For so long I’ve been listening to the BBC and hardly a day goes by without them having at least one negative report about Nigeria.

At first I ignored this, after all we all know Nigeria is not one of the best countries to live in the world right now but when it became a resounding topic I had to question the intentions of this supposedly reliable and authentic media powerhouse and the underlying message they’re trying to portray to the rest of the world about Nigeria.

It seems every bad news and inhuman act that comes from Africa is from Nigeria. Is it that they ignore their own vices and take pleasure in soiling the image of the country?

As far as I know, a significant number of Britain’s population are Nigerians who have become an irreplaceable part of the British system from the Mayors and titled personalities, to academics, top government officials, sports and even the street urchins but it is my observation that these people are only reported as Nigerians when there is a negative event like the Woolwich killings.

However when such individuals make breakthrough advances in Science, win medals and laurels and shine in other facets of life, their Nigerian origin is rarely acknowledged.

Now, Britain has a very high number of crime and gang violence even in its most revered city of London but how many of those crimes are reported daily on the international media? I should have gone into statistics but I don’t want to bore my readers with all that.

And to that ridiculous E report saying Lee Thompson died after he started practicing Yoruba, I cannot help but laugh.

Yoruba is a very dominant tribe which originated in the South Western part of Nigeria but has a minority of people in other countries like Brazil, Togo and Benin republic who originated from this area and still hold on to its culture.

Now as much as I know, the word “Yoruba” is largely referred to as a tribe and not a religion even by the Yorubas themselves and so it is incredibly ignorant of E! to say the young American Rizzoli & Isles actor who committed suicide at the age of 29 was influenced by Yoruba.

They truly practice a religion called Yoruba religion especially is Brazil. It’s a religion of all the Yoruba gods. While some are just basic, they follow one Yoruba god. Many of them have Yoruba names starting with gun or ifa and worship sango and ogun unlike the Christian Nigerian Yorubas here that changed theirs to Oluwa. Now the fact is most Yorubas do not even know if there is a Yoruba religion or not as they are either Christians or Muslims while some practice what is generally accepted to be African traditional religion.

Do something different from what she expects of you, give her a kiss in public and try not to be too predictable.

Rapper 2Shotz has come out to deny allegations that he used to beat his former girlfriend and controversial BBA housemate Beverly Osu.

A high court in Rivers state has granted bail to Mr Chidi Lloyd, detained leader of the Rivers state legislature due to his role in the crises that rocked the [b]Rivers state house of assembly on July 9th and July 10th 2013[/b], which led to the battering and hospitalization of fellow house member Michael Chinda.

Lloyd, who represents Emohua constituency was granted bail by Justice Charles Wali following Lloyd’s counsel’s plea for him to be granted bail based on his health condition.

Meanwhile, the factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr Felix Obuah, said the party was not happy with the bail granted Lloyd.

in a statement by Obuah’s media advicer, he said: “This is a vindication of our fears and alarm that Mr Michael Chindah cannot get justice in Rivers State”.
