All the candidates i noticed had issue's, mostly read thier reason's like it was coming out of a book, were rude, like the guy who kept correcting the v.o, or had odd stories - like the guys who said he worked in a nominal dept. (where did that come from !). If you read my transcript, i had issue's to - i forgot my academic reason had to ask the v.o for a sec to collect myself and i still did not remember my academic reason. Please note - for the guy who said academic reason is the blah blah , you dont go to school to get a degree only, exposure, social experience, networking - these guys know it .. i read this thread several times and the academic reason was cliche to me and that was the reason i placed it at the bottom of my "3 criteria for choosing cua - 1 was religion 2 was location and 3 was academic . I did not even cleary or in concise form, tell him my academic reason (i just blurted out - cua emphasis on theory and practical) (was that !) But by all means , if academic reason is the only point you can think/ the only thing you can gain or experience for going to the U.S for an education by all means tell the v.o. Religion should not be emphasized as the main reason for choosing a particular school.You did not just say that , did u ! i never said religion should be her main reason but, it should be amongst the reason's cos it's obvious not so, and like the other poster said, acceptance rate to christian schools is way to high, don't know about that. All the universities i see here have pretty high acceptance rates - have not heard of any, MSU, GeorgeWash, or UCLA's - eastern michigan - a public school which keeps popping up has an ass whopping 70% acceptance rates and over 70K student, and students still get visa's approved - so acceptance rates is not a factor - it's PROGRAM FIT . About the atheist thing, the logic is flawed - wont make sense to send an atheist to interview people who are 99% christain/muslim , and going by your argument - which states if he was an atheist (meaning he would not be comfortable with giving a devout christian/muslim a visa). During my visa interview , v.o asked why my school - and the first thing that came out of my mouth was i had chosen CUA based on three criteria of which the first was religion - the v.o nodded in approval. Suffice to say i got admission for my MA. at 2 university and i chose the christian school because i prefer it, i aint gon lie ! |

I forgot my point's but i summoned the courage to ask the v.o for a few sec's to pull my self together and he respected that - pls go through the entire thread and look at the questions they keep asking why this school why not that school who's kid are you is you father really who u say he is, if he is you should know alot about him and what he does do you really like this school or was it your only option ( desperation is a romance killer , learnt that the hard way) if you dont have an answer, rephrase his question and spit it back at him, with a lil something on the side the first question, is the only question - if you can answer the first question sincerely - even if your saying crap - like i did, he will know your not some idiot , with canned answers like my gmail autoresponder's stay away from your boyfriend for a few days till you get your visa, you need to fast and ask for forgiveness, and God's presence and favour, before you enter the building, when your in the building and as you walk to the v.o Dont forget to smile, and avoid your cheap euro/american accent - if your english is not polished like nse etim's or yul edochie - stick with the naija flavor - some chik had this terrible fake accent, i knew she was fk.ud. she kept saying yah , yah, n girls dont say yah or yeah when speaking to strangers they say yes - these guys hang around nigerian's proly even date same or are married to one or more , like my o.g barrister.x say's keep it gangsta, keep it rolling - stay real. 1 Like |

Glory to Jesus - Honor to Mary. I am here to share my testimony oooooh.  My visa got approved this morning at the LOS consular office - will returning to ABJ on Thursday after i collek my visa. Was only asked few questions - i blanked out at the end of my first answer but i asked the V.O for a minute to collect myself - he obliged me and started sipping his shayi (tea) . So, i am headed for CUA' Washington for my M.A IEDM in a week or so. I start orientation on the 20th. ----------------------------------------------- transcript ----------------------------------------------- V.O - why CUA me - i chose CUA based on 3 criteria ; faith (blah blah blah), location (blah blah ...) V.O cuts in, say o.k V.O - whats the 3 reason, you said 3 me - (blank out for 5 secs or so 'making funny faces') V.O - 'still waiting - suprised' me - could you give me a minute , am really stressed out V.O - sure (picks up's his flask, sips' his tea) me - just blurted out the following word's ( CUA emphasis on theory and practical ) V.O - 'does seem to give a hoot - proly confused by what i meant 'theory and practical' - he still looking at me me - 'my brains back up kicks in' and i say we go on several visit , like were visiting chemonics this september and we get to listen to development economist talk about new policies and.... V.O - cuts in - o.k me - 'am fuked' - what do i tell my mum V.O - what did you do to get into CUA me - GRE V.O - do you have it me - yes - gives it to v.o V.O - uhh huuh me - i wrote a personal statement and got 3 recommendation letters, 2 from my school prof. 1 from my inlaw V.O - what do you do me - i work at my dads coy "insert name here", as an asst. admin . manager V.O - what do they do me - we sell, maintain , and install, security equipment - atm, strong room doors, treasury, banking safes, cctv, revolving doors..... V.O - hmmm, why dev economics - you seem to have more experience in business me - that's true- graduated with a bsc in bus.mgt but my dad helps out my hometown, whenever he can, however the money is always scattered and donations unstructured - the money never does anything meaningful, want to study iedm so i can plan, design and manage ... ( v.o cut's in O.K) V.O - does your dad own the coy me - yes V.O - is he paying for it me - yes, i have his bank statement 'gives it to v.o' V.O - where did you study me- university of maiduguri V.O - what me - university of maiduguri V.O - alright your visa is approved, picked it up in three days time, make sure you take you i-20 with you when you travel me - thank you, pack my papers - squeeze em into my louis v. man purse and roll out. Make una help me thank GOD (holy trinity) , virgin Mary, all the angels and saints and my guardian angel ( couldnt have done it without u) Also - shout out to the thread owners, picked up alot of points from the conversations here - especially the part where i should wear nything i like. and the part where some chick said she never needed her admission letter (was running around in circles for this one) PEACE - and to others, you are yet to get your visa I have one word for you _ GO WITH GOD AND God SPeeD 5 Likes |

MsNas: First off, CUA is a Catholic private Institution. And you said you got a GRE and TOEFL waiver. That sounds like a bad idea (to me at least). The VO would think you wanna cut corners by applying to a private institution(they are known to accept almost all their applicants), and you didn't even bother to take any standardized test to solidy your claims of being a genuine student.dude, i got my GRE print out from my account - the address is fixed switched it to my home address as is on all my documents. Just want to know if the da.mn print out will suffice ! I got toefl waiver - school said my grades on english GRE beat the cut-off so no toefl (gt 149 , skl nd 146). Thanks for info on the admission letter, my school sent me a scanned copy which has my name as is on my passport. As for the scanned copy on file -- eeh i think i will pass on that , already sweet talked my way to a GA job, housing, partial scholarship ... any more favor will have to be requested in person - my program director has warned me ooooooh ! 10-4 on the ticket. As for how my names worked out on other documents - the admission letter came first 'duhh ! So, it was easy to get other name to stick. I think they were using the name on my transcript - from Uni. (that document only has 50% of my names )And, YUP CUA is a private catholic institution - the only catholic institution of higher education endorsed by the Holy SEE in Amelicah. I could not go to madonna so this is my consolation prize . Abeg how fr with the chick matter, my course go hot ooh - i need somebody to mummy me ooooooh (no white chicks ) |

Abeg house, help a brother ooh. I got admission to CUA Washington and Clark in Boston For M.A in IEDM and IDCE respectively. I chose CUA. These are some issue's i need advice on: I only have a soft copy admission letter my school sent, never received the hard copy. Eventhough, i recieved a copy with my i-20 it looks really rough and the name does not correspond with my i-20 or school documents like my housing confirmation , gre and toefl waiver. My GRE is also a soft copy not the hard copy - only Jesus knows what the guy who registered me put in the address section. Do i need to go with a flight reservation, i have been working with my old man ever since service ended as assis.admin manager in his coy. But not collecting any salary - the boss gives me cash whenever i need it (no questions asked ) if the v.o raises a question about my salary - is this a big deal.PS - Any fine Nigerian Girls (color white) schooling in Wash. preferrably for Masters - that can cook ? I can only cook indomie and fry eggs ooooh......... Jesus i go suffer oooooooooh |
