certificate due to current global pandemic.
By the way, which program are you applying for in Canada and what's the name of the school?
It will end in praise. Thank you for your reply. M.Sc in Biology at University of Ottawa. |

JustMellow: Hello LordAA,
This should be requested from the exams and records department. Its a Confirmation of Degree letter and your Degree Certificate sent directly by your school. If you've fulfilled the official transcript condition then your school can send it using their official email to your prospect school to cut cost, otherwise it should be couriered.
All the best Thank you for your response. |

Hello everyone,
I gained admission and I was asked to submit official proof of diploma in order to complete my admission process. Please how do I do this as I am in possession with my previous certificate already. Anyone with experience about this should kindly assist me.
Thanks.

Frankrobbn1: You can move money from Nigeria to Canada by changing your Naira currency to USD in any of the Bureau De change offices. You can as well as open a Domiciliary account and deposit the required amount in the account while you make the withdrawals/exchange to CAD in Canada. Alternatively, you can request for Personal Travel Allowance (PTA) from your designated bank in Nigeria. The maximum amount allowed for PTA is $4,000.
As stated on IRCC official website, that the Canadian customs regulations require you to declare if you are bringing more than CAN $10,000 into Canada at the point of entry. If you don’t tell them, you may be fined, and your funds could be seized.
These funds could be in the form of:
1-) cash (dollar ----> most preferable). 2-) documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.) 3-) documents that guarantee payment of a set amount of money, which are payable to you (such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders). 4-) Bank Statements.
I hope this helps. Yes Mr. Frank Thank you Nwanne. I'm grateful for your assistance. |

Frankrobbn1: You don't require a Guaranteed Investment certificate (GIC) for the student visa application. This is basically a requirement for study visa applicants from Indian. Thank you so much Frank. Please how can one move money from Nigeria to Canada or show POF at the airport on arrival. |

Naijaforeigner: Chances of getting a visa? No one here can give guarantees, just hope for the best.
Seven years working experience? Try and check if you qualify for Canada PR. Coming into the country as PR is always the best move.
Canada or UK? Post Covid19: Both countries will struggle economically. Canada's study visa is hard/challenging to get and just too many unnecessary documents to submit. You must put in work and prayers.
UK's study visa is quite easy once you have the right documents. The application is very straightforward. I actually think UK study visa is the easiest in the world (my opinion).
The question is what are your long term goals? If your aim is to study, work for 2 years and come back to change Nigeria, Please go to UK.
If your aim is to get PR fast, I will say Canada should be your first choice. The country has flexible immigration laws, so many ways to become a PR and it is a country that takes care of everyone (well, this may also be because of the government in power).
For example, everyone in Canada at the moment (Including International students) that have earned at least 5,000cad and have lost their jobs due to Covid19 are eligible for monthly income of 2000 Cad for up to 4 months. I got paid $2000 yesterday, e do me like film. I was not even making that much in a month doing 20 hours weekly before the whole Covid19 crisis. Some schools in Canada have also set up funds to help students. My school has a 1.5Million cad emergency fund gotten from donors and have asked all students to apply for a 1 time donation of 500 cad. Honestly I have being very impressed.
How do you think students in UK are surviving right now without jobs? Parents who should be their sponsors in Nigeria are locked up at home with businesses locked up? UK International students to the best of my knowledge are not getting any support from government during this crisis. The truth is UK or Canada government owes International students nothing but the Latter chose to help international students regardless.
I have lived in UK and now in Canada. Honestly, I love UK, I love the life (Canada is kind of boring depending on your location) and the British pounds will make you fall in love. I owe a lot to UK.
However, the way the government of Canada has supported me this period of crisis, It has been amazing. I am spending the next 10, 15 years or even forever in this country. God bless UK and God bless Canada. Wow. I'm impressed with the Canadian government. Thank you for this information. |

Please do you know the entry level salary? Thanks
Lol, I was not called, i have even forgotten they exist if not for my senior who works there that still makes me remember them sometimes.
But truth be told, I lost that job because I had no experience at all in my field, when I had my industrial attachment, it was in the banking industry, so that really wrecked me.
I was asked consistently and repeatedly if I have just 2 month in my field, and i said no, my friend really tried to bring me in, the place was not meant for me.[/quote] |
