Flamini was prepared to take a backseat role for his mate, always covering for Cesc. Will Xabi like to play that role Won't Xabi feel he is better than Cesc (Always had a bit of a "I am Better than Him" attitude when ever they were called up for national duty).

As for Pires, well unlike the trash you wrote up there, i beg to differ. Pires asked for a move simply because he felt Wenger did not trust him anymore (which he said in an interview). He was sad that he was the one that was subsituted in the CL final in Paris, and that was the main thing that pushed him to leave, not the 1 year deal.

Afterall, Dennis Bergy never complained about the 1 year deals, what most players look for is if the Gaffer still has faith in them. Same situation can be said of Gilberto. Berti didn't really care about a 1 year deal, as he wanted to retire an Arsenal player. What hurt him is his feelings that Arsene doesn't see the need to trust him with any major responsibility, both in his role in MF and as a Captain.
