Omo! We save no more jobs in tech we don't talk about how the interest to code have greatly reduced.

Some years ago, this post would have had lots of interactions.

The barrier getting Into tech as a Nigerian living in Nigeria is now very high. You have to provide Electricity, Data, feeding etc for yourself for you to learn how to code. The pai full aspect is that as long as you do not have someone who will at least take care of your bills for the 6 to 8 months you intend to use for coding classes, you can never achieve your goal.

I think that is pounds.

Naira is really useless. Anyone who cares about their future should be looking into how they can earn in hard currencies, it does not matter if the journey will take years.

This country may never get better.

My brother ... I don't see Nigeria ever getting better.

Tinubu has sacrificed a lot including his comfort to make Nigeria great.
Let's support him, pray for him to succeed. He is our son and in yoruba land we do not throw away our son with the bath water. No matter what he is our son and he must complete his 8 year tenure.

Secondly I want to sound this as a note of warning to all Northerners. Any protest against our illustrious yoruba son will be met with a superior fire power. The Army, Navy, Airforce, DSS are all at alert to take out ur miserable lives if u dare any rubbish against our son. Buhari was there for 8 years u people didn't do shit and u wanna try ur shi with a yoruba man? Nah!

Even if fuel is sold for 5k a litre, it's still the cheapest in Africa.

Let's join hands to support Tinubu!

You're the biggest fool that ever liveth!!
Business / Re: Dangote Refinery Gets 5m Barrels Of Crude Oil From US by lordally(m): 3:58am On Jul 13
shomutuski:

Bro I read on reddit one time how the powers that be brokered a deal to allow dangote build a refinery only if he buys oil from US market, the same powers that prevent Nigeria from achieving its potential in both stream sectors so we always have to export and refine our petroleum products - the worst part is that our founding fathers are in cohorts with this, as long as they get paid.

Destroying the dreams of millions for greed, when the country can become a wakanda sort of in Africa.

The best decision I made was leaving Nigeria and I would never return because it pains me so so much how our potential is been wasted, like literally you need to come out here to see basic shiii that our leaders deprive of us. F5ck!!!!!

Wow that's nice! I thought you were based in 9ja?

Sponsorship cost serious money for the employer. I have explained this before. Almost £14,000 except Care CoS which is not easy too because the demand for it is very high

Is care COS free?

So, why are employers not open to offering sponsorship alongside the job offer? Why is sponsorship hard to issue or obtain? If it is the salary requirement, then it means the would-be employees don't have what it takes to be recruited for such positions.

So many of these employers just want to employ you and you just start working simple. Lots of them don't have the time to stress on any extra stuffs with visa matter. So I think , for them to wanna go the extra length, the employee would likely be one with ample years of experience

An eye-opener post from my leader.

I find it very interesting because over here, there are PLENTIFUL tech jobs, and way more if one knows Japanese. Companies here aren't open to employing newbies or those with less than four years of experience from outside the country. However, for those inside with resident status, the process is straightforward. As I wrote in your Memoirs from Chile, the Nigerian dude who graduated a year ahead of me got four offers. He requested a salary increment in the first and got it. Then he asked for another increment, but was declined. He refused the offer. The other offer had his resumption date to be the same month as the Japanese staff and they were egging him on to accept till he nailed his current place of work offer with an equivalent salary of $5K per month. When I visited him earlier this year, I met his Kenyan and Ivorien colleagues. There are many black Africans in the industry. Tech jobs no be problem for here. The koko is: you sabi leetcode? If yes, good. Can you speak Japanese? Brilliant! This opens more opportunities.

So, I am surprised by the crises in the UK as exemplified by Aphrodite007 who coincidentally is an executive recruiter.

All the same, well done. I am loyal to your gofment🙌🏿

The crisis in UK is not rocket science. The issue is getting a job that will sponsor your stay. That's the main issue. So people might get a tech job but without Sponsorship

Our problem is that Nigerian come here with the mindset of being the next big boy or big girl. But it takes work and time. I've been living here for 3yrs now, I can categorically tell you, it gets easier. However not in the way you expect it. You discover that jobs abound but only for people who have experience and can prove it. Care work isn't the place with Haven for students. Lots of other jobs are there undiscovered. Life is fast paced however you do get a breather when you go on holiday or on one. It is one hell of a place where efforts count and not nepotism

Honestly bro, as you wrote, it only gets easier. The more time you spend, the more you get to learn ways on how to navigate this place. I remember your story of when you first landed here...omo I keep laughing when I remember it and tell my friends about it, it's so funny.

Once you put in the work here, you'll get the proceeds of your labour.
I can't just wait to be done with school and then explore the various opportunities available

Super amazing! But now, how will you view your life and standard of living generally since you left Nigeria compare to when your were in Nigeria?

My life and standard of living generally is way way way much better than I was in Nigeria. There is sanity here. And sometimes, I walk home around 2am or 3am and I'm not scared of anyone robbing me.

Life as a student isn't easy here because we all know how we got here. So assuming I came here as a student who has paid all his/her tuition or on a work visa, I would have had more pleasurable experiences. Life as a student is stressful and tough. But that's the price to pay for immigration because you will definitely have to learn the ropes of your new society.

I'm doing a 1yr MSC program, so I just know that I'll go through some tough times for just 1yr and then after that... I can only go upward from there.

People tend to judge UK from the lenses of students who struggled to come here for studies. Because we tend to be the loudest. People who come here on a work visa don't make noise. UK has it's down sides but it's been a blessing to me even as a student. Then how much more if I came here on a work visa! As a student, I have been able to take care of my dad's medical bills...and this was something I couldn't do when I was in Nigeria.

When I hear @Tensazangetsu20 lambast the UK lol, I just laugh. He's always been a UK critic so I expect that from him sha. UK is good if you're willing to put in the work and if you come here with an open mind to relearn the job market because its different from 9ja.

Cameroon's local rice farmers will be very grateful to help boost our food, fruits and rice security....

This doesn't need rocket science.

Peg the Naira not only doing price control of market items.

Partner with Power company, ENEO in Cameroon to give us cheap, portable meters which even students can afford( it's not more than 5,000-9000frs), we are even more in population to still make profit, also to help boost power supply..... No time to be doing big brother when nothing is working in Nigeria.

Right now, Biya is doing BETTER than Nigeria.... Interstate travel in Nigeria is at least X2.5 .... Terrible.

I have to admit, I never regret following you here on Nairaland. You're so smart, well informed and intelligent. I always look forward to your post.

I got into Nysc in 2018. And in that period I was very active in the Japa thread on Nairaland. Anywhere I see a new Japa thread you go see my for there. In 2019 I applied for one Entry the Finland Government was doing. I can't remember what it was at the time but it was something that had to do with the Happiness of Finland and in respect to that, they wanted to bring people from other countries to come and stay in Finland for I think 2 weeks...all expenses paid! All that was required for you to do was to upload a video of yourself, telling them why you should be selected and all that.

Omo, with my Itel P32 phone I went out to and open field , just opposite the place i was serving and did the video, said all the things I had in mind and then uploaded it. And hoped I would be selected. Then I went on to read about Finland and other ways to Japa to Finland. As expected grin , I wasn't selected, but then it gave me the interest of knowing more about Finland and how to Japa there.
