The wait is over and the moment is HERE! MTV has revealed the nominees for the 2011 EMA, to be held 6th November Belfast!

Leading the talented pack of nominated artists—who span rock, pop, hip-hop, alternative, and practically everything in between—is Lady Gaga, with six nominations. Katy Perry and Bruno Mars tied with four nods. And Adele, Justin Bieber, and Thirty Seconds To Mars each scored three. Other artists who made the cut include Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, My Chemical Romance, Jennifer Lopez, LMFAO, Jessie J, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Eminem, Arcade Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Far East Movement, Kanye West, Linkin Park, Wiz Khalifa, and Kings of Leon, with two nominations each— Nigeria’s own Wizkid is nominated in the Africa/India/Arabia category .

And this year, there is two new prizes up for grabs.

First, the Biggest Fans award will recognize the artist with the most passionate fan base. Along with voting for the nominees, you can also join a Fan Team at www.mtvema.com and earn additional points to support your favourite nominee!

Also new this year is the World Wide Act category, which celebrates diversity and the breadth of all the music that MTV has to offer by nominating incredible artists from all corners of the world. Fans will be able to vote for an artist/group from their respective territory in Europe starting today Monday, September 19th, and then those local winners will vie for the European title the week of 17th October. The representative for Europe will be announced the week of 24th October along with the regional nominees from Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific and Africa/India/Middle East, and those five regional nominees will then battle for the “World Wide Act” distinction. The winner will be named at the show in Belfast.

American rap star, Curtis Jackson, aka 50Cent has been forced to drop the title of his soon-to-be-released multi-million dollar movie, Things Fall Apart.

Showbiz Trends gathered that the foundation managing the works of renowned literary icon, ​Professor Chinua Achebe,​ won a fierce battle with the producers of the biopic, written and acted by ​50Cent​, over intellectual infringement.

It is learnt that when the news about the movie came out, the foundation had written the movie producers to intimate them of an infringement bothering on a novel written by Achebe. But the producers took it with levity and scornfully offered to pay a paltry $1million (N150million) to the literary giant because “50Cent would rather want to keep the title,” a source said.​

A week after releasing the theme song for Hennessy Artistry 2011, Eldee, Jesse Jagz and Banky W embarked on a scheduled trip to Cognac, France on September 5, 2011. The artistes were treated to “The Hennessy Heritage Experience” alongside Chocolate City’s MI who has worked closely with Hennessy in the past.

“This is really our way of giving these artistes a unique one on one experience with Hennessy Cognac” Communications Manager Tokini Peterside told journalists early this week.

While in France, these artistes were treated to a night in “Chateau de Bagnolet”- a private chateau in Cognac belonging to the Hennessy Family. Banky W, eLDee, Jesse Jagz and MI joined the likes of Common, The Roots and Alexander Burke on the list of prestigious guests at the exclusive Hennessy chateau.

“We were welcomed at the Chateau de Bagnolet by the Hennessy Ambassador, Cyrille Gautier Auriol. It was a big one for me knowing that noteworthy guests like Joe Cocker, Ray Charles and others have also been hosted there before” Banky W says.

He continues “We went through the Vineyard, where we were made to understand the difference between the grape varieties chosen and used during Hennessy production, after which we returned to the Chateau de Bagnolet where we mixed our special Hennessy Concoctions with the assistance of a mixologist.

Nigerian rapper Obiajulu Nwaozor AKA MC Loph, who did a remix to the hit classic Osondi owendi is reportedly dead. According to popular comedian Yaw, and broadcasts, he was driving on Benin/ore road on his way to his traditional wedding when he had the accident which claimed his life.

This is yet another blow to the Nigerian entertainment industry to have lost another talent. His remix of the classic osondi owendi caused a buzz that had the nation dancing.The song “Osondi Owendi” featured Flavour N’Abania, and a few other artists.

Ibadan — DISSATISFIED with its unchallenged bombing activities in the North, Boko Haram has threatened to extend the reign of terror to southern parts of the country.

Leaders of the sect said yesterday that their radar was now on University of Ibadan (UI), University of Benin (UNIBEN) and 18 other universities, which they said they would bomb between yesterday (September 12) and September 17.

Boko Haram sent an e-mail last Thursday to the mail box of UNIBEN Registrar, notifying the institution of its resolve to bomb the university as part of its agenda to stop western education in the country. Last week, there was a bomb scare at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa.

In the purported e-mail, the Islamic Sect gave September 12 to 17 as the target date to detonate bombs at the higher institution, warning that the message was “not a threat, but a notification which must be strictly adhered to.”

The sect declared that it had listed University of Benin alongside 19 other universities where it planned to explode bombs within the stipulated period it gave, saying “Western education must stop in Nigeria. May Allah bless us.”

Beauty Queen turned rapper Munachi Abii AKA Muna just returned from the United States. The trip was to continue work on her long awaited debut album which has been pushed back due to “new opportunities” during the recording of the album.

She visited Miami, Washington DC and of course her management’s US base in Atlanta for some PR meetings and to attend the annual LudaDay Weekend put together by rapper/actor Ludacris.

Songs on her upcoming album – The Goddess The Hustler, is being produced by some American producers and also Nigerian producers such as E Kelly, Sarz and J Sleek.

Yup! August 13 2011 has come and gone and it was definitely a night to remember in the big city of Toronto, Canada. Courtesy of Events by bee, Toronto guests including those who flew in from other parts of Canada and the United states were treated to one of the best parties this summer – Sui Generis. The party which was themed “It’s all about the music” featured no one but DJ JamJam aka Oyinbo Swagga all the way from London, United Kingdom.

The party which took place at The Vue Night club was attended by lots of people which led to a fun night. Live music was provided by Dj Hypnotique for the first half of the party; it didn’t take too long before Dj JamJam got in the booth and rocked the crowed with his mind-blowing mixes. The beautiful ladies were not forgotten this time as they were also treated to back drop pictures by no one but Ottawa’s favorite Odudu Photography. He was also on ground to capture every moment of the event.

Well, on the 30th of August, DJ Tee, Playtown crew and management (411 Entertainment) set out to make the video of “Playboy ft. Brymo”.

Day 1 was shot at XL Lounge in Victoria Island Lagos. Invited guests present on the day were: Sheyman, Sarz, YQ, Chuddy K, Morachi, Plus One, Fivemics, Sossick, and Maheeda.

The Lead model of the shoot called to cancel her contract with us 20 minuites before the shoot was supposed to kick off, and it took us 2 hours to find a replacement. Eventually, the shoot started at 2pm and ran on till about 8pm. Everybody was in a good mood and so everything ran smoothely as we approached the end of Day 1 of the shoot.

Playbuoy headed back home to lodge the invited models and also pay for the hotel room which will be used for day 2 shoot, but was attacked by 2 Touts at the enterance of the hotel. They left him with an injury at the back of my head, a dislocated neck, and an almost ripped off nail. Regardless of the inflicted injuries, the Day 2 shoot had to continue though a little later than planned because, he had to get treatment.

Day2 shoot (Wed 31st August) started at 4pm rather than 12noon as originally planned. At about 6pm it was done, and the ‘Playboy” video wrapped up. The next day, DJ Tee flew to America to attend the N.E.A ceremony. DJ Tee’s trip was the reason we couldn’t postpone the shoot despite the challenges we faced

Abiola David Ania aka Flowssickk (kidpreddy) was raised by both his parents in Lagos, Nigeria. He was born into a musilm extended family but was raised as a Christian, he is the 6th of 7 kids from his mother.
