Politics / Governor Soludo Visits Erosion Site In Ideani-Nnobi (Pictures) by Louisojibe(m): 12:40pm On Sep 06, 2023
I visited the Ideani-Nnobi erosion site today to see the damage caused by yet another erosion menace to a major road artery linking parts of Idemili to Onitsha. Ofcourse we will swing into quick remedial actions to save the area from total collapse.

The current rate at which new erosion sites are springing up in the State calls for a multi-stakeholder intervention. As a government, we have continued to raise awareness on the need to mitigate individual actions that give rise to increased soil erosivity, including the control of run-off water from private and public buildings. We are also working with the Federal government and foreign development partners to provide adequate Interventions to check the menace.

Like we always say, Anambra is the gully erosion capital of the world, it has become our existential threat. Even if we commit the entire budget of the State to solving just the erosion problem, it will only amount to a drop in the ocean. This is why we call on our people to take precautionary measures seriously, including tree planting which we have started as a government across the State.

May Anambra continue to win!

Politics / Amnesty International Condemns rivers Govt Shut Down Of AIT, Raypower by Louisojibe(m): 12:22am On Sep 06, 2023
Amnesty International strongly condemns River state government’s Siminalayi Fubara flagrant shut down of the operations of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM radio in Port Harcourt. This clampdown by Rivers state authorities is an attack on media freedom.

The brazen dismantling the of masts and the use of bulldozers to demolish the Transmitter Complex at the DAAR Communications broadcast Centre in Port Harcourt bear all the hallmarks of witch hunt — and utter contempt for the independent media.

The attack on AIT/Raypower is clearly intended to send a chilling message that media and journalists need to self-censor or face dire consequences. The Nigerian authorities must investigate this shocking attack on media freedom by the Rivers state government .

Politics / DSS Warn Against Violent Protests In The Country by Louisojibe(m): 9:22pm On Sep 04, 2023
The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby informs the public that it has uncovered plans by some elements in parts of the country to stage violent protests in order to discredit the Federal Government and security agencies over sundry socio-economic matters. Intelligence reports have indicated that the plotters include certain politicians who are desperately mobilising unsuspecting student leaders, ethnic based associations, youth and disgruntled groups for the planned action. Meanwhile, the Service has identified the ring leaders of the plot as well as sustained monitoring around them in order to deter them from plunging the country into anarchy.

In view of this development, University Vice-Chancellors and Heads of Tertiary Institutions are advised to discourage their students from engaging in acts capable of derailing public peace. Also, parents and guardians are enjoined to admonish their children and wards respectively to shun the lure of participating in inimical behaviours or conducts against law and order.

While the DSS is aware of Government’s efforts and determination to resolve some of the challenges confronting the nation, it warns those desirous of subverting national security to retrace their steps. This is more so that it will not hesitate to legally come against persons and groups behind the devious plans.

Crime / Seyitan Gone Missing Hours Before Attesting To Police PRO Over Her Rape Case by Louisojibe(m): 1:56pm On Jun 18, 2020
Correspondence Strategist Chioma Agwuegbo has raised an alert of Seyitan Babatayo missing notwithstanding a booked gathering with Nigerian Police PRO toward the beginning of today.

Agwuegbo who expressed that there is solid motivation to trust Seyitan didn’t return home the previous evening, included that she isn’t responding to calls or in contact with her legal advisor or family.

She demanded that the police will be considered dependable on the off chance that anything happens to the supposed rape victim who as indicated by her, is being constrained to abjure her testimony.

She tweeted;

So Miss Seyitan Eunice Babatayo who was supposed to meet with @PoliceNG PPRO this morning is nowhere to be found. She’s not answering calls or in contact with her lawyer or family. There is strong reason to believe she didn’t get home last night.

It is unconscionable that women in Nigeria cannot speak up about sexual violence done to them without fear of more violence. What is this pressure on Seyitan to recant if Dbanj is not guilty? Didn’t they already ask for 100m in damages? Why not allow the law take its course?

We have it on good authority that she is being pressured and induced to recant her testimony. Dear @PoliceNG , you’re already culpable for being a willing tool to harass and intimidate a citizen who accused Dbanj of rape. We will hold you accountable if anything happens to her.

Politics / APC Is Not A Political Party For ‘big Men’ Says Oshiomhole by Louisojibe(m): 10:20am On Jun 16, 2020
Adams Oshiomhole, The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has on Monday, said the ruling party was not for “big men”.

The ex governor stated this after a meeting of APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari.

He also described APC as a party of rules and claimed they did not even twist the rules for President Muhammadu Buhari, when he was seeking Presidential re-election in 2018.

Oshiomhole, further added that, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, did not have a right of first refusal, as he seeks a second term.

Sadly for the governor, he has been disqualified by the party and will not have any chance of participating in it’s June 22 primaries.

Oshiomhole, while attending to questions from State House reporters in Abuja after the meeting with Gambari, described: “Our party is not a party of big men. It is governed by rules. Both the small and the big are subjected to those rules.

“I’m sure you will agree that our president led by example when we conducted direct primary in the last presidential election. We still went to Eagle Square for affirmation.

“So, if the president did not have the right of first refusal because our constitution does not provide for it, we cannot under any circumstances now bend the rules when it comes to some people and change the rules when it comes to others.”
