SairikiDurri:You ruined this thread from the biginning bro, expecially when you started talking about how Niger delta was feeding everyone from palm oil. Theres still no evidence to suggest this infact most of the incomes generated during this period was going into the UK royal families account and probaby use in treating leprosy cases all over "Onisha"...lol. "Nearly 90 per cent, of the cases of leprosy in the Southern Provinces occur on the River Niger in the neighbourhood of Onitsha" |
SairikiDurri:Significantly palm oil production in southwest? YES!. Though maybe not in the same level of production as other region, but just because you dont know about this doesnt mean it didnt happen. Cocoa was and still referenced as the main cash crop in southwest region because you can still see the economics contribution of cocoa all over southwest...example how awolowo managed to provides and built many things through incomes from cocoa.....such as cocoa house, free education, radio station and many housing and industrial park. |
SairikiDurri:Bros why are u like this? Or are you not the "OP" again? no one claimed that southwest produced more palm oil products more than SS or SE. It was you "OP" that clearly stated in the first page that niger delta is feeding the rest of the country through palm oils, u later added eastern region and someone else added midwest. Even though there were no evidence to suggest that monies generated from this period were shared with any other region, most of these incomes were simply going into british government account. |
Igboid:It was the op that was attributing the total palm oil production in the country to niger delta. He later changed it to eastern region and eventually added midwest. Go through the cited report again and you will see that the present southwest region is also part of southern provinces. Example the regeneration of cocoa farm in agege district and apapa saw mill (lagos), the oni forest reserve (ogun state) and many others.... |
jneutron4000:I really dont know when this chestbeating is going to Stop. |
VulgarVulvas:Bros, he never said southwest produced palm products more than eastern or midwest region. It was you guys that initial claimed that niger delta was feeding everyone before you changed it to eastern region and eventually added midwest to your claim. Forgeting that midwest region was not part of eastern region but western region. The total of palm products you guys were quoting came from all over the country and at least four states from SW region also produced palm products. Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun and Lagos state produced in large quantity. |
VulgarVulvas:Cocoa.—The increase here is very satisfactory indeed, but it should not be taken as indicating that Lagos, so rich in indigenous palm products, will make such rapid and substantial progress in this industry as has been accomplished on the Gold Coast. Every encouragement is being given to planters, and the recently formed Agricultural Union, which has branch societies at Abeokuta, Ibadan, and Oyo, is doing good work. The Government realises how desirable it is, look-ing to the future, that Lagos should not be so entirely depen-dent upon the palm tree, and not only with regard to cocoa but other products as well is it hoped that our export trade may be rendered less narrow than at present |
Beautiful!!. Op please post more about this as im looking into starting something similar in southwest. God bless. |
Poverty and hunger have remained high in rural areas, remote communities and among female-headed households and these cut across the six geo- political zones, with prevalence ranging from approximately 46.9 per cent in the South-West to 74.3 per cent in North-West and North- East. The poverty and hunger rates is alarming. Although southwest has continue to have lowest poverty rate and hunger rate, i think 46.9 percent is way to high. |
The president is not in any position to offer you independece. Let your elected representative start raising motion in this regard. |
Just imagine what a small state like bayelsa and others could have acheived with 40 billion dollars. |
fairness, justice and equity for all nigerians. |
michaelandre:I really laughed at their stupidity, they always result to insults as soon as they are challenged. |
39xtr36r:Hahahha....Did you just refer to me as demented, confused, hypocrite, greedy, treasury looters, murderer and backstabbers...lol. You won bro and i got better thing to do. |
39xtr36r:Hahhaha...joker. Biafra is not igbos matter untill your elected representative stand up and speak for Biafra. Until then keep making noises and we will continue laughing at your stupidity. |
39xtr36r:[/s] All noise! as i was expecting. |
39xtr36r:Its always convinient for some you guys to talk about aburi accord. What about before aburi accords? Is this kind of selective amnesia or what? |
melejo:Why dont you also find time and check yorubas position before Aburi accord. Awolowo vs azikwe stance will definately enlighten you, thank me later. |
Theres nothing new here, this has always be yoruba position. Check the last confab |
All enemies of this great country will be put to shame. God bless nigeria. |
proeast:https://s4.postimg.org/g56tmlc7h/stato.jpg Plateau leads in iron mining not ebonyi, check that stat. |
zuchyblink:Calm down bro, ogun state has oil in commercial quantities. |
See painment everywhere.....lol, at least this will educate some people about which region contributing to the center. |
In 2015 Ogun state alone was responsible for processing 15 billion metric of mining activity (other than metal ore and coal). Also, in the 2014 financial year, the state came top accounting for 14 billion metric tones of mining activity. |
Ogun state has a lot of potential and i am desperately waiting for oil exploration to also begin. God bless ogun state, south west and nigeria. |
Ogun emerges Nigeria’s mining capital Data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that Ogun state has recorded the highest amount of mining activity in the country in the last three years. The data which was released over the weekend shows the dis-aggregated mining and quarrying activity volumes of Nigeria’s 36 states for the period 2010-2015. In 2015 Ogun state alone was responsible for processing 15 billion metric of mining activity (other than metal ore and coal). Also, in the 2014 financial year, the state came top accounting for 14 billion metric tones of mining activity. As far back as 2014, the Ogun state government had expressed readiness to provide the much needed political will in developing the solid mineral sector of the state for socioeconomic development, especially in the face of the dwindling revenue from oil. The data which captures the activities of legally registered miners is an indication that the effort of the government is paying off. The data also shows that Gombe is at the forefront of coal mining in Nigeria, while Ebonyi is at the forefront of Iron ore mining in the country. Other states which have equally performed well in terms of the volume of material processed in their localities include, Koji and Cross Rivers State. http://businessdayonline.com/ogun-emerges-mining-capital-of-nigeria/ |
The most important part of this news is that the disproved oil well belong to Ogun state. |
Where is Mr common sense when you need him?... |
onnenka:That doesnt change the fact that huge people from outside southwest are also contributing to the crime rate in the southwest. I can post many articles and news to support my arguement. While i wudnt denied the contribution of other ethnicity toward southwest economics but we should also need to recongnise the fact i stated earlier. |

. The Palm oil money that they are even shouting about, the Colonial Masters took almost all if not all away. After 1960, Cocoa became Nigeria major source of income before crude oil.
