Family / Do Not Hold Back Discipline by Lordemma(m): 4:19pm On Nov 13, 2017
DO NOT HOLD BACK DISCIPLINE
==========================

As parents, it is important that you let your child know that actions have consequences. Let them know the principle that you will reap what you sow. Discipline comes with being consistent.

When you have made it clear to your child that a certain wrong act will bring a particular consequence, you must follow through. In this way, the child cannot be able to manipulate situations according to his liking.

At the beginning, you should make the rules very clear to the children and be firm about it. When this is done, children are less likely to resist if they know the rules and what will happen if they break those rules.

However, when a child goes against the rule, discipline should not be meted on anger nor should it be brutal or abusive. But it has to be effective.

NOTE: Join our Facebook group to stay updated and get daily tips that will help you train your child right, double his intelligent, and help him to become super-successful in life!

Politics / BREAKING: Adaka Boro Avengers Lashed Out At NDA, Join Biafra For Independence by Lordemma(m): 5:36pm On Aug 22, 2016
Edmos Ayayeibo, the spokesperson of the group, said in a statement that it rejects any form of negotiation with the federal government.

The statement reads: “There is no going back this time round.” “We the Adaka Boro Avengers are throwing our weight behind the Niger Delta Avengers on the declaration of Niger Delta Republic come October 1.

Our earlier abortion of the declaration was at the instance of the Niger Delta Republic. This time round, there’s no going back and Nigerians should expect a different country call Niger Delta Republic.

“Arrangements have been concluded for the declaration. The people of the Niger Delta region are tired of President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC misrule, and we have decided to go and no one can stop us.

“The matter at hand is more than any police force or military personnels.”

“We’re also using this medium to call on our neighbours, Biafrans to use this opportunity to achieve their dream because all arrangements have been concluded for the success.

We are also using this opportunity to tell the Federal government of Nigeria that we ADAKA BORO AVENGERS are not ready for any form of dialogue.

“Two weeks from today the Nigerian nation will hear our live broadcast from our radio station, the Niger Delta radio station, which will continue broadcast until the October 1 declaration.

October 1, is a day we have set aside for history to be made in the world. So the Nigerian government should not try to stop us, because if they do, heads will roll and still history will be made.

“So, we are not afraid of anyone, police or military personnels, because our foreign backers are currently fighting with so many countries in the world without fear.

“Lastly, the whole nation will be destabilised. What the Niger Delta leaders should do now is to call their people in other states to return home immediately. Only restructuring of Nigerian nation will stop our October 1 declaration.”

Politics / To Stamp Out Militancy, Navy Make Drastic Move by Lordemma(m): 12:36pm On Aug 18, 2016
Navy Launches 39 Boats That Could Access The Hideouts Of Militants

On Wednesday, 17th of August, a launch was organized which was held at the Nigerian Navy Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In the launch, Mohammad Dan-Ali, the Minister of Defence , noted that the procurement of the boats came at a better time, following the emerging security challenges in the country, especially in the Niger Delta region, which he said had great consequences on the polity.

Out of the newly procured boats, 30 Espenal boats, were constructed locally while nine others, Wave Rider/Arrow boats were acquired from Sri Lanka.

Danjuma Sheni, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, representing the minister said “These challenges have continued to demand a great deal of human and material resources to surmount, which in the light of dwindling revenue would be sustainable only with generous innovations and incorporation of home grown solutions”.

He commended the Navy for rising to the challenges, following its decision to look inward and contracted local ship vendors for the provision of platforms that would help in tackling the challenges.

He recalled that an earlier local construction of 30 Epenal boats which were used by the Navy to patrol the Niger Delta area, informed the decision to construct additional 50 boats.

He added that out of the 50, 30 were launched yesterday, Wednesday, August 17th with the rest to be delivered soon.

However, in an earlier news, the Nigerian Airforce(NAF), resumed the aerial bombing of hideouts of the vandals in the Ogun state axis of Arepo.

The operation commenced with the Augusta Helicopter which struck some vandal’s locations.

Politics / Buhari’s Order To Explore North-East Not A Bad Idea – Afenifere by Lordemma(m): 12:01am On Aug 17, 2016
Sehinde Arogbofa, the Secretary-General of the association, said it would be part of the restructuring which the association had been clamoring for.

He said, “There is nothing wrong if they find oil in the north. That is why we are calling for restructuring, if that is his ( Buhari) own restructuring agenda, it is okay.

We already have oil in the south and if he orders for prospect for oil in the north, there is nothing wrong in that.

“If that is what will hasten the restructuring of the country, he should go ahead. All we saying is that the country must be restructured .”

“We have said that any state that has oil should work on its oil and let other states without oil find their own natural resources to work on.

God has endowed every state in this country with natural resources so let every state go and do something on them, the only thing is that the Federal Government should assist in taking off.”

“If it is NNPC that was given the assignment, let them go ahead, there is nothing wrong with it but if it is the foreign firm I can say may be there is a hidden agenda somewhere.”

Politics / Ugborodo Community Lays A Fresh Siege In Chevron by Lordemma(m): 1:12pm On Aug 15, 2016
–Ugborodo community lays siege to Chevron’s facility

–Chevron chooses to remain adamant

The dispute which started since last week Tuesday between the people of Ugborodo and Chevron Nigeria Limited(CNL) with the villagers laying siege to the company’s facility in Escravos has not been resolved; rather, it escalated in the morning of Monday, August 15th.

As early as 6.00am, today, Monday, 15th of August, a section of the community surrounded the main entrance to CNL office in Warri.
They said the company has chosen to remain adamant since the protest, but the march on CNL, Warri, has nothing to do with the meeting convened by the state government today, Monday, 15th of August at Asaba to look into squabble over the management of the community’s affairs.

The fresh siege that was carried out by the villagers was confirmed by Collins Edema, the National President of the National Association of Itsekiri Graduates(NAIG).

He said the villagers were still occupying the Tank Farm at Ugborodo and would remain there until the appropriate authorities address the contending issues.

Collins Edema, Esimaje Awani, the president of the Itsekiri National Youth Council,Oritseweyinmi Agbonnekuya Aginejuone, chairman of Omadino community and Jemine Ejegi, president, Movement for the Protection of Iwere Homeland Development and History and Itsekiri HOSTCOM (Youth wing), were set to steer the protest against CNL in Warri.

Politics / MEND Says Nnamdi Kanu Accepted To Renounce Biafra In Secret by Lordemma(m): 12:51pm On Aug 15, 2016
–Kanu agreed in secret to renounce ‘Biafra’ in exchange for his freedom
–MEND and the Federal Government flatly rejected the IPOB/Kanu’s hypocrisy
–MEND urges Kanu and IPOB to swallow their pride

Today, Monday, August 15th, Nnamdi Kanu the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) was taken to the cleaners by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta(MEND) saying that Kanu agreed in secret to renounce ‘Biafra’ in exchange for freedom, only to act hypocritically in public after sealing discussion with MEND on the matter.

Meanwhile, in a rancorous statement, Jomo Gbomo, the spokesperson of MEND said: “The attention of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has been drawn to the recent spate of hypocritical and provocative statements issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.”

The group also said that Kanu’s statement “purport to dissociate IPOB/Kanu from some of the concessions, which have so far been secured by MEND in the ongoing talks aimed at resolving the current Niger Delta crisis between the Federal Government and MEND.”
“MEND hereby uses this opportunity to inform the entire world that following the group’s ongoing negotiations with the Federal Government, Nnamdi Kanu has made it clear that he is willing to renounce “Biafra” in secret; in exchange for his freedom.”

“MEND and the Federal Government have, however, flatly rejected the IPOB/Kanu hypocrisy to remain defiant in public; while accepting to secretly renounce secession.

However, the group argued that the public denunciation by Kanu was important so as not to continue deceiving the gullible donors and followers sold to the illusion of a ‘Biafra Republic’ that aims to annex the Niger Delta region as part of its territory.

The statement also said that “MEND, therefore, urges the already frustrated and desperate Mr. Kanu and IPOB to swallow their pride and make a public denunciation of ‘Biafra.’”

It also said there was need for the donors and followers to “become fully aware that the so-called ‘Biafra Republic’ is merely a business venture and scam whose sole beneficiaries are Kanu, directors of IPOB and their families and cronies.”

Career / 5 Most Popular Jobs In The Oil And Gas Industry by Lordemma(m): 11:16pm On Aug 13, 2016
The Nigerian oil and gas industry is one sector that attracts the finest brains in the land.

Due to the unique nature of the industry and indeed the very attractive remunerations that oil and gas companies are known for, many professionals troop in to the sector to put their skills to use.

The industry has so many specialised types of jobs and services rendered by employees and these are the people, who ensure that oil and gas exploration and production activities are ongoing round the clock.

These jobs are not necessarily the ‘finest’ around because of the hard work and energy involved, but they are the ones that make the oil and gas industry tick.

Nawhere.ng lists 5 most popular and demanding jobs in Nigeria’s most lucrative industry.

Read below:

Pipeline engineers:

Their job is majorly to design and maintain subsea pipeline in offshore fields. They also ensure oil is produced at optimum level from oil wells. They also oversee engineering design organization and are conversant with oil and gas pipeline design codes and standards.

Subsea engineers:

They design, implement and maintain structures, tools and equipment used in underwater components of offshore oil and gas production.

They also participate in the definition and development of statement of requirements for subsea umbilical and control systems, from early development stage of project through execution phase.

Geologists and Geophysicists:

Their job is majorly to find, study and eventually help develop mineral, geothermal and oil and gas deposits. They spend more time in laboratories, where they analyse samples and use computer models.

They are also heavily involved in the exploration for oil and also in the initial stages after oil discovery.

Production Engineer:

Their job is to analyse, develop and optimize the performance of individual wells, and design connections between the reservoir and the well.

They also evaluate the effectiveness of methods that increase the flow of water, gas and oil, and develop surface equipment systems to separate those substances.

Marine specialists:

They can be found in offshore oil and gas operations. This is because of the constant use of marine vessels and boats for supply and transportation of crude oil, liquefied gas, food, equipment, etc.

They also maintain vessel stability on the sea. They are generally seen as very critical in the oil and gas industry

The ones that do serious business are the ones older in the oil stream sector with bigger pay.
And for your information, they rather invest than do real business.
Sharpening your business skills now as a young vibrant lad might even make them come to you finally for consultancy on the way to make profits with their huge investments.
Yimu,
nobody is perfect or has it all.
Even Dangote relies heavily on business managers with die-hard experience and he is even richer than them.
He needs them badly or else his brand/investment would fall.
Money without business acumen and skill is still a waste.
Make yourself enviable with what you giveout to companies and watch giants bow to you.
Nobody has it all.
Where your strength stops, is where another man's strength begins.
Understand?

Even school teachers still have others business they do not to talk of Oil workers. You can be a worker and a business man at the same time. It all depends on you. If they don't have the time, at least they have wife and children that can run the business

Smart Nigerians Now Convert Drainage Water To Black Oil
Creative Nigerians have resorted to converting industrial wastes to asphalt/bitumen in Sari Iganmu area of Lagos state following their quest for daily bread.

The industrial waste is a constant stream of different chemicals, discharged by several companies around the locality.

These wastes, some of which are soluble in water, are conveyed through different drainage channels to meet at a considerably deep spot where they swirl and react.

It is from this spot that people scoop some streaming chemicals which they mix with diesel and a few other components in a seemingly even proportion, and then turn them vigorously until it becomes black, thick and sticky.

Our reporter who witnessed the process confirmed that the mixture which appears transparent at first undergoes speedy changes in colour and texture during the turning as a result of chemical reaction.

One of the people who simply gave his name as Musa told Nawhere.ng that 25kg of their black oil sells for N1,800.

He said that they sell mainly to local road contractors.

In his words: “the black oil is not well priced, considering that we spend money to process them.

“We sell to whomever that wants to buy but the people we can call costumers are local road contractors. They use it as bitumen to create asphalt concrete. The bigger construction companies don’t see us.

“25 litres sell for N1,800, but occasionally, we find people who pay more. The business doesn’t really pay as people think but it is better than doing nothing.” He said.

Politics / Fuel Scarcity Looms As NPA, NNPC Disagree Over N6bn Debt by Lordemma(m): 10:50am On Aug 13, 2016
–Vessels laden under NNPC stranded on sea

–NPA insists on collecting payments in dollars

Nigerians face a fresh round of fuel scarcity as the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is restraining berthing of ships contracted by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) over a contentious N6 billion debt.

According to Saturday Sun’s report, a top NPA official said that the NNPC’s debt would have towered above the said amount if NPA had not granted the national oil company about 30 per cent rebate.

It was gathered that under an NNPC’s contract, some vessels laden with petroleum products are ‘stranded’ on the high seas.

Saturday Sun also reports that one of the affected vessels belongs to a shipping company owned by a former National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A source said: “The company owes the NPA a whopping $2 million. That money can help us achieve a lot. It’s not good to enjoy services and not pay for them”.

The NPA was also insisting on collecting its payments in dollars as against being paid in naira at any exchange rate which is not certain due to fluctuations in the foreign exchange market.

“Vessels owned by the PDP chieftain’s company and other ships laden with premium motor spirit are presently seeking berthing space at the Capital Oil Jetty in Ibafon Lagos. But we need to get our money. We’re not a charity organisation”, the source added.

The NPA official said he was aware that its insistence on collecting the monies before the vessels discharge may lead to fuel scarcity, but said it appears that is likely to spur the national oil giant to pay up.

The Hadiza Bala Usman-led NPA had repeatedly said it would not treat the issue of debts gently.

The new management team has commenced the recovery of debt aimed at addressing chains of indebtedness spanning between one to 10 years as their moves indicate.

Earlier on Thursday, August 11th, Hadiza Bala Usman, the Managing Director of NPA, told some terminal operators in Calabar that the authority will ensure maximum collection of all fees due to the government while urging them to stick to the terms of agreements entered with government.

As NPA insists that payments be made in United States dollars,Terminal operators who paid fees to NPA in naira in June 2016, have had their money returned.

Politics / Shell Nigeria Declares A Force Majeure For Bonny Light Crude Oil Lifting by Lordemma(m): 10:12pm On Aug 12, 2016
Due to a shut down of a Niger Delta pipeline, Shell’s Nigerian Unit has declared a force majeure for Bonny Light Crude Oil Lifting

Despite a resumption of cash payments to militants and government effort to dialogue peacefully, attacks throughout the Niger Delta have continued which has caused Shell to declare force majeure on some export streams.
Following a leak of some pipelines in Niger Delta, a statement made today, Friday, 12th of August, has it that Shell’s Nigerian unit has declared force majeure for Bonny Light Crude Oil Liftings.

Shell, in a statement said that: “SPDC declared force majeure on Bonny Light liftings effective 1000 hrs (Nigerian Time) today due to shutdown of the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) by the pipeline operator, Aiteo, following a leak.”

A spokeswoman said Bonny Light exports were continuing via the Trans Niger Pipeline, which had reopened after being closed since early June.

Sources told Reuters the pipeline resumed pumping oil last week. Exports of 211,000 bpd were initially planned for August.

As a result of militant attacks on these oil pipelines, the country is missing more than 700,000 bpd of oil production.

In addition to the grades under force majeure, a trader and port source said others, such as Escravos, were flowing at reduced rates due to attacks on pipelines and other infrastructure.

As the country struggles with militant attacks that have disrupted its oil production and exports, its on record that Bonny Light is the fourth Nigerian oil grade under force majeure.

Others include the country’s largest export stream, Qua Iboe, Forcados and Brass River.

Politics / An Open Letter To Buhari On The Niger Delta Challenge by Lordemma(m): 12:37pm On Aug 12, 2016
A Concerned Nigeria writes an open latter to Buhari

MY dear President, permit me to speak to you directly through this open letter for many reasons. Some of those reasons include overzealous officials who prevent some good people with genuine advice from reaching you. I am a basically in this class Sir.

So addressing you through an open letter is not out of disrespect for your person and high office, but instead out of the exigency of “reaching you anyhow” because of the urgency this issue of the Niger Delta militancy presents.

It will be only reasonable to commence this discussion by appreciating you for rescinding your earlier hard stance of total military confrontation against the Niger Delta militants, now known as Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, to a soften platform of negotiation or dialogue. This action of yours Sir, is a sign of strength rather than weakness as some might see it. It is because you have chosen this approach that l am willing to advise you on the best way of reaching those that can make authentic negotiation and resolution of the crisis possible.

Take note of one fact Sir: that since the issue of dialogue and negotiation have been presented by your person, voices of discord and discouragement have been raised more from your side of the divide – voices that are not complementary to your stand of peaceful negotiation.

For instance, your Vice President’s opinion on the approach to peace in the Niger Delta, through dialogue, is slightly different and if his opinion is to be adopted in approaching the challenge at hand, doom is most likely to be the outcome. Ditto those who advised you immediately you were sworn in as president to cancel the Maritime University at Okerenkoko in Delta State.

Stoppage of the construction of what would have been the largest and best shipyard in Africa, stoppage of the Amnesty Programme based, unfortunately, on the advice of certain individuals, including some Niger Deltans, certainly will not be in our best interest.

These people meant trouble for you at that time, and this you did not know, Mr President. They paved your path to success with thorns and hazard – a trap you fell into when you made some policy statements contrary to the collective sensitivity of all those from the South-South geo-political zone. It was at this point that the battle line was drawn for the resurgence of militancy.

This analysis also revealed the stupidity of a comment recently made by one of the leading opinion leaders from the North, who concluded that “the Avengers of the Niger Delta have nothing to avenge”. That conclusion could have only emanated from a shallow and perfidious mind of someone who lacked qualitative sense of history. These boys, the Avengers, have much and everything to avenge. Yes, they have everything to avenge if pushed to the brink.

Sir, you have done the best by your recent step of “talking and dialoguing” as that is the wisest way of avoiding collateral damage to the country’s economy, damage to the geographical zone and the ecology of the whole South-South [if military hostility ensured] and unexpected destruction to thehuman material of both sides of the conflicting entities.

Sir, for the dialogue to be meaningful, l will advise you exercise extreme caution with regards to those invited to participate. Let me place it on record that present events in that region did not begin with the Avengers. The Avengers challenge is just another phase of a battle that started even before Nigeria came into existence in 1914.

You will recall thatMajor Temple, the Lieutenant Governor of the Northern Protectorate, suggested in 1912 “an autonomous six geopolitical structures for both Protectorates of the North and South”. His was a call for a fiscally federated arrangement to be anchored on resource control of the then suggested federating units, while same was expected to pay royalty tax to the anticipated government at the centre.

The agitation, since that proposal of 1912, had not abated till date. Instead, it continued through the Harold Dappa Bariye’s 1959 formation of the Niger Delta Congress, to the Isaac Daka Boro’s declaration of a Republic which lasted for only 12 days before he was arrested, jailed and later released by General Yakubu Gowon into a war of uniting Nigeria. He died on May 6, 1968 in battle.

The same agitation was brought to the front-burner by Ken Saro-Wiwa, the Ogoni environmentalist. The late Head of State, General Sani Abacha and machinery of the Nigerian State murdered him on November 10, 1995. The Kaiama [the Izon home-town of Isaac Adaka Boro in Bayelsa State]declaration of 1998 became a more fundamental structure of the same struggle until the Union of Niger Delta [UND] issued its communiqué on 24, of March, 2000.

The struggle, by the formation of the UND, took the agitation beyond the Izon [erroneously called Ijaw] nationality enclave into encompassing the wider “geographical Niger Delta” region. I called it “geographical Niger Delta” because the nebulously packaged structurein the name of Niger Delta, by Olusegun Obasanjo, for the purpose of forming the Niger Delta Development Commission, which includes Abia, Imo and Ogun States, remains an abnormality to the original Niger Delta region as captured by the Nigerian Geographical Map.

However the point being made here is that there may be different names at different times like New Era Movement, Niger Delta Youths Movement, MEND or even Niger Delta Avengers, it is one War with various battles. It has the same Spirit, the same source of inspiration and the same ancestral backing force, and shall remain the same generational clarion call to duty.

If you are willing Sir, I shall present to you simple but workable formants for the solution next and that is if you are genuinely willing to make enduring history in Nigeria.

Politics / 5 Annoying Things Nigerians Do In Petrol Stations by Lordemma(m): 10:55pm On Aug 10, 2016

Petrol stations are a common feature in cities all around the world.

People from all walks of life troop in daily to buy petrol, gas, diesel, kerosene, buy engine oil and carryout repairs.

Some petrol stations strategically have a fast food or a mini-supermarket behind them where customers can quickly dash off to relax and get what interests them.

In Nigeria, many people do some annoying things while in the petrol station which can be so annoying to see.

Nawhere.ng lists five annoying things Nigerians do in petrol stations.

1.Petrol talkers

Despite signs and warnings dotted all over petrol stations on the dangers of using a cell phone especially when close to a petrol dispensing machines, some Nigerians tend to ignore these warnings and are usually seen chatting endlessly on their phones while buying fuel.

2.Rule breakers

Most petrol stations are well planned and have easy access and exit routes. But some Nigerians deliberately break these rules. It is common place to see drivers turn illegally to use the access route as exit route and vice versa ignoring the laid down rule already in place.

3.Kings of kegs

Nigeria Filling Station

This is really annoying especially when you are in a hurry. It is a common sight in petrol stations to see drivers offloading hordes of kegs from their vehicles to have them all filled up. This is very common during the fuel scarcity period or when scarcity is imminent. People should be considerate, putting in mind that if every other person does the same, we will all practically sleep in petrol stations.

4. ‘I know the manager’ crew

These set of people are seen mostly during the fuel scarcity period. They abuse the privilege of knowing the staff and management of the petrol station and go ahead to rub it in the face of those patiently waiting in queues by barging in from nowhere, get a refill and leave immediately with arrogance. Any attempt to query their audacity will be met with a shrug and sometimes the information that they are ‘a friend of the house’.

5.Petrol-managers

Danfo-bus

Those familiar with the annoying antics of the commercial bus drivers can relate to this. Imagine being inside a commercial bus and the driver enters a petrol station, only for him to buy five hundred naira (500) fuel after wasting 5-10 minutes in the petrol station. Super annoying!

But now that NNPC has officially declared N150/ltr for kerosene, let's see if filling stations will comply. Most of them will still sell at ridiculous prices for sure.

Yeah... I use nawhere.ng a lot
most especially this period that kerosene is damn expensive. there are some stations selling at cheaper price so I make sure to check before going out.
Some filling stations are just taking advantage of ignorant people. God help us in this county.
