ABUJA- STRONG indications emerged, Tuesday, that striking members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) are set to call off their two-week-old strike.

According to the Doctors, with the intervention of the President of the Senate, who happens to be the number three citizen, and the assurance he gave them, they have resolved that the planned national protest would be canceled while the decision on the ongoing strike would be taken later.

The resolution came after a closed-door meeting with the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Leadership of the Senate.

Speaking with Journalists shortly after the closed-door meeting with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and other Principal Officers of the Senate, the National President of the association, Dr Emeka Innocent Orji, said, “We had a very fruitful meeting with the Senate led by the President of the Senate and from our discussions with them, we are very hopeful that when we table our discussions today before the NEC, something positive would come out.

In his remarks, Senator Akpabio who thanked the medical doctors for honoring the Senate by calling off their planned national protest and also working towards calling off the strike, said, ” I thank you on behalf of the Senate for honoring us with your decision not only to cancel the planned public protest but to also call off the strike in the interest of the suffering masses.

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors on Tuesday night declared an indefinite strike.

The President of NARD, Dr Emeka Orji, who disclosed this to our correspondent said the strike will begin Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 12am.

Dr Orji said, the decision was made during its July National Executive Council meeting in Lagos.

Details later…

You would recall that NARD had earlier gone on a warning strike in May which led to a Memorandum of Understanding with the government as at then. The government failed to fulfill it's part of the MOU.

Demands of NARD include immediate payment of MRTF of 2023, one for one replacement of doctors in the health system, review of CONMESS, payment of skipping, hazard and minimum wage arrears among others.

The Nigerian government needs to wake up to the call of being sensitive to the plight of Nigerian Doctors, patients and Nigerians at large.

I wonder why some people will be so stupid to indirectly say Ronaldo was d problem of Juventus and that they will rebuild and all that because of their love for another GOAT.
So many of you guys don't even watch football or Juventus matches.
So CR7 was also the problem of Madrid when they won 3 consecutive UCL titles and also when he won with United.
The funny thing is that their GOAT relies on a more stable team to even flourish.
Atleast their goat has now scored 6 goals in the ligue one (farmers league).

I am sure you are not expecting me to mention names , but I will not gain anything coming here to lie

I experinced that of teaching Hospitals because of my friend's baby, that was admitted, she lost the baby, I saw how useless students doctors were acting , begging th to come take blood from a baby of six months for test ,rather they were laughing and romancing each other talking and jisting, quote

I have visited private hospitals , and the doors were using Google to read about the symptoms mentioned,
see the very few good Doctors have turn them selves to consultants, where you need pay Hugh fee, before seeing them

The hospitals doctors used phones are big hospitals , biggest in my area, normal registration fee 5k,. Consultant from 30k

There are good Doctors. But majority are jokers.

Many of them are becoming too arrogant for knowing nothing,

uthorr=lordempire post=105918195]

Which hospital have u experienced this pls?
Obviously exaggerated. Why then do Nigerian doctors fare so well in foreign countries?

Sometimes u fall into the hands of people who aren't doctors in the name of visiting some private hospitals....even male CHO and CHEWs can form doctors and they can exemplify ur description of carrying phones to check your symptoms.
An average Nigerian doctor is brilliant. Try and check on your secondary school best students and find out how many are medical doctors today. They excel so well even in foreign exams and research.

Your description about what took place in the teaching hospital is ridiculous and I won't take it seriously bcz I have been to the teaching hospitals severally and I don't see any of such.

Try and speak to the multitudes of lives that have been saved in Nigerian hospitals with the barest facility of international repute.
We don't see the good in ourselves, we only see the bad and ofcz won't point accusing fingers at the cause.....but the personnel.

NB: 40yrs ago, foreigners used to come for treatment in UCH.

Bro the poster above is right, you might not be among the useless Doctors but they are indeed useless

Very useless, all they do is for the male doctors to be sleeping with students doctors in teaching hospitals , in some private hospitals they use phone to Google ailment, the few that are better, have turn themselves to useless consultants, collecting useless fee.
Nigeria doctors have killed more lives than natural death.

They are very useless, arrogant and treat patients like patients have leprosy.

quote author=lordempire post=105915128]

You are obviously an idiot.
I am sure neither you nor your siblings have the cerebral competence to see the walls of a medical school talkless of graduating from the University to have adequate knowledge of how important Nigerian Doctors are all over the world.
This is why you can emit such purulent words from your gangrenous cerebral hemisphere.

Which hospital have u experienced this pls?
Obviously exaggerated. Why then do Nigerian doctors fare so well in foreign countries?

Useless doctors and useless government. Everybody is under a Spell.

Ignorance is obviously a disease.
May the suffering, wailings and cry of an average Nigerian doctor who has been owed for months to years befall you and your generation.
