WHO ELSE IF NOT GOD? (by Esther Adebayo) It is not easy for a man to set a standard for a long while and still keep building on it. He would soon allow those principles to be removed little by little if he wasn't sent/even disciplined. One thing I've learnt from the life of daddy Kumuyi is the decision to serve God first, and God honouring you. Dear father, you deserve all celebration because you have submitted your all to God. You have consecrated your life on the altar, you have given Christ your all, and you have died. I thank God for the Life of a great man of God. W- Watchman of the Most High I- Intelligent man in the business of God. L- Lover of God L- Lover of Faith I- Intentional in doing the business of God A- Ardent reader of the word M- Man of the true word and not of the world S- Sanctified beliver F- Father to many true believers O- Optimistic in face of discouragement L- Leader with Humility O- Observant to the things of the spirit R- Reader of truth U- Unction filled man N- Never bending to the world S- Soilder of Christ H- Holiness is always his watchward O- Organized man of God K- Kingdom Centered being U- Undiluted word of God is his stand M- Mathematician even in the Gospel of truth U- Understanding of the word is his dealings Y- Yielding to the world and not the world I- Independently doing God's bidding no matter the discouragement. Dear father, I celebrate Christ in you, your courage, your resilience and your love for God. I ask for more of God's grace, wisdom, direction, knowledge and understanding upon you. May you never lose guidance from God and may we all meet in Heaven on the last day. Amen. Happy birthday to a father, grow in greater measure, father. 82 no be beans.🥰 Cheers! There is a video and commentary going on on the social media that Pastor W. F. Kumuyi has recanted his earlier doctrine on dressing by women in the church after years of misleading the womenfolk. Many of my professional colleagues including a friend, Sunny Igboanugo, have, on the basis of this, launched unwarranted attacks on the personality of the man of God. But I am very afraid of the way they have heavily descended rudely on Kumuyi in a matter many of the critics know little about! My fear emanates from my knowledge of the scriptures that says: Touch not my anointed, and do my prophet no harm. Though neither the church nor Pastor Kumuyi has mandated me to defend them on this issue, I, as a member of the church, who have privileged information, think I should correct the wrong antagonistic view. Some of the contentions are that Kumuyi has for years deliberately misled his congregation on things like exposure to knowledge through the watching of TV set; and that he imposed a shabby dress code on the church members, especially the womenfolk. The latest uproar is about a purported message by the pastor to the Ekiti Deeper Christian Life congregation of his church, based on 1Corn 11: 5-6 that says women should only cover their heads in the church when they are praying or prophesying. To start with, there was never a time Kumuyi “unbanned TV” in Deeper Christian Life Ministry, as it is being claimed by some of the critics. Yes, at the early life of the church, possession of TV set and watching of it were frowned upon, because of the bad moral standards many of the TV programmes of that period “preached.” The world, through ICT, had since moved away from that era to something better: where ICT tools have become powerful instruments in expanding the frontiers of knowledge and advancement! It isn’t that there are no more negative aspects of that development, but the good seems to have outweighed the evil! Even in the Deeper Christian Life Bible Church/ministry today, ICT has become a powerful tool of evangelism, though every mature adult should know when to apply the brakes! On the position of 1 Corinthians 11: 5-6 that warranted this latest tirade, it is not a new doctrine in the Deeper Christian Life Ministry. It’s part of the 22 doctrines of the Holy Bible, which the church believes in and has taught since its establishment in 1973 or so. What does it say? 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved. 6 For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. Logically, to many people either in Deeper Life or somewhere else, since most of the time, the church is where people pray and prophesy, there is tendency to believe that a woman must cover her head once they are in a church. But what the two verses of 1 Corinthians 11: 5-6 quoted above say is that it is only during prayer and prophecy that a woman should cover her head. That the pastor or the church in a recent message to the Ekiti church reinforced or provided an explanation on it doesn’t make it a new message; or redefining or preaching a new message. Far from it. It’s neither a new doctrine nor modifying an old one. The Bible itself warns the Galatian Church who were so removed from the doctrine of the Bible to another doctrine that there was grave danger in that. The Deeper Life Bible Church, if you know, is an assembly of many people: some highly educated, some barely educated; many not too educated; some wealthy, many not too wealthy in naira and kobo. So, not all of us are at the same educational and spiritual levels. That is why the pastor or any pastor in any assembly has to keep on teaching, reinforcing and explaining the doctrines over and over again! More so, when there’s the likelihood that new people come into the church to worship on every service day. There’s a general phenomenon in life: many people listen to what their pastor say. They don’t listen tIo what he doesn’t say. This is common in every church. This often brings confusion and strife. In fact, a popular Nigerian pastor once said that his congregation should not only listen to what he said, but to also listen to what he didn’t say, in order to have a balanced message! Take for example, the statement of our Lord Jesus Christ in Mark 16: 17-18: 17 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly thing, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” That’s the teaching of Christ. The Bible preaches it, and every pastor or child of God preaches it. But it will be absurd or the height of stupidity for a believer to see a snake on the field and run after it to take it up, based on what it’s written in Mark 16: 17-18. It is also the extremity of ignorance to deliberately drink poison, because the Bible has said it will not hurt us. Some years ago, a so-called prophet deliberately threw himself into the lion’s den, at the UI Zoological Gardens, based on the event in the book of Daniel when Nebuchadnezzar, out of envy and wickedness, threw Daniel into the lion’s den. God expects believers to use their God-given wisdom in applying His word. There’s a purpose God gave you intelligence or wisdom. Please use it. The Kumuyi I knew in the 70’s is still the same Kumuyi today, and if God delays his coming, it will be the same Kumuyi tomorrow! He has not changed. It is his critics that do not understand him, and therefore change every time https://www.primebusiness.africa/kumuyi-preacher-widely-misunderstood-by-non-adherents/

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has apologised after video emerged appearing to show him breaking a fan's phone. Footage was shared on social media alongside comments claiming he smashed the device as he left the pitch after his side's 1-0 loss at Everton. Ronaldo, 37, later took to social media to say sorry. "It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing," he said. The result damaged United's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League and came against an Everton side that had been one point above the relegation zone before kick-off. "Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game," the Portuguese added. "I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship." Manchester United said they were aware of "an alleged incident after today's game at Everton and the club will co-operate with any police inquiries". https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/61053927

Two stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State were on Tuesday evening gruesomely murdered during the invasion and attack of the party’s meeting in Enugu South LGA by gunmen. The gunmen also abducted another chieftain of the party while others sustained bullet wounds. The Nation learnt the deceased and others were having a reconciliation meeting at the party office at Ward III Obeagu Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area when the gunmen struck. Numbering over seven, the gunmen were said to have stormed the venue of the meeting, killing the two instantly while whisking away one other person. The incident, it was gathered, had thrown the state chapter of the APC into mourning. A source at the meeting told newsmen that the meeting was called to reconcile the two factions of the party in the ward as part of the ongoing efforts to unite all members of the party in the State. “The meeting was underway when these men invaded the place and shot and killed the immediate past Enugu South local government chairman of the party. “Ezeoha was also elected as the incumbent state youth leader in one of the factions of the party. One other person I don’t know his name was equally killed instantly. “Hon. Monday Ogbonna (Okwadike), a factional chairman of the party in our area was kidnapped. “One person is lying critically wounded at the hospital and we don’t know his fate,” the source said. Efforts to speak with Enugu Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe on the development were unsuccessful as his phone line was not reachable. https://thenationonlineng.net/just-in-gunmen-invade-enugu-apc-meeting-kill-two-chieftains-abduct-one/

Ambazonian activist, Ayaba Cho Lucas, has asked the Nigerian government to free Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader is facing trial before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja. On Tuesday, Kanu refused to take plea in the 15 counts terrorism charges instituted by the federal government. The authorities filed fresh charges on Monday, a development Kanu’s lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome, opposed. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria accused the government of breaching the principle of fair hearing with the manner the new counts were brought forward. Ozekhome said the action was sixth in the series and that the defence needed time to study and prepare. Reacting to the legal battle, Ayaba described Kanu as “Biafra and Africa’s gift” and called for his release. “Nigeria’s Price. Biafra and Africa’s gift. This Generation will not Blink until all the systems of curtailment and anarchy are dismantled and buried in the dustbin of history. Free this man”, he tweeted. The ex-Southern Cameroons Youth League Secretary-General currently leads the Ambazonia Governing Council. In 2017, Ambazonia also known as Amba Land, was self-declared as a state in West Africa constituting the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon. https://dailypost.ng/2022/01/18/biafra-nigeria-should-free-africas-gift-nnamdi-kanu-ambazonian-leader-ayaba/?amp=1

Ghana suffered a humiliating group-stage exit at the Africa Cup of Nations after the four-time champions were beaten by debutants Comoros. El Fardou Ben Nabouhane put the islanders ahead early on, and Ghana then went down to 10 men when Andre Ayew was shown a straight red card. Ahmed Mogni doubled the lead before the Black Stars fought back to make it 2-2. However, Mogni tapped in his second in the 85th minute to inflict Ghana's first group-stage exit since 2006. The result in Group C will go down as one of the biggest shocks in Nations Cup history as Comoros scored at the finals for the first time and then went on to record their maiden victory. Incredibly, the side ranked 132nd in the world now have a chance to reach the knockout stages as one of four best-ranked third-placed sides. The tiny island nation with just under a million inhabitants - and more famous for its history of political coups than its football - had only won its first Nations Cup or World Cup qualifier in 2016 at the 20th attempt. Ghana had put in disjointed displays in their first two games, a 1-0 defeat by Morocco and a niggly 1-1 draw with Gabon, and finish bottom of the group table despite putting in a spirited display following Ayew's 25th-minute sending off. Their fans in the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua looked stunned at the full-time whistle, being left to contemplate a rollercoaster second half which ended their bid for a first Nations Cup title since 1982. Their exit in Cameroon will increase the pressure on coach Milovan Rajevac, who returned for a second spell in charge in September. The Serb led the Black Stars to the Nations Cup final in 2010 and the World Cup quarter-finals the same year, and guided the West Africans through to Africa's play-offs for this year's World Cup. However, Ghana only won their qualifying group ahead of South Africa on goals scored and are unseeded for the play-off draw - where they will face one of Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Nigeria for a place in Qatar. Comoros, meanwhile, celebrated their three points heartily and now await the final round of matches in the remaining three groups to see if their stunning victory can extend their stay at the tournament. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/59947164

Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been charged with a further count of rape. The French international, of Prestbury in Cheshire, is now accused of seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to five women. The 27-year-old was charged last week with the latest offence but it was subject to reporting restrictions. These restrictions were lifted earlier as Mr Mendy appeared at Chester Crown Court for a hearing ahead of his trial. The latest charge relates to a new complainant and is alleged to have taken place in July this year. The earlier charges are alleged to have happened between October 2020 and August 2021. The footballer, who has been in custody since his arrest in August, appeared alongside his co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 40, of Eccles in Greater Manchester. Mr Matturie is accused of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Both men were remanded into custody at HMP Altcourse in Liverpool after the 40-minute hearing. Their trial, which was scheduled for January, was also put back to later in the year. Mr Mendy has played for last season's Premier League champions Manchester City since 2017, when he joined from Monaco for a reported £52m Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-manchester-59754899

The story was by a friend on the 18th of February, 2017... Actually, it happened this morning. 12:58 am. I have never witnessed a thing like that before. I only saw such in Nollywood movies. I was not fast asleep. But I was hearing the first set of gentle knocks on my door in my dreams. Kpam Kpam Kpam Kpam, Daniel o...repeatedly. Later I would deem whoever was knocking that way as unserious. How could such knocks wake me up? But I have just slept off an hour before then. So I was woken up immediately the knock got louder. I rushed out, hearing the cries for help. She was already in labour---my neighbour. My God! I saw the baby's head pushing itself out of my neighbour's privates. She was fast losing blood, as they kept flowing uncontrollably. As if that was not enough a strange sight for me, I saw that white, long thing they call umbilical cord. Damn it! That was actually when the baby had completely come out. Chai. Poor child. Crying. We didn't know what to do. I was clueless. Her friend---a young lady---was clueless too. There was no other neighbour available. And it was already 01:05 am. But that my neighbour, ba? She was a strong woman. She kept reassuring her panic-stricken friend to stop shouting, re affirming that she'd be fine. She was even the one that suggested we go to a nearby hospital. Olodo like me, I couldn't even think of any meaningful thing to do. My head was full. But she was strong. We carried her down to my car, carrying the baby alongside, careful not to draw the umbilical cord too apart from her. Chai. Blood. She lost a lot of blood. I gently drove us to a nearby hospital. The staff responded quickly. The cord was cut while she was still in the car. The baby survived. The mother survived too. I went back home later and got them some clothes, and tea, milk, bread and hot water for the mother. This is what I call miracle. Not turning water into wine. In this part of the world, we say "Thank God" for even things we can do ourselves. So for the first time in my life, I'll do this, because I am overwhelmed: Thank God for my neighbour's strong resolve in the face of hysteria; Thank God for the mechanic guy that didn't tell me stories yesterday, but promptly worked on the car's fan belt, making the car available; Thank God for the staff of Divine Mercy Hospital and Maternity, Orba road, Nsukka, especially the gate man, for their immediate response to our call for help; And finally, thank God for giving us humans all that we need to survive the pestilence and pains He also created on earth, for surely He created all things. Amen! I learnt a few things: 1. A pregnant woman shouldn't be left alone. I used to say I'd run out of home when my wife gets heavy, to avoid a pregnant woman's wahala. Dear future wife, I have changed my mind. I now understand what you women go through. I'll be there, through it all. No business trips. No conferences or seminar. In fact no work for me. I'll be there. We will do it together. After all, we had sex together (whatever that means). 2. I think one should always have fuel in one's car. Anything can happen any time. And no petrol station might be available at that time. 3. Do not overlook the importance of neighbourliness. And if your neighbour is one who hardly responds to knocks on his/her door (like my former useless neighbour), declare such a neighbour as useless to humanity. Finally, women, please accept the assurances of my ernest respect for your natural abilities. Truly, there's more to your privates than just sexual activity. PS: the head nurse said I'd make a good father, because of the way I was in charge. Is that true? I mean, why not? grin emoticon ![]() |

Why such an exhortation? Because the women were disturbing the church service by asking questions of their husbands during the preaching…Hence their questions produced an undertone of noise which was confusing to an audience. No wonder Paul corrected them. So we see that the Apostle is not dealing with the subject of women preaching, but with discipline. He is simply correcting disorder. |
Good for him and for the game |
shukudi:Thank you for this. Someone will just wake up and type nonsense claiming that churches don't pay tax. Churches have contributed a lot to the development of this Nation. Adeboye personally visits prisons, give gifts to them and provide drugs for the sick ones. No pastor forced any of their members to give to the churches, so why are some people grumbling about how rich pastors are. Catholic church members are here criticizing penticostals pastors that they are too rich, Father Mabaka owns one of the biggest water factory in Enugu, He also produces yougort that sells almost everywhere in the southEast (Aqua Rapha), did he get the money for this business from the sun? If the pope stays in Nigeria I know it will be catholic members that will be protesting about the FRC rule. Lets call a spade a spade! |
