Thanks for the reply but the issue is I am a lawyer here,I have checked the Sol list and I can't find a course that I can change to on the Sol list, and I don't want to study alone, pls any suggestions...
You have to check the SOL again. look for any course within your area of interest that is offered by your school and change to it when you land. pls don't come here and do a course not listed on SOL if you have plans to stay back.

I got an application for masters in legal studies,I have accepted before I came across this page,is it that any course not on the Sol will not be entitled to processing PR and also are we exempted from the 2 years post study?
Thank you

If the course you've accepted is not on the SOL. No worries. See your Faculty student's adviser when you land and change to a course that is on the SOL on or before the first week of resumption. They will do it for you. It's not advisable to do a course that's not on the SOL unless you are coming here to study and study alone.

Please, how much is the tuition deposit?
half of the first year tuition. i.e First trimester fees is the deposit you will need to pay before you get your CoE. It depends on ur course of study. but it's btw (14k - 16k) AUD.
I didn't pay all of the deposit im supposed to pay cos my agent contacted the school on my behalf and told told we hav forex issues in 9ja and will pay d remaining as soon as i land.

Good news. Naira keeps appreciating by day. heard its now $1 to 380. Hopefully it should have improved further by next week. If it does. Form A will definately be cheaper.
Its possible for Form A to be obtainable at the official rate next month. I will keep my naira and my arms crossed till next month. I pray it doesn't get worse.

We are all blessed differently. You made a better grade than your friend probably because you've been blessed you with a higher IQ than him. Your friend has been blessed with 'long leg', so he got the Job. that's life. lol.
Besides, the fact that your friend made a 3rd class in school and u made a better grade doesn't mean you are more qualified for the job than him.
Be happy for your friend. when it is your time. You will shine.

That's very wrong information you just gave.

You won't give bank statement ONLY if you apply to AL1 universities.

oh!.sorry. Taught you applied to an AL1 school. Most Nigerians apply to an AL 1 school.

I doubt if you could migrate to Australia as a driver although there are heaps of jobs if you already have your PR. When you work for the govt as a driver you may be able to earn $25-30 excluding loading.
You will earn more when you drive trains or drive trailers in the mines.
okay. thanks.. That was insightful.

I once encouraged folks here to go for trade courses. The demand is high and the pay is enormous.
Painting, plumbing, Carpentery, mechanic, name namethey all on skill select and on huge demand. Just a few days on the news they mentioned about Aussie not venturing into trades anymore.

A friend of mind called a plumber to his house. Call out fees is $100 and 10mins work was $700. He was just vexing for himself.

Tradesmen are well-off in Australia and are proud of what they do. Smart Carpenters and painters own 2-3houses here. Mechanic charged me $400 to replace a ball joint in my car. His quote was $100 per hour.

Most tradesmens in Australia have more money than bankers and accountants except you are on a high level.

very beautiful post.
what do u think about driving? my cousin. A professional driver in Nigeria is thinking of migrating to ausee.

You don't need to show a statement of account for subclass 500. just a letter of sponsorship from your sponsor will do.

@All

This is thread is 100% DIY and not for agency/agent discussion.

We don't recommend or promote an agent here.

Thank you.

Mr justwise. There is no way we won't talk about agents on Australian student's thread because most universities in Australia will refer students to an agent after application has been made.
These schools has representatives in different countries and students must go through any of these rep to help process the admission, visa etc.

Prospective students should understand that they dont need to pay any money to an agent once the school refers them. I was made to know by my university that there is a certain percentage of our school fees that goes to our agent. therefore; why should they charge again for the admission/visa processing? You've deleted my earlier post. I only felt the information might be useful to some. That I gave my personal experience doesn't mean i'm promoting or recommending any agent.

Good day everyone,

I want to write my IELTS but the closest available opening will be on 29th April, 2017. I am looking towards July academic session. Can I still put through my study application ?
You can put in your application without IELTS.
You will get a conditional offer if they admit you. You can then send your English test to them when you have it to get an unconditional offer.

Good day all.

By Gods Grace, I will commence my masters degree prog in Australia next week. Meanwhile, I want to ensure i get my PR before I complete my studies next December.
Therefore, I have plans to start processing my PR as soon as I land in Aussie. My course is Architecture and it's on the SOL list, I have no tangible work experience relating to my field though. I wrote IELTS (academics) in dec 2016 and got 6.5.
When I checked @bellong thread on Australian permanent residence. I discovered I will need police clearance certificate and form 80 to process my PR.
Now? what are my chances of getting a PR when I'm in Aussie considering my little or no work experience?
Also, I need to get all relevant documents before I liv naija. How do i get the police clearance certificate? what is form 80 and how can I get one? Apart from those two, Are there any other docs i should take along with me to Aussie to process my PR?

Other suggestions and advices would be most welcome!

thanks.

My visa isn't out yet but I want to be proactive as orientation begins Feb 20th. I have been trying to check for ticket bookings. Figured d best bet is to leave on or before 17th but as it is d rate is so high. Please is there anyone in Darwin that can tell of the best route to take. that is pocket friendly, convinient, minimal delays and good baggage allowance. If I can get good heads up as to accommodation will be lovely.

we are in the same shoes. my visa isn't out and orientation starts on the 20th of Feb. I don't want to miss the orientation. I submitted my application three weeks ago and I can't wait for my visa to come out so I can book for my flight asap. I'm going to Melbourne. deakin university.

Bro, I guess RMIT should have admission for July or October .you can go for October sha . statement of acct is not needed for AL1 schools bruh .but admission takes time .

Regards grin
I applied to an AL1 school . (deakin university). And they requested for statement of acct before they issued my CoE. The Australian embassy expects the school to check students/sponsors bank statement. Seems RMIT and Macquarie don't ask students for SOA though.

Good day fellow nairalanders, please I'm planning of traveling abroad (UK or Canada) after my services year which I'll be through with by October 2017 for my Master Degree.
I graduated with second class lower (2.62 cgpa) from Architecture.......I had already consult a traveling agent and he said I should do English proficiency test (TOEFL), that after doing the test that my Cgpa doesn't matter again but I'm going to use the score from my TOEFL to process the admission. Please I want to confirm how true is this.
I'll also like you guyz to advise me on how to go about this and with the schools with less tuition fee in this two countries. Thanks.

Are you furthering in Architecture? UK, Canada, Australia, USA among others are good countries you can go to do your Master of Architecture. When you apply to Architecture schools for graduate programs, They will need you to submit a portfolio, which is a major criteria for admission. truly, some schools might not really consider CGPA once you have a 2-2. Make sure you do an accredited professional master program in Architecture if your goal is to become a licensed architect. If your budget is low, try Germany (dessau institute of Architecture).

You will be extra lucky to be offered Master of Architecture in Canada with your low CPGA. nothing is impossible though. some UK schools don't really care abt CGPA for M.Arch admission. so far uve made 2-2. but your portfolio must be tight sha. Master of Architecture in UK is a 2 yr program. (1 year internship included). on completion, you will be an associate member of the royal institute of British Architects. (RIBA). you are not coming back to naija after ur studies. unless you want to. try leeds beckett university and university of kent. all the best.

Hello house.
I want to pay my visa fees tomorrow. visa fees is AUD550 (USD440).
And since person no fit spend pass 100$ on master card monthly.
I need some1that has a master dollar card that can pay for me. I will give the person the equivalent in naira. if there is no money in the account, we can easily fund the account with dollars (black market) and pay.
Those in OZ can be of help too.
it's urgent. I need to pay the fees asap as my school resumes next month.
Thanks.
