Sexy singer, Omawumi Megbele is now a mother. The award winning singer welcomed her first child a girl in faraway America. The name of the child hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Sources close to her notified us that she put to bed early Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2AM.

Omawumi also stated via Blackberry Messenger (bbm) ‘A child is God’s reward – Psalm127:3B…Welcome sweetie!’,

The identity of the father still remains unknown but sources say the baby father could be the owner of the Lagos club Zamunda.

Nigerian superstar Darey was spotted out and about shopping in London yesterday. The ‘Ba Ni Kidi’ star is currently on a whirl wind promotional trip promoting his first Uk release ‘The Way You Are’ which is set for scheduled to drop on itunes on June 19 iin the UK.

Darey has been tweeting about his trip which has included press photo-shoots, radio interviews and TV appearances. He is even scheduled to attend the keep A Child Alive Black Ball held by Grammy Award singer Alicia Keys.

The driver of the explosive-laden car that blew up at 10.55am yesterday morning at the national headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force drove into the compound in the wake of the convoy of the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim.

Unconfirmed police sources said Mr Ringim himself might have been the target of the attack, but the bomber was thwarted when the car was stopped from parking near the disembarking police chief by a traffic officer who on realizing the vehicle was not part of the police IG’s convoy, directed the driver to move to the visitor’s car park .

The car, eye witness say, was driven by heavyset man who was expensively dressed. According to the witnesses, there was a second man in the car and he was making a phone call as the car drove into the police headquarters. The car is reported to have exploded before it had reached the parking space allotted to it.

The explosion killed the two men in the car as well as the police parking attendant that was trying to lead the car to the right parking space. The police are trying to ascertain the number of other visitors to the building who were caught by the explosion while trying to park their cars. Only after this would the number of those who died in the explosion be clear.

It is not certain if he’ll be using another customized plate number for the car but he already has one tagged ‘Jonzing W’.

D’Prince may not strike as a talented musician but with three hit singles “Omoba”, “Jonzing World” and “Give It To Me”, he has successfully established himself as a force to reckon with both in Mo’hits and Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

American multiple awards winning artist and producer, Kanye West has today finalized his interest to sign one of Nigeria’s biggest hip-hop artistes, Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D’Banj & Don Jazzy to his Good Music Entertainment, a production, management and record label outfit. “GOOD” is an acronym for “Getting Out Our Dreams”.

Speaking to D’Banj’s manager, Sunday Are of List Entertainment, he confirmed that there have been talks recently but D’Banj officially signed the contract today. “Yes there have been discussions between the two parties lately. They have been exchanging contracts but now the wait is over, he said.

Sources also revealed that Kanye is interested in working with Don Jazzy. We heard he wants him to produce a song on the collaboration album he is working on with Jay Z.

John Legend and Common were the first to sign to the management and production company. Their albums “Get Lifted and Be” (both executive-produced by West) were both critically acclaimed and combined were nominated for 7 Grammy Award nominations. “Get Lifted” had three nominations and “Be” had four.

As if Mo-Hits wasn’t big enough already. They are setting trends, and that’s just the fact.

“Mark of Uru” an animated web series that incorporates Igbo tradition in its plot is now available in full online. Directed by Obinna Owuekwe, the animation was awarded the World Summit Award in the e-culture and heritage category. Here is the animation’s description as described by the World Summit Award organizers:

Mark of Uru is an exciting web-based animation from Nigeria. Developed to fill the void of authentic African animation, the series combines digital expertise with local folk story, imagery and culture. Azuka is a girl born with a birthmark identical to the tattoo of the sinister sorceress Uru, who was banished from her village long past. Tales of agony and doom are woven around Uru and everything associated with her. Despite the efforts of Azuka’s mother’s to conceal the birthmark, it is eventually discovered, and the annihilation of the child becomes imminent, in order to protect the village dwellers from the curse of Uru. The intervention of a fallen elemental being, Isi-Agu, and his apprentice Etido, forestalls Azuka’s execution, and she is taken to a sacred mountain out of the reach of her family, friends and foes. She embarks on a gruelling journey through treacherous terrains to unravel the mystery behind her bizarre birthmark.

For the music industry it would have been yet another loss, as rapper YQ who is signed to Storm Records on the 31st of May was involved in an accident. Reports reaching us from YQ’s close friend, Kayz, confirmed that the rapper was returning back to Lagos from an Abuja trip, before the accident occurred along the air force road on his way home after leaving the airport. He sustained injuries on some part of his body and his hands can visibly been seen with stitches. We wish him a quick recovery, and thank God the Nigerian music industry didn’t have to mourn once again. Amongst artistes who have had accidents in the last one year includes, late Dagrin (who wasn’t fortunate to live and tell the story), Mallam Spicey, Danny Young and Terry g.
