Max Payne 3 and Guild Wars 2 with some Bioshock Infinite occasionally. Also replaying Mass Effect 3 for something like the 5th time. All on the PC.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is coming tommorrow.
BusinessRe: Unbiased Comaparison; Konga Vs Jumia by lumzi23: 2:33pm On Dec 29, 2013
I have only purchased twice from Konga. The first item was delayed by some days but when it arrived it was in good order and exactly what I wanted. I have recently purchased another item (on Thursday). Today being Sunday it has been two working days since I purchased it so we are still on schedule. It is currently under warehouse process on their site. Still, because of my first experience, they still appear to have some ways to go before they reach the machine like efficiency of sites like Amazon.

I'll update when they deliver my goods or if they fail to deliver on time.
ComputersRe: Which Is The Best Internet Connection In Nigeria? by lumzi23: 5:13pm On Dec 18, 2013
With their new fibre optic service ipNX is offering speeds from 4mbps all the way to 25mbps. I haven't tested it myself but given that it is supposed to be a proper fibre connection I imagine that real worlds speeds should be similar to how it works abroad. The prices also seem great/fair with the standard 10mbps coming in at something like 10500 Naira. It is already available in much of lagos and i believe they rolling out in Abuja and PH too. Posting from phone so can't post a link. Check the ipNX site for more info.

ComputersipNX Fibre Optic Service Launches (it Is Proper Broadband) 10mbps by lumzi23(op): 3:08am On Dec 03, 2013
ipNX has launched a proper Fibre to the Home Broadband service with great prices. It is called ipNX Fibre Optic Service (FoS).

For a 10mbps connection you only pay N10,500 per month and installation is N15,750 and the modem is N15,750 as well. All in all, this is one of the best internet deals available in Nigeria today (in my opinion). It is already available in Lagos and in one of the linked articles (see below) it says it is coming to Abuja and Port-Harcourt as well.

They also have faster, more expensive connections as well if you want the ultimate in broadband. I hope they also come to my estate as well because I am tired of the currently slow wireless connection I have (which is one of ipNX's older much slower connections).

If the speeds are truly as advertised, things like streaming video's (even HD videos), downloading large files in a short time and even online gaming will now be truly possible in Nigeria.

Anyone using the service already? Post some speed tests.

Moonspawn: What in the world is yahclick??

moonspawn.com
Yahclick is a VSAT internet service. The connection I tested was a dedicated business connection not the home user shared plan but I am hopeful the regular version is the same. I would recommend everyone TRY BEFORE YOU BUY or at least check from someone who has it who you know and trust. I don't have the money right now but when I do I will get it and update this thread with info or even make a new thread.

The Shogun 2 is it Total War?[/quote]Yes, it is Total War: Shogun 2

FYI to thread: Yahclick might not be good for multiplayer due to the high latency inherent to VSAT, but it should be fantastic for other things like heavy downloads, watching youtube etc.

purplekayc: How does this steam thing work?is it free 2 download games?
It has some FTP multiplayer games. In general you have to pay. The good thing about them is that they are cheaper than getting them on consoles (Steam is a PC service) and they sales 2 or so times a year. You just missed a big summer sale they had going. They had games at like 40%-70% off. I got Bioshock Infinite for like $30 dollars (N4,846). Bioshock Infinite for PS3 at Jumia is N11,995.

However, I would only recommend steam if you have a good connection with robust data allowance.

As for Yahclick, from what I understand there is a data cap, however at night, from 1am - 6am you get unlimited download. I have taken the opportunity to test the connection at my office during some late nights recently and I downloaded a 12GB game (Shogun 2) and a 16GB game (The Witcher 2). All told it took just two nights (from 1am-6am each night only) to download the two games.

purplekayc: wats their rates monthly>?yahclick
They start at N4,950 which is good.

The real problem is their equipment/installation fees which is like N80,000 and upwards depending on where you live. Coollink had a great Promo recently which was like 35K for installation and equipment but that has expired. I am hoping another good Promo comes around soon.

Yongi99: pls i need pc games, anybody can help? Am in calabar.
Steam would be your best bet if you have a decent connection (Yahclick seems great if you can afford it).

Also, you need a decently powered PC for PC games (i.e not some garden variety hp laptop). Do you have one?

Going by this thread it seems Konga is really the way to go if I ever wanted to buy something from within Nigeria. Neither have got the really wide range of things to buy of something like Amazon. I might buy things like clothes and books from them though. Maybe games on occassion.

I tried it when I got back to Abuja in TF2. It was playable as TF2 is forgiving with some classes I was getting pings of 250ms and above. No good.

60ms with swift you say? If I ever move to Lagos, I'll probably try them out.

I hope I haven't jumped the gun and gotten hopes up. When I get back to ABJ and my system I'll hopefully test both connections out a bit more thoroughly and see what's what.

braine: I read your post 3 times but couldn't comprehend. Is it your IPNX that is fast or MTN?
Sorry. The IPNX is quite fast at night but the MTN, from what I have seen, is BLAZING at night (in terms of download speed).

HOWEVER, the IPNX has better ping results. Ping is considered to be more important for online gaming once your download speed reaches a certain level.

Here is a definition of ping I found: http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/1878/what-is-ping-and-why-is-it-important?answertab=active#tab-top

Apparently, above 100ms (milliseconds) you'll still feel a little lag but it's better than we have ever gotten (my ipnx sometimes gets as low as 118ms).

The MTN ping is still pretty slow but I want to see what the high download speed might do to offset that low ping is all I'm saying.

Wow. I can scarcely believe my eyes.

So I watching youtube tonight and noticed that all of a sudden the speed at which the video was loading incredibly fast (even at 720p)! So decide to do a speedtest and got speeds like like what you see above. Madness!

I know speeds get faster at night, but this is crazy. While I was in Abuja, with my IPNX connection, I also noticed fast speeds at night.

How fast? Fast enough to play a round of Team Fortress 2 with little to no lag. I can't be sure since the game finished downloading literally an hour or two before I rushed to the airport. Still, I only noticed lag maybe 2 times. My IPNX gives me good pings at night (124ms or thereabout ) but this MTN hotness isn't far off, plus the download speed is off the charts. Ping is more important for online game but I wonder the current (good but not amazing) MTN ping combined with that crazy download speed will give me a functional and fun experience. When I get back to ABJ I'll test it out. cool

If this is what we get now, imagine what will happen when MTN's submarine cable lands.

I am excited! If the MTN works like I hope or the IPNX experience holds out there might be some Battlefield 3/Gears of War 3 in my future. Heck, I might even get a go at my beloved Rainbow Six Vegas again. YES!

oyb: i also prefer me2 to me 3

both me1 and me2 had faces to the villains - saren and harbinger (assuming control of this form - you will know pain , shepard cheesy)

no memorable bad guy in me3 - tim doesn't count for me

the fked up ending, even though the dlc answered most of the issues

of all of them me2 is my fav - esp the startup vid on tuchanka and the theme music

me3 was supposed to be the culimination of all your decisions in 1 and 2 - i thought i'd see some beef between ashley and miranda - no dice angry

i no go lie sha i was almost movd to tears when grunt almost died - i was like wtf is it with these writers - mordin( i didn't miss him) tali (not enough rep , and there was no way i'd support the quarians over the geth ) do they want to kill off everyone?
Saren was a weak bad guy and Harbinger was just some random guy whose voice I kept hearing. No, none of them even remotely compared to the sheer badness that was Kai Leng and non of the were as compelling as the illusive man.

The ending was bad (no, absolutely terrible) and the game slightly overwhelmed you with side quests around the middle, but aside from that the game was bleeming glorious.

It is a little disheartening but there is hope. A lot of the infrastructure required to make broadband a reality is on ground (as I understand it). The nigerian factor just needs to be overcome.
