@ olukemiyemi @ subice Look at my earlier post on cost of Delivery in Maryland. Hope that helps. |
Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Maryland - Virginal Birth average cost is $5,520 and C-Section is $7,070 |

Maryland is expensive and they only give 1% or 2% discount to cash paying patient. Your best bet is a birthing center if you are looking at spending below $6K. Most birthing center fees start from $4,000 However, this is the current price for some hospital excluding doctor fee, pediatrician fee and epidural. Sinia Hospital - Virginal Birth for 2 nights is between $7k to $9k, while nursery cost about $600 per night ( they give 2% discount) Franklin Square Hospital - Virginal Birth for 2 nights is $10,000, you pay $220 to see a provider for each visit and you pay $1,300 for initial/commitment fee. ( they give 1% discount) Mercy Hospital - Virginal Birth for 2 nights is $8,600 ( they give 2% discount ) Saint Agnes Hospital - Virginal Birth for 2 nights is $7,800 and $12,000 for C-section ( No discount) University of Maryland Baltimore Washington - ( they give 2% discount to cash paying patient) Virginal Birth without epidural - $4,238.64 Virginal Birth with epidural - $5,298.30 C-Section Delivery - $6,534.57 Nursery for Newborn per day - $857 Room & Board per night - $1,692 Virginia State gives up to 20-25% discount and its very close to Maryland. Maybe you can look at that city. |

WudBMother: Just to give an insight.@ WudBMother, What don't you understand in this statement: Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) is pleased to offer you the Maternity Package Plan Agreement. The Plan offers complete prenatal maternity care for one affordable price. The package prices include the physician fees and the hospital and clinic charges. |
First step is to fill out the birth certificate form in the hospital and also apply for Social Security Number (SSN)for your baby. Kindly let the hospital staff know you will need the birth certificate urgently. You should be able to pick up a copy of the Birth Certificate from the Office of the Vital Record in the state you gave birth after 5 working days of filling the form or less OR you wait for it in the post which can take about 2 weeks or more. Step Two: Apply online for a Nigerian passport for your baby and get an appointment date ( I hear they now issue the passport same day as the appointment day). You can also call them to ask for an earlier appointment date. Step Three: Call the USA Passport office to get an appointment date. ( You are only allowed to do this if you intend travelling in the next 2 weeks or so, you will will need to tell them that your baby is travelling out within the next 2 weeks to get an appointment date) They may request to see your return ticket. However, you will get a date a week or less after you call. You then go to their office with all the required documents, including your passport and the notarised consent form from your husband if his not with you). They will give your baby a passport within 1-3 days. The other option is to apply by post for faster service. Your Baby's SSN will be delivered after 2 weeks of birth. But with your baby's Nigerian passport, you can leave before your visa expires. if you overstay, it will be an issue renewing your visa. Now depending on which passport you receive first, if its the USA Passport, then you will need a Nigerian visa to get your baby into Nigeria. Again you best option is to call the Nigeria embassy and ask for an immediate appointment. It would help if you are in a state or close to a state like DC and NY where we have both the Nigerian embassy and USA Passport office. I hope this help. fatimj200: I came to the US to have my child, my stay expires in one month how do i get all my baby's paper on time so i can travel back with him? Does anybody have any advice for me. Another question, will I be able to travel back to the US after that? |

Sta8narrow: Im sorry, I would rather not endorse any whom I have not received service from and Im still undecided but have narrowed it down to 2. My total cost at Maricoma was just a little over $8100US (normal childbirth not cesarean). No complications, no extra days in hospital which is stll a very reasonable price, just unexpected.Did you pay the bill before discharge or did you pay earlier and get the 25% discount before you were slammed with a bill of $8,100. |
Copiousworld: I am in the process of renewing my visa. Could you pls explain this better. When i got to the embassy, the lady outside arranging the queue said that for renewal its going to be very fast as they have a dropbox system. So we all got talking saying but they have stopped that process and we will still get interview. i was even going on that maybe she should have used another word and not the dropbox since we still all had to go inside and see a CO. Immediately i entered the embassy and took my callup nos, we were all told to join a queue or sit down and wait for our numbers to be called ( this was just past 7am and the CO's were Nigerian, the foreign CO's counters were not yet open as they were just arriving to work). when my number got called, the lady asked for my papers which i handed over my passport, 2 passport photograph and DS160 confirmation page. She stapled one passport photo to the DS160 form and returned the other to me. She then scanned the barcode and asked me where my pickup location was. I told her Lekki and she ticked on the white paper, DHL Muri Okunola and told me to pick up on Thursday. However i noticed after some people saw the Nigeria CO's they were told to sit down to wait for interview. This was my third renewal and i retrieved my last DS160 form on their website, so i only updated my last travel information and expected travel date on the new DS160 form i submitted. |
Got my visa renewed and was not asked about my baby |
For renewal visa, they now have a system called dropbox which i used today. Very fast. CO: Good Morning ME: Good Morning ( i gave her my documents) she staples my passport photo to my DS160 form and checks her computer CO: where is your pickup location ME: Lekki and she hands me the white paper It was all less than a minute. |
sweetg: Kindly quote the website am, as I already told them all of these. I understand diff states have their laws. I get informations and research before doing thingswww.medicaidoffice.net - look at section on show proof you live in New York And other sites on New York State Department of Health. Other Eligibility Criteria Age - The child must be under nineteen years of age. Immigration Status - There are no immigration status requirements for Medicaid. New York Residency - The child must be a New York State resident. Residency in Medicaid is based on the concept of domicile – which is determined according to one’s intent to make a state one’s permanent and fixed home (a person cannot have more than one domicile at a time). But if as you said the Social Worker told you its OK, then i guess its OK, maybe everyone case is accessed differently so maybe you are lucky. If so it means on their record it will show the child will be leaving the country and no social worker in the next few months will be calling and coming to the New York address you wrote on the application form to ask about your baby and why your baby has not taken his/her shots as when due or visit the pediatrician for his/her normal checkup as when due. |
sweetg: @Ring of God, that isn't true. I contacted a lawyer even before getting the Medicaid. I called the collection office and the Medicaid office it's self. Some of the tips the consular gave me was even medicaid. She is eligible. My cost of delivery is on me. No body will deny u visa because u applied for a citizen. NO no. I got my fact before doing so. I know ppl who have done sooo too. It's not in my record but my child's. how do can u pay 30'000 dollars for a child. America don't expect u to do so. When get there study there system. Get informations. Safe tripSweetg, did you mention to the lawyer, the collection office and medicaid that you will be taking this child back to Nigeria before the child turns one year old? I don't know the particular state you gave birth but they do have a law that for a child to claim medicaid in certain states like Maryland, NJ etc the child must be a residence of that State. You can easily go to any of their websites and check out this rule. The social worker you meet in the hospital should have educated you on this at the point in time you asked for the form and that is if they know you are a foreigner without a resident permit. Immediately you tell them you will be returning home with your child they will let you know you are not entitled to medicaid. So please stop getting it mixed up and sending wrong advise for intending women that wants to give birth in the states. Your child is very much entitled to medicaid only if you are a citizen and you qualify under the income threshold OR you yourself intend living in the USA illegally. |
Hello Hbid, Your advise is so correct as i found out. I was waiting for an appointment to meet a lawyer when i got into a conversation with the receptionist and she told me i did not need a lawyer as i just had to go to the billing office. I've gone to the billing office and they did reimburse medicaid and i also got a letter from the hospital too saying i made payment and i have no outstanding on my patient account. But the doctor's bill and the epidural bill is still outstanding as they said they can't reimburse medicaid. When i intend renewing my visa, i will just take all i have which is almost USD9K in paid bills. |
