The effect of an unplanned family, and how people often get stuck in the vicious cycle of poverty in Nigeria. This video describes the life of an average Nigerian first born son, who inherits the responsibilities of his parents, right from a very tender age.
A boy named Ayo who comes from a very poor family of 11 children, he is the first son and first born, his father does a menial job while his mother sells fried beans cake and pap in front of their public house.

After his primary school at 11, his parents could not afford to send him to secondary school, and no one has accepted to help train any of their children, there are other siblings that need to be provided for, so his father decides that he has come of age to start doing something that he will be earning income, so as to help in running the family. Ayo’s father opts for an apprenticeship for Ayo.
Because his father is not wealthy, influential or knows a friend that knows a friend, Ayo could not get a better place to learn a trade or a skill as an apprentice, all he could get was a minor generator maintenance and repair workshop for his apprenticeship. After all the unnecessary rituals, he began his first apprenticeship program at 11.

After a few years, the maintenance service business wasn’t really growing that much because it was a minor generator servicing, a lot of people are into the same business so the competitions were high. Ayo has already been expected by his parents to be getting some commission from his place of work but they wouldn’t understand the challenges they are facing at work.

Ayo makes a choice to leave the generator servicing workshop to join a road side mechanic workshop close to his place of work, but his family has already started demanding money from him. His younger sister comes to ask him for money for the payment of her tailoring skill acquisition program, her father says he doesn’t have money to train the girls, so she had no choice but to ask her elder brother Ayo for the money.

Ayo doesn’t earn money yet from his new found apprenticeship only the 200 naira feeding allowance his boss gives him every afternoon. Ayo could not afford such money, he started looking for ways to raise the fund for his sister, so he plotted a make away with a component he removed from one of their clients’ car so he could sell it. Ayo gets caught, he gets punished and humiliated, and later banished from the job.

Ayo now becomes jobless and idle, roaming about the streets with bad company of friends. He started getting to know the streets ways of hustling, but he wanted to lead a good live and be an example to his younger siblings. Later a friend hooked him up with a bus driver as a conductor. Meanwhile back home, his younger sister has decided to take her life into her hands, so began to meet with men to also make ends meet.
